Left on 05/08/2013 for a stay in April 2013

we are 2 couples of french people who shared this flat during 10 days. the flat is not conform at all at the advices we red. It's true that it is well situated but we never saw the "caretaker" Elena except to get the money. No new of the owner Sam during the stayn exceptthe last day! . Strange welcome! The flat was vetust and dirty. nothing in one bedroom to put the clothes and in the bathroom. the light was not working in one bedroom. When we were back home we sent a mail to the owner. No answer. We are very surprised by some good advices. But however we enjoyed New York!

Exceptional Value - Convenient and Spacious apartment!

Left on 08/01/2012 for a stay in May 2010

Sam was and excellent host! He went out of his way to ensure that I had everything I needed. He's always happy to answer questions, provide information, or help in any way. Professional and honest, a pleasure to do business with.

The well-equipped apartment was clean, well cared for, and very spacious (the pictures posted accurately represent the unit). The beds were comfy. Convenient location, quick walk to subway. Restaurants and markets closeby. I took this trip by myself, did a lot of walking and always felt safe.

I would definitely recommend this apartment and can't wait to go back! The service provided by the owner made all the difference in the world (thanks Sam)!

Really great stay, great for first time visitors

Left on 08/26/2011 for a stay in July 2011

This place was great. Large, clean, great neighborhood right in Manhattan.

We were in this nice little neighborhood it wasn't overly touristy, and there was so much to do right in our immediate area. There was this huge mall just 2 blocks away, Hudson River Plaza or East River Plaza, something like that, Anyway, they had everything there, there were nice little restaurants, and best of all the prices for stuff i the area were like half what they were in the touristy areas. We would have dinner for $40 for 2 people, and in the tourist areas it would be minimum $70-80. It's not just the apartment that was great, but you avoid the tourist traps. At the same time though, we were right by the subway which was great. For our first time, we were so delighted with NYC.

Amazing Stay, Amazing Price, Can't ask For More

Left on 08/26/2011 for a stay in August 2011

This place was excellent. My wife and I took our 2nd anniversary in NYC and chose to stay at this apartment. We were traveling with our best friends as well and were on a tight budget. The price was unbeatable for the quality of apartment.

The unit was clean, large, it had internet, cable, and the service by Sam was great. Elena the caretaker was always attentive and we were able to enjoy our trip without breaking the bank.

The subway was safe, clean, and best of all, near by. We saw all of Manhattan in 10 days, pretty impressive.

      Good enough

Left on 08/12/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Apartment is clean and well kept, the surrounding area not. A little bit far from the main atraccions in the City, but not a problem with the public transportation. There is not enough information pertaining the arrival procedures, including knowing who and how manage the place. Other than that, a good experience.

I do apologize about the conditions of the building hallways, as we are in the process of some renovations. The appearance of the hallways are important, and we hope to have the work finished in the next couple of weeks.

As far as not being close enough to attractions, we are just 15 minutes from Times Square by train. And the subway is just 2 blocks away. While we are not right in the middle of Midtown, we are generally close esp. with public transportation so close by, as you correctly mentioned. We are within walking distance of Central Park, and other familiar sites. New York being such a large city with so much to offer, many attractions are scattered and while we can't be close to all areas of interest, our quick access to the subway, and our 4 bus lines which are just across the street from us, make all areas of the city readily accessible.

Lastly, your arrival was not as smooth as we had expected, but that was due to the late arrival of the shuttle service. I do manage the property, and my phone number was given to your party for any and all questions. My caretaker Elena, deals with most day to day issues as well, and she is always on hand as she lives in the building. If there were any questions, concerns or needs, you were free to call me at my phone number, however, I never received a call from your party during your stay.

I must say i was surprised by this review, I take great pains to ensure that our apartment is in top condition and that all of our amenities are of the highest standards which is evidenced by our past reviews. I will only say that our 2 bedroom apartment, while quite large, esp. by New York City standards is more than up to par for the number of people it is intended to accommodate. Even the best apartment, when over-crowded, can become uncomfortable. Your party went from the original 5 people, to 8 in a 2 bedroom unit, the apartment simply isn't meant to house that many people.

NOTE ABOUT APARTMENT SPACE: to future guests seeing this review confused about this response, because our unit is listed as a 12 person apartment. At the time of this review the unit was listed as a 6 person unit, and had two queen beds and an air matttress, we have since added a queen sofa bed, cot, and the air mattress remains. By itself, the unit can now sleep about 8 people, comfortably.

We list it for 12 because we also offer the adjacent apartment which then gives you 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 kitchens.

      A fantastic week!

Left on 07/12/2010 for a stay in May 2010

The apartment is perfect for spending a week in NYC with friends. It is located on 116th Street in Harlem. It is a peculiar area but with a special charm. It is a safe neighborhood and very typical americano.Tiene near a subway stop that takes you to either side of the city as well as bus lines. Excellent public. The apartment is perfect, has two rooms with two double beds, full kitchen and a bathroom with all amenities. It has a large living room. The apartment has air conditioning and Internet. The owner is a very amiable man and try to make it very easy to stay. In short, if I return to NYC would not hesitate to re-rent the apartment.

      Great price...Near Great food...Great time

Left on 07/02/2010 for a stay in June 2010

Coming to New York I was apprehensive that I would arrive and not be near my places of interests. But the subway was right there Midtown was a hop away and the village was minutes away too. This place was awesome there was a train stop really near, there was a market for buying grocery (save money where you can it is NY) and the little restaurant around the building were pretty tasty. This place is a must stay.

Overall our experience at the Harlem apartment was great. Sam our host was amazing, kept in contact with us leading up to our trip and during our 1 week stay in NYC. Anytime we had any questions or issues he addressed them straight away. Would definitely recommend to our friends and anyone looking for somewhere to stay in NYC.

      Thanks Sam!

      Awesome stay, great location

Left on 06/09/2010 for a stay in May 2010

Myself and 3 friends were travelling from australia and stayed in this apartment for 1 week. It is in the Spanish Harlem area, and is a great place to stay and a safe neighbourhood, we are all females and felt comfortable walking the streets. Its 2 blocks from the subway which takes you into Manhattan. The food in the area is great and the local juice bar downstairs was the best!

The apartment was everything we expected from the photos, what you see is what you get. It was clean and comfortable. Our apartment was located on the 4th floor of a walk up apartment building. It was a little bit of a struggle getting our luggage up the stairs, but Sam who checked us in had people help us with that. Sam was very accommodating, a great communicator and was happy to answer all our questions. We really had no complaints staying there and would happily be back on our next visit.

Thanks for the great review. We really appreciate it. We wanted to let you know that we have retained a full time baggage person to help with luggage for all of our guests. We also have 4 apartments on lower floors coming on the market, but I think you might want the top floor, because we've gotten that roof deck underway. We'll have a grill, bistro table and chairs, and much more available to our top floor guests at no additional cost. The deck will also be made available to our guests at lower floors for an additional cost to be determined later.
Also, to anyone reading, our location is in Uptown Manhattan and the subway on Lexington Ave. takes you to midtown, and lower Manhattan.

      Thanks again Ladies.

The apartment was clean and well-kept. Beds were comfortable. Sam was really great to work with! He booked the apartment last minute for me and was extremely helpful and accommodating, always available to answer any questions and quick to provide anything we needed. An honest businessman - how refreshing! The apartment is close to subways to take us anywhere we wanted to go. Restaurants and convenience stores close-by.
      A good overall experience.
