I stayed three weeks at Smiley B&B, and it made all the difference in my Delhi visit.. One day while walking through central Delhi, I came into an area with a concentration of hotels catering to foreign tourists. It struck me how grateful I was to have landed at Smiley. The approach of the owners is genuine hospitality rather than the blatant exploitation of guests one immediately senses in many Indian tourist hotels. I never felt I had to be on my guard against being taken.
The previous reviewers have by and large written what I would now say about the benefits of Smiley: the helpfulness, the friendliness, the sparkling cleanliness, the comforts. At the same time two reviewers mention the location as a drawback. I see this differently. At Smiley you get a dose of normal everyday life in an area outside the tourist enclaves. Not once in my three weeks in Smiley's neighbourhood did I spot another non-Indian. This was a glimpse of real life--away from the touts and businesses that prey on tourists.
I'd advise booking well in advance if at all possible, I think the traveler would do well to consider staying more than one or two nights and taking time to savour the area and the incredible hospitality of the owners. After their hearty breakfast you'll be charged up to take on Delhi. The fast and efficient Metro system ranks among the best in the world. I wouldn't let location deter you from Smiley.
This said, I simply enjoyed getting to know the owners. As others before me have mentioned, this couple go out of their way to be accommodating. In my case: ordering business cards for me (and driving some distance to pick them up), giving me a thick rug to put under my yoga mat, arranging taxi transport with a trusted local cab owner, cheerfully helping me decipher some Hindi phrases, advising me on choice of a kitchen gadget, taking me to see a flour miller used by local households. I could go on, but can sum it up by saying there isn't a 5-Star anywhere that will be as helpful and attentive as these owners. This is a B&B to be enjoyed -

They were always there for us, whatever our need - from taking us to an optometrist to fix broken eyeglasses to helping getting our cell phone to work in India. They gave us wise and loving advice and great directions. Breakfast here is fantastic! The place is immaculate and comfortable. And we so enjoyed our great and fun conversations. Always the comfort of available tea and coffee in our room.
You can walk to a multi-complex shopping center where we bought sweets and takeout food. Just about anything you want - pharmacy, clothes, barbershop and salon, fruit, souvenirs, and more. We also walked to the Metro to ride to various parts of Delhi. Most gracious hosts - We shall return!!

My daughter and I stayed with Roop and Risal for only 2 nights. The house is lovely, the rooms are immaculate and everything is clean. We only had a simple breakfast each morning because we were not very well, but I wish we could have enjoyed Roops cooking a bit more, because she is such a good cook (and a lovely host). Gurgaon itself does not have much to do, but the metro is an easy walking distance and it costs just Rs25 to get to New Delhi central. There are also lots of other locations en-route where you can go sight seeing. You don't need to be based in Delhi to get around and the metro is cleaner, easier, and cheaper than the auto rick-shaws. You can also get a day ticket which allows you to metro hop to lots of places. I would recommend Smiley B&B; to anyone who doesn't mind staying out of central Delhi.

I will highly recommend this place for a long or short term stay .We are a senior citizen couple felt safe and secure.Host & hostess went an extra mile to make our stay beautiful and comfortable.I do not have enough words to describe their hospitality, one has to stay here to expierence it.Our extra needs which are not a part of B&B; were taken care by our gracious hosts. We really felt at home and welcomed and were really sad to say goodbye .Looking forward to stay here in future with out any hesitation.

My wife and I stayed at Smiley bed and breakfast. We had an amazing experience. The room was clean and the amenities were outstanding. Roop Chand & Risal (property owners) took great care of us, even inviting us to the kitchen to see indian meals being prepared.
Transportation to and from the International Airport was arranged and we had no trouble getting around Delhi
The location was great too - plenty of historic sites nearby and easy access to shops, restaurants, malls. The host helped us plan our way around, and even made arrangements for us when we made our trip to Dharamsala.
All in all, a great experience. -

Boston, MAThe best experience!

First of all the room was really nice. Immaculately clean with nice decor and everything you'd even need for a comfortable stay in a hot country (AC, fridge, fan). Private bathroom is a huge plus (not something you'd necessarily get at a B&B). Gurgaon is a suburb of Delhi (a really nice and safe one for that matter) so it is a little further away from the old town but we liked it better that way. It's not as crazy as Delhi itself and has some really awesome shopping! Staying there also gave us proximity to the Kutub Minar and some of the beautiful temples; so honestly we didn't feel like we missed much by not staying in Delhi itself.
But more importantly, the hospitality and the warm treatment we got from Roop Chand and Risal were second to none. We were really made to feel like a part of the family! They've spent more than an hour discussing our itinerary, making valuable suggestions and even helped us make the necessary reservations (getting a train ticket in India is a lot harder than you'd think!). Our trip just wouldn't have been the same without them! All in all, couldn't recommend this place strongly enough.
