This cottage really cannot be beaten for a tranquil stay in beautiful surroundings. It has been beautifully decorated and furnished and was fully equipped for a luxurious stay. The owners live next door and went out of their way to make the cottage welcoming on arrival with lamps lit and heating on to make us comfortable and wine in the wine rack. We knew the owners were there if anything was required but they left us alone to enjoy our holiday.
It was a joy to wake up in the morning and look out at the views of the North Pennines every morning and the owners alpacas in the field below the window, whatever the weather. The cottage is really quite remote and ideal for walkers but we used it as a getaway for a week in the middle of a very hectic few months. It was the perfect place to recharge our batteries. There were plenty of places to visit with the Lakes and Hadriens Wall both being about half an hours drive away. However, the cottage was so beautifull that we spent a lot of time relaxing there and probably didn't go out as much as we might have otherwise done. The nearest town, Alston, is small but had everything we needed for our stay.
We cannot fault this cottage and really hope to return one day, we noticed from the visitors book that here are many return visitors and we can see why! Everything about our stay in the cottage was perfect and the only thing we disliked was the fact that we had to leave!
