Additional Location Information
Harlem is a neighborhood of Manhattan located above Upper West and Upper East Side and that starts above Central Park. It has been a neglected neighborhood for many years of 20th century, but had a huge revival in the past 20 years with a lot of trendy restaurants, bars, jazz halls and beautiful churches. The activities, events and attractions bring not only tourists but also New Yorkers from different boroughs into Harlem every day. This can especially be seen on the weekend when all the trendy places get filled up by New Yorkers having brunch. Among famous sightseeing gems of Harlem are Apollo Theater and Sylviaβs restaurant. Harlem has a very extensive transportation system to any other part of Manhattan and other boroughs including almost all subway and buses. It only takes two subway stops by A train to get to Times Square from 125th Street stop by A train.

Wakefield, England, United KingdomAppauling accommodation
Left on 12/07/2012 for a stay in December 2012
Upon entering this accommodation my friends and I knew it was not up to standard. The accommodation was titled Delux, and that's what we expected, however it was anything but that. Apartment 603 was on the top floor and advertised as sleeping 5. The apartment had one bedroom with a double bed a bed settee in the kitchen/diner area which needed an Einstein to work out how you made it into a bed and in the cupboard in the bedroom was a foldup single bed. The bathroom was a disgrace, the shower flowed over the shower curtain because of its height flooding the bathroom, the water didn't go down the plug but gradually filled the bath at which point we had to use the provided plunger to get rid of it this brought up into the bath some sort of black slime. The bath grouting was discoloured and several tiles were coming off The bathroom cupboard was bulging with damp and there was no plug in the bathroom sink. The kitchen cooker didn't work, neither did the TV or Wi Fi, there was no kettle. There was a suspicious looking damp patch on the ceiling. The towels provided had to last 5 days there were no changes of towels or bed linen. Three sockets in the bedroom did not work. The waste bins were not emptied all the time we were there. Did we complain, well yes three times and nothing was done. Just to top it off on our final day we found one cockroach in the bathroom and one in the kitchen. Would we go again no the general cleanliness was grubby. Delux it was not.

Location, location. This apartment is ideal for all things New York...theatre,shopping,dining,transport! Though a bit run down and I don't know that I would want to put more than 2 people in here ( I was on my own) it was good for me. Plenty of linen,a good kitchen & dining set up, wifi (eventually) and phone - it was great. The bathroom was marginal. As I said a bit run down but that was ok for the price and location it was more than suitable.

Kent, EnglandGreat location , terrible appartment
Left on 09/25/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The appartment is really near to Times Square, and so in a great location. It doesn't look too bad from the outside, but as soon as you enter the lobby it has the air of a shabby hotel that you see on gangster films, with a totally disinterested person on the desk who has no interest or links to the appartment that you have booked.
We got the key as arranged from him and went up to the 2nd floor. The corridors continued the theme and there was an odd person hanging about which gave us the creeps.
The appartment was tiny which was not surprising given the location. There were views out of the window of other appartments, fire escapes and blocked off windows, again I suppose not too surprising given the location. But it was filthy with loads of cockroaches and a good sprinkling of bed bugs in the bed setee. The bed was OK , and the kitchen units seemed reasonably clean and new, but the floors were covered in dirt and looked as though they had not been cleaned for some time.
The worst of all though was the bathroom which was disgusting and filthy. It needed totally replacing. The tiles were obviously coming off the walls and they had been stuck back on with dreadful grouting. There was a delightful hole in the floor for the cockroaches to visit us (and we saw them doing so!!).
Another major problem was the lack of security, there obviously had been several locks on the door, but these were all broken (and our minds ran riot here!) except for one flimsy one. Even the chain was broken. Luckily no one came to the door while we were there.
We didn't have any contact with the rental company at all, except that they took our final payment from my credit card when I arrived, and I noticed they were based in St Petersburg, so little chance of any come back there.
We were very tempted to leave immediately but as we were only in New York for 3 days it wasn't really a good idea, and we were certain we would not have got a refund any way. -

What a great week, 3 minutes walk to Times Square. Apartment neat and tidy, secure, everything you need as you will be only sleeping there. Travelled with teenaged children and there were no complaints. Will stay here again for sure. The bonus was we could call home, in australia, for free from the apartment. This was great when you have elderly sick parents.
