Stearns Pond ( a "lake" if it was any place but Maine) is almost a mile long and provides excellent swimming and fishing. The house is situated in the southeastern shore among in a friendly neighborhood of similar sized owner occupied homes. Pine Point road is well maintained and plowed gravel road, but a vehicle with above average traction is recommended in the winter.
The town of Bridgton is only eight miles of paved country roads away and has a wide variety of shopping and general amenities including groceries; restaurants and fast food; gift, specialty, and sport shops; a movie theatre/ pub combination; a department store and a drug store. Great hiking opportities are also available in nearby Evan's Notch in the White Mountain national Forest. A twenty five minute drive will take you to the heart of the Mount Washington Valley and the outlet shopping, and outdoor recreational mecca of North Conway, NH. Nearby ski resorts include Shawnee Peak (15 min.), Mt. Abram (30 Min.), Sunday River (40 Min) and Attitash (40 min). The new Oxford Casino is also about a 40 minute drive.
