What a great place to stay! Schuyler and David are very welcoming and have a lovely home. It is very conveniently situated, with only a short walk to either the French Quarter or Frenchmen Street, with lots of places of interest, restaurants, bars and music venues nearby. A great variety of breakfast choices sets one up for the day. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Thanks Guys!

I stayed upstairs, and my friends (a couple) stayed in one of the two downstairs rooms. The place has great character and is great if you want to actually feel like you are in New Orleans and not some generic room that takes away from the experience. David was out of town while we were there (we stayed four nights) but Schuyler was very friendly and helpful. It is located somewhat near the french quarter, but we had a car and were glad for it. Definitely take one day though to use the street cars, they are worth it if you never have before. If staying in only one room, choose one downstairs. If both rooms downstairs are booked, the person upstairs has to walk around the building to get to the kitchen. We spent most of our time exploring, and only returned to Chez Palmiers for the evening and to sleep. Would definitely go there again.

55691An abundance of comfort, convenience, beauty and hospitality!

My partner and I stayed two nights at Chez Palmiers, along with our friends who stayed in the Grande Suite and the Loft Suite. When we first arrived, we were warmly greeted by our hosts and given a wonderfully informative and inviting tour of their home. The house is beautiful and full of interesting antique pieces that are functional, not at all pretentious, which makes for a cozy and restful environment. Our bed was very comfortable, everything was exceedingly clean, the continental breakfasts were delicious with lots of choices, the location is fabulous, the hosts are so very hospitable and they think of everything! We could not have possibly asked for more and we will definitely return to stay with David and Schuyler again at Chez Palmiers!

44881Good Location for Walkers Who also Have a Car
Left on 01/03/2012 for a stay in December 2011
This is a cute place located on a commercial street on the edge of the Faubourg Marigny and just outside the French Quarter. Location on a commercial street means a visitor can park a car without restriction. Location "on the edge" or "just outside" means you have to walk 4 or 5 blocks to get to the action on Frenchman Street or into the French Quarter on its "quiet" side. This is all great if you like to walk, like we do, but not if you do not, or cannot, walk for some distance, David and Schuyler are very helpful, friendly hosts, and they serve a good basic continental breakfast. We had a suite that was very comfortable.

1st..David and Schuyler are great hosts! Accomodating, friendly, helpful and fun! Huge variety at breakfast; you leave for the day filled up. Grand Suite was large enough for 4 (sofa bed was not so bad in parlor). Ac unit was a little loud but was needed in 100 degree temps. Pool in yard was the best! Every night took a dip before bed to cool off after walking around all day. 1 mile to Jackson Square but easy walk through blocks. We also had Blah Blah room with down comforter and comfy pillows. Cab ride back was $10 when walking was not an option. Highly recommend for all ages!!
Thanks guys!! -

ScotlandExcellent value for money

We stayed at Chez Palmiers for two weeks in May 2011. Booking via the internet was seamless, and the owners arranged early checkin to meet our needs. The owners are friendly and very helpful, and we found it was like staying with friends. Any requests we made were catered for, and a taxi was arranged to take us to the airport.
We stayed in the Grande Suite and attic room, and found both rooms to be quiet and comfortable, and we slept well during our stay (my wife and I both suffer from back problems and suffer badly if we sleep for just one night in an unsupportive bed, but the beds in both rooms gave us no problems at all). The house has the feel of a period New Orleans house, which indeed it is.
Breakfasts were good, with selections of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cheeses, breads, cereals and jams and tea or coffee, and most of these were available to guests at any time. We much preferred these breakfasts to the rather rich and (for us too) large breakfasts we have experienced in other New Orleans guest houses we have stayed in. Breakfasts can be had in the breakfast room, outside on the patio, or in your own room.
The location is ideal, within walking distance of the Jazz Fest site (25 mins walk) and just a few minutes walk into the heart of the French Quarter. Buses run up N Rampart to Canal Street and Downtown. There are 2 mini-marts a short walking distance away, one of the city's popular restaurants (The Port Of Call) is just around the corner on Esplanade, and there is a variety of interesting restaurants and bars with live music on Frenchmans (a few minutes walk down N Rampart, in an area seemingly undiscovered by most tourists). The area is quiet and peaceful, and we walked at all times (including late at night) with no qualms for our safety.
The best of the three B&Bs; we have stayed in in New Orleans, and excellent value for money. We will return here on our next trip. -

We stayed three nights in the Grand Suite. It was lovely and the owners are so nice and helpful with information about the area. We have stayed in several hotels in the French Quarter and this was a much better experience. It is close enough to be convenient and far enough away that it is quiet.
You do have to park on the street, but we had no problem finding a spot the afternoon we arrived. We walked or took a taxi after that because parking in the quarter is quite a challenge. We never waited more than a few minutes for a cab.
