With our own private pool and tennis court, and standing in beautiful tropical gardens, Hill Rise House offers absolute privacy. For a virtual tour please click the video link in the photo index.

The architecture and furnishings are in traditional colonial style. Some of the antique furniture dates back to the days of Lord Nelson (who was married here on Nevis). For out door living, we have a number of large covered verandas, a large swimming pool with cabana and a private tennis court.

Accommodation is in two self contained houses set discreetly apart. With two bedrooms in each house, the layout is perfect for two groups travell...ing together but needing their own privacy from time to time.

Always for exclusive occupancy, our rental rates are scaled according to the amount of accommodation required, making the property affordable for large or small groups.

We enjoy one of the best panoramic views on Nevis Island, to the west for sunsets over the Caribbean Sea, north west to our sister island of St, Kitts and northwards to the majesty of Nevis Peak. Day and night, our views are spectacular!

We provide a complimentary maid and laundry service Monday to Saturday and we have a full time gardener Monday to Friday. Our 40' x 20' pool is serviced twice a week by outside contractor.

We recommend car rental for the duration of your stay, as you will need it for shopping for provisions, eating out and to explore our little island. Our favourite beach is just 15 minutes drive away, and nowhere in the island is more than half an hour.

The owners will handle your booking direct, paying attention to every detail during the process. If you prefer to use one of our agents, we'll be happy to make an introduction.

Additional Location Information

Hill Rise House stands in more than two acres at the western end of the old Montpelier sugar plantation. The internationally renown Montpelier Plantation Inn is just a few minutes walk up a country lane passing the Nevis Botanical Gardens on the way.

Neighbouring properties are individual privately owned residences in at least an acre of grounds.

Our hill side location enjoys uninterrupted westerly views of the Caribbean Sea to the islands of Saba, Statia and our sister Island of St. Kitts. Some of the sunsets we enjoy are truly spectacular! Below us lies our sleepy little capital town of Charlestown which becomes a fairyland of lights after sundown. To complete the panorama, Nevis Peak stands majestically a couple of miles to our north.

15 to 20 minutes drive will take you into Town, ferry port and the wonderful beaches of Nevis. We are about half an hour from Nevis's little airport which handles regional flights, and for long haul flights, St.Kitts airport is about 90 minutes away using the passenger ferry.

Bookings are always for exclusive occupancy of the entire property, regardless of the number of bedrooms occupied. Included in the rental: maid service Mon-Sat, complimentary personal laundry and all utilities including Wi-Fi.

Bookings made through this web site qualify for a 10% discount on the above rates.
We offer further discounts for early bookings and longer stays. Please enquire.

We do not hike our rates over Christmas/New Year, but we do have minimum booking requirements. Please enquire.

Our published rates are subject to change without notice, unless a booking has been confirmed and a deposit has been received. (Our rates are in US dollars, and rates quoted in other currencies on this web site are only approximate).

  Patrick and Dietmar had the foresight to get a large plot of land in what was then a wilderness at a time when Nevis - not the most advanced of islands - didn't even have proper electricity and water. That plot of land has a commanding view and is only half a mile from one of the nicest small hotels in the world - Montpelier. Again, showing great foresight, they built not one but two houses, separated by a discrete distance, so going on holiday with other families is a perfect mix of intimacy and separation - we can all go home at night! The pool is terrific, the gardens are lovely, the tennis court is challenging - it faces East-West rather than the Tropical standard North-South - and is very windy, but its so hot anyway that I doubt how many guests actually use it. Any drawbacks of the property - too many door keys, rooms not interconnecting - certainly havent stopped us coming back many times, and although we havent stayed in HRH since the new kitchen went in, we've seen it being built and it looks terrific, although aircon might have been a real bonus in that one room. Hill Rise H is only one of three key ingredients for success in this holiday destination. Patrick and Dietmar are terrific, a delight to deal with, its really like being at home but in the tropics, and we've had many amusing evenings with them both there and in London. And you have to like Nevis - its a 'Marmite' island. Very small, very parochial, very gentle, very unexciting, very quirky, very beautiful, no nightlife, and if you are that type of vacationer you could 'do Nevis' in 2 days. We're still 'doing' Nevis after 20 or more years...same faces, same parties, same friendly smiles, same local gossip, and Hill Rise House certainly adds a lot to that.

  To avoid any misunderstanding, we have, for many years now, been supplied by the electricity and water utilities. We also have our own backup supplies.

  Hill Rise House sits on the slopes of the volcanic peak at the heart of Nevis. It
  has probably the best views on the island, one one side across to St Kitts and
  over the Caribbean Sea, another up to the peak, and the last across an
  exceptional terraced 2 acre garden. it has an immaculately sited pool, and a
  very well kept tennis court. All of this would make this a great destination. But
  more than this it has a verandah to die for. Stretching out like the bow of a
  ship, it is the perfect place to experience the island's beauty. Very well
  equipped with very helpful owners and staff, Hill Rise House is a destination in
  itself. We have stayed in many rented houses across Europe, Africa and
  Australia, and none compare in value for money to this.
