Nice, clean and very tasteful homestay in a safe and quiet residential area, very convenient distance to the airport (no flight noises heard)

Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in May 2012
If you are looking for a place to feel at home and relaxed then look no further. Vandana is a great host who provides comfortable, cosy and most importantly very clean accommodation at a reasonable price. Nothing is too much trouble for her including gluten intolerant individuals like me as she provided great variety for breakfasts, which was also very tasty. I would definitely go back and recommend to anyone without hesitation. Enjoy!

Vandana was a gracious host. While there, I did not feel like a customer, rather, a close loved one. I would definitely recommend this stay to anyone looking for the comforts of home while traveling abroad. My stay in New Delhi was enhanced because I honestly felt like I was going home, as opposed to staying in a cold hotel environment.

Left on 04/29/2012 for a stay in April 2012
I stayed at Vandana's only for a night. She is warm and hospitable and her home is comfortable and clean. Some suggestions :
1) The room should have a TV. Given Delhi's extreme weather, it is nice to come back and chill during the day and lounging in front of a TV was missed.
2) A printed list of Things To Do (Places to eat, Particular Shops and markets to visit) which only she as a Local Resident knows. Although she shared tips in conversation, it would have helped to have these printed and given on day 1 to plan time better.Response from vandana thapar - 05/02/2012
Owner
Many thanks for your suggestion.
All the information is carefully listed and kept in a folder which was in the Luxury Room. (Your friends had access and ALL the information)
Also, I recommend and offer information only when asked.
You mentioned you stayed for only one night!
You booked the Deluxe Room which is cheaper and comes without a TV. A little extra payment and you are in the Luxury Room! You did come and check the room before booking it Tanya.
Thanks for taking out time to write. I appreciate it.
Best Regards,
Vandana -

Hi Vandana,
It was a very nice stay at your guesthouse. Everything was very good, especially the bed was very comfy - had wonderful sleep after coming back from Jaipur. The best thing was that your place is very clean and mosquito free.
However, there are few recommendations that I would like to recommend: few slippers to be provided, new soap and detergent in each bathroom. The TV in the room was not working which I forgot to tell you when we were there.
Thanks for your hospitality.
AnjaliResponse from vandana thapar - 04/27/2012
Owner
Thank you Anjali for your kindness and suggestions.
Soap is available as I told you in liquid form. Detergent is part of laundry facility and as mentioned in the Guest Book is available on extra charges.
Perhaps you did not turn on the main switch to the TV because the TV is fully functional.
Best Regards
Vandana

It was a very homely and comfortable stay. An extra foldable bed instead of just a mattress would be a better idea and more comfortable.Tiny soaps and shampoos in the bathrooms would be a good idea.

Left on 04/18/2012 for a stay in March 2012
If you're looking to experience Delhi in the most local way possible, by staying with a local, and getting personalised advice on getting around the place, then this is definitely the way to go. You can stay at a hotel anywhere in the world, but a homestay often promises to be a unique and very local experience. I very much enjoyed the Punjabi style breakfasts that I had every morning, and I really appreciated the reliable advice I got on navigating around the city.
If you've never stayed at a B&B; before, you'd be well-advised to call ahead to understand what is involved in staying in someone's house and abiding by house rules. -

We stayed from the 9th February for three nights. Vandana made us so welcome, we felt like old friends. It was so interesting talking to her, over many cups of tea. She really helped us settle at the beginning of our first trip to India. We are not frequent travellers and really appreciated Vandana's help in getting orientated . The house is absolutely as described, - clean, bright and comfortable. I have already passed on details of this Homestay to friends and have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending it.

My stay at Delhi9 was very enjoyable, comfortable & secure while I was travelling around India recently. The owner Vandana is very flexible as well as being a wealth of advice & good ideas for travel in India. Vandana is warm & friendly & she helped me a lot with my itinerary for the places I wished to tour. She is a generous host which made my stay in Delhi a really wonderful experience. I felt really at home at her place. I would recommend Delhi9 Homestay to anyone travelling to New Delhi.

This was my first experience of B&B; in India and well worth it. Vandana keeps a very clean and well managed property. Her staff are well trained and she makes every effort to make your stay in India enjoyable and comfortable. She helped organise an excellent trip to Rajasthan keeping our budget in mind. My elderly father thoroughly enjoyed his stay there as well.

Left on 01/21/2011 for a stay in December 2010
Like the other reviewers I was nervous about booking informally especially as I had to pay in advance. However a few calls to Vandana(V) convinced me to trust her .
Everything went as planned. Myself and my son felt that we had a safe base to explore Northern India where we were "strangers in a strange landâ€.
The property is situated in a middle class urbanisation with 24 hour security. Five minutes away is a modern shopping centre where you can eat and shop in familiar chains (Tgif,Mc D etc).
A new Metro station (about 100R taxi away) can take you direct into the centre of Delhi and is a ribbon which connects all the †must seesâ€. You will also see modern middle India going and coming.
V will organise drivers and taxies if you want them and she got us the best value. She is in the background helpful but not intrusive.

If you a looking for slice of sanity in Delhi, then this is a good place to stay. A short drive away from most major monuments the apartment is maintained to a high standard and is located in a secure gated complex.
Our host Vandana was great and is a great source of knowledge and information about Delhi.I visited with my parents, my wife and my son and all were made to feel very welcome.
I would definately go back on my next visit. -

It was like being at home in a very foreign land.
Vandana is the dream host come true.
The service and cleanliness were superb.
Location is not an issue in Delhi, you are always far
from everything no matter where you choose to stay.
The only thing we did not like was the particularly
hot weather and the mosquitos that welcomed us, but
Vandana Sharma should not be blamed for that. -

Left on 04/03/2010 for a stay in March 2010
We stayed for 2 weeks with Vandana in Delhi whilst attending the Hockey World Cup tournament and had the most wonderful time - Vandana was an incredible hostess, helpful and really made us feel so at home, giving us tips on where to shop, which markets to go to and where to get the best bargains.
The guest house is simply furnished but homely, spotlessly clean, well located and certainly a better alternative to staying in any of Delhi's hotels at comparable prices. The hospitality shown to us was amazing and we were really made to feel welcome. Each evening on our return from the hockey matches, Vana would be waiting for us, eager to hear our hockey news and all about our day – tea/coffee would be made and we’d all sit around the table chatting until the early hours of the morning.
I would certainly recommend this homestay to anyone travelling to Delhi, rather than staying in a hotel where we would never have got the feel of the real Delhi.
Vana, you were the most amazing person to stay with and I have the most wonderful memories of our stay with you

Left on 03/18/2010 for a stay in March 2010
Vandana is a warm, friendly, helpful person who only wants for her guests to have an excellent Indian experience. There can be no better person in India to do this for you. Her home is inviting, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The breakfast is very satisfying. We were a bit worried when approaching our homestay but the area outside C9 belies the modern, clean home you find inside. The location is central and is referred to by everyone as "upmarket". All necessities are within walking distance and there is a whole array of transport on tap right on the doorstep. Vandana will never allow you to be ripped off and she encouraged us to experience all that India has to offer (not just the top tourist bits!). She was caring and helpful with regard to our trips out and how to get there - giving us advice on prices to pay and places to visit. I am sure we could not have had a better experience anywhere else in India! Thank you Vanna!

Driving through the streets of Delhi, we were not
sure what to expect, wealth on one side of the road
and extreme poverty on the other. Upon arrival we
were welcomed as if we had arrived home. Vandana,
or Vanna as she became known to us, is a warm and
inviting person. Homestay Delhi9 is clean and neat,
and instantly became home to us. There are no
bells, whistles or frills, just hospitality, a
relaxed atmosphere and a pleasure to come home to
after a hectic day out.
Vanna will suggest places to go to and how you
should get there, and arrange transport if you
should need it. Once 'home' we spent many hours
talking about everything, including the hockey. We
were there for the Hockey World Cup and Vanna
watched all our games on TV!
If I were to go back to India, maybe for the
Commonwealth Games, I would not hesitate to stay at
Homestay Delhi9 again. It was a real home away from
home.

I even wished for an extended stay just to enjoy more of the clean and well kept guesthouse and to continue being pampered by Vandana's love, kindness and caring nature.
