The ferry brings you to the foot of Canal Street. Take the Canal Street to Jazz Festival Fairgrounds Shuttle, or the City Park Streetcar to arrive at the Fairgrounds. Upon disembarking from the ferry, you are steps from the French Quarter, the Aquarium of the Americas and IMAX Theatre, the Audubon Institute Butterfly and Insectarium, the shops at Canal Place, the Riverwalk Mall, Harrah's Casino, Woldenburg Park, the (red) Canal and Riverfront Streetcar lines, and the (green) Saint Charles Ave Streetcar.
Experience the best views of the New Orleans skyline from the ferry and from the banks of the Mississippi on Algiers Point. Leave your car at home and walk, bike, or take streetcars around the city.
The ferry is free to pedestrians, bicycles, and pets. There is a $1 fee for cars traveling from Algiers Point to Canal St. There is no charge on the return trip. The hours of operation are 6:00 AM to midnight.
If you are traveling between midnight and 6 AM, it is approximately a 15-minute ride over the CCC Mississippi River bridge by car. Cab fare is about $20 from the Quarter to Algiers Point. During high demand events, such as Mardi Gras, the ferry converts to pedestrians, pets, and bicycles only. Parking is available at the dock if you wish to leave your car at the Algiers landing.
While on Algiers Point, enjoy Tout de Suite Coffee Shop and Cafe which includes vegetarian dishes on its breakfast and lunch menus. Vine and Dine has a fine selection of wine, beer, and cheeses on its bistro menu. Enjoy local NOLA fare alongside the river at the Dry Dock Restaurant and Bar.
Visit our English pub style Crown and Anchor bar and play a game of darts with the local crowd. Also, stop by a great music venue, the Old Point Bar, also known as "Little Hollywood." It is the most filmed bar in the South.
Enhance your New Orleans vacation with this living local experience. Woldenburg Park is a French Quarter Festival music and food venue. Tour the city driving, or walk through the Quarter and ride our street car lines arriving at many historic areas around New Orleans. We are a favorite of our guests who are taking cruises out of the port of New Orleans. To map distances to your areas of interest, begin at 1 Canal Street, New Orleans, 70340, only minutes from the Cottage. (Most GPS and mapping software will route you across the Mississippi Bridge taking 15 minutes by car instead of 5 minutes to reach the foot of Canal St.) The Cottage is less than 4 blocks from the dock, and an ideal "home away from home" vantage point from which to enjoy the best of New Orleans.

Sheila and her family were great to host. We always enjoy families who are excited and have a great New Orleans experience from our living local Cottage. This family was very neat, respectful of the property, and a pleasure to meet. We would have them again anytime and recommend them to any host. Thanks again, Sheila!

Terry and Sue
Boulder, CoGreat location for the Big Easy
Left on 01/30/2013 for a stay in January 2013
My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed the location and the house. Full amenities and even some treats in the fridge upon our arrival. A 10 minute stroll to the free ferry and 10 minutes later you are on the River Walk. It was fun to join the locals on the ride into the city and see all the traffic on the Mississippi up close. Candy and Val were very helpful with suggestions for the city. Candy also gives food tours of the French Quarter and it's a great experience. This lady knows the city!

Tucson, AZGreat Place and great location
Left on 12/17/2012 for a stay in December 2012
I stayed here for a convention I was at. It was perfectly located right across the river from downtown, the convention center, Riverwalk and the casino. The ferry was free to ride across and $1 to take your car. The accommodations were perfect. Nice and fluffy bed. Clean clean and clean. Everything to feel at home... away from home. There is even parking right in the front. Excellent place to stay - I am ready to go back. Thanks Candance... Miller!!
