The Metropolitan Museum of Art (also known as “The Met”) is an art museum on the eastern edge of Central Park which has always been a must-see attraction for those who visit New York. It is located on 5th Avenue and 82nd Street. Its permanent collection contains more than two million works of art and the exhibits include works of art from classical antiquity and Ancient Egypt, paintings and sculptures from nearly all the European masters, and an extensive collection of American and modern art. The Met also maintains extensive holdings of African, Asian, Oceanic, Byzantine, and Islamic art. The museum is also home to encyclopedic collections of musical instruments, costumes and accessories, and antique weapons and armor from around the world. Several notable interiors, ranging from 1st-century Rome through modern American design, are permanently installed in the Met's galleries. There is also Iris and Gerald Cantor Roof Garden which offers views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline, and features an annual summertime single artist sculpture exhibition. The Garden's cafe and bar is a popular museum spot during the mild-weathered months, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings when large crowds can lead to long lines at the elevators.
The Solomon Guggenheim Museum (often referred to as "The Guggenheim") is a well-known museum located on the 5th Avenue and 88th Street. It is the permanent home to a renowned collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, early Modern, and contemporary art and also features special exhibitions throughout the year. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, it is one of the 20th century's most important architectural landmarks. You might have seen this museum in movies. For example it is featured in Men in Black, When in Rome, Ugly Betty and prominently in The International, where a major shootout occurs in the museum (in fact, a life-size replica of the museum was built for this scene).

The movies include “Serendipity”, “Ghostbusters”, “Enchanted”, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and “Home Alone 2”.
