Home away from home in New York
My husband and I spent ten days in New York and this apartment was absolutely perfect in terms of location, comfort and amenities. Location...top floor of a very secure block, when you go down in the elevator and out the front door and turn right you end up at Central Park in about 5-10 minutes. From here you can continue on and walk about another 30 minutes to Times Square, you can catch a Hop on Hop Off bus along 5th avenue, go for a horse and buggy ride etc etc. Turn left when you come out of the building, walk two blocks (Park & Madison avenues) and you reach Lexington which has loads of restaurants, shops (including Bloomingdales) and the Metro Station.
Comfort...the bed is so luxurious - just perfect to flop into at the end of a long day exploring New York. All the furniture is beautiful quality and the bookcase has lots of tourist information.
Amenities...even thought the kitchen is tiny, it has all you need - a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, cutlery, crockery and glasses. We purchased some breakfast essentials from a mart on Lexington and enjoyed a nice leisurely breakfast each morning before heading out.
Having a washing machine and dryer in the basement was also a bonus.
And last of all, was the effervescent and gorgeous Marcia, the owner of the apartment. What a welcome! There were some lovely welcoming goodies when we checked in - thank you Marcia! And we had a couple of really great conversations. When we left we felt as if we were saying goodbye to a family member. Our 'apartment experience' added to our total enjoyment of our stay in this amazing city.
High-End Living in a High-End area
Our circumstances were unique due to Hurricane Sandy hitting NYC prior to our arrival and the Noreaster snow storm occurring during our week-long stay. That being said, our accomodations were very comfortable and never impacted by the weather. The apartment is well-equipped, secure, and convenient to Central Park, museums, shopping, restaurants, and grocery stores. It has old world charm with plenty of closet space, a comfortable bed, a kitchen and bath that were perfect for our needs. We lived like New Yorkers, using Marcia's (the manager) recommendations for local services, restaurants, subway access, etc. She was always available to ensure we were well taken care of, even supplying us with goodies and friendship throughout our stay. We look forward to returning to the same location for a longer stay next year. Thank you, Marcia, for all your kindness and concern.

Thanks for a terrific time during your staying in my apt and never the less for the great review! You without a doubt made easier for me to manage the situation we were going through after SANDY . It wasn't a very easy time but the smile on your faces and the enthusiasm and positive attitude made everything just perfect! It was a pleasure having you stay. I couldn't ask for better tenants.Looking forward to seeing you soon !
Location, Location, Location
This studio apartment is in a great location on the upper east side. You are moments away from the exclusive stores on Madison and a block and half from Central Park. You're also about 5 minutes walk from 77th Street subway on the 6 line.
The apartment itself is very comfortable. It also has an old school charm to it. But beware, this means that some of the fixtures and fittings are quite delicate.
The property manager was incredibly helpful and friendly and even offered to take me out down town and welcomed me with snacks and a bottle of wine.
Additionally, the apartment was cleaned to an impeccable standard before I arrived, carpets cleaned, not a speck of dust or dirt anywhere. Very impressive.
One downside is that while you can pay your deposit by Paypal, upon arrival they do not accept credit card payments, so after a long flight from London I found myself having to find a bank to withdraw cash to complete my transaction. This was a little annoying but if you know in advance, you can be prepared. Perhaps they told me but I missed that bit of information.
The kitchen area is basic but you can make a decent breakfast and tea and coffee. There is also a fridge and microwave so you don't have to rely on take out food for your whole stay.
The bathroom is a little funky. The sink has no plug (at least I couldn't find it). The shower is pretty weak but I think that's typical of these old buildings and the plug a strange plunger contraption on the floor outside the bath. It took me a while to figure that one out.
Linen was also provided (plenty of towels and fresh sheets).
You're very close to a large grocery store if you need anything else.
As a solo traveller this was an great property and would be ideally suited to either lone travellers, couples, or couples with a small kid.
This is a very reasonably priced property and I would definitely consider using it again when I return to NYC.

Dear Osho we thank you for your impressive review!
Considering this is AN OLD CHARM ON PARK AVE in a English Townhouse Elevator 1960's 60+year old bldg . Proper description Is well kept and fully renovated . There are no delicate fixtures the contrary their are bold . The shower as you said correctly it is a shower not a massage shower head. Water pressure is normal not stronger or weak.
Regarding your checking in and security deposit, you were advised in advance, and Im as the owner I was there to greed you myself ..so I don't understand why it was an inconvenience?.And agree for the size and location and apt itself its an excellent deal we are looking forward to your visit. Thanks again MARCIA
A wonderful apartment to come home to after a busy day exploring
Fabulously comfortable studio apartment situated in a beautiful tree lined street, just 2 minutes walk from Central Park. Wow, I could not have hoped for better. The apartment consists of a little entrance area, with a good sized closet with plenty of storage for hanging your clothes. There is also a small kitchenette. The bathroom has the traditional shower over the bathtub. There is also a laundry in the basement which you can use. The apartment is very secure and it is a lovely safe area.
The studio section of the apartment is extremely comfortable, especially the wonderful bed. We got a fantastic nights sleep in that wonderful bed. There is loads and loads of storage room in the studio area to keep your clothes.
The location is amazing. It is a 7 minute walk to the 77th or 68th Street Subway stations or even closer to the bus stops running along Madison avenue (you can get the 1, 2, 3 or 4 bus along Madison ave home from Midtown and you only have to walk about 3 minutes home from the bus stop on Madison ave - especially good option if you are tired). I loved feeling right at home in the wonderful Upper East Side with all the dog walkers and excellent eating options. The apartment is a really quick walk to the Met and also the Frick Gallery.
I had been worried about using an apartment because we have always stayed in hotels on our International travels. However, my fears were eased the minute I met Marcia. She is a wonderful host. She had the apartment stocked with essentials. She also left us some chocolates, some wonderful choc-caramel cookies and a bottle of wine. She even delivered us a second packet of the cookies after I said how much we liked them! What a champion! We will be definitely coming back. Also we should thank Marcia for allowing us to use the apartment until 3pm because we had a late flight out of JFK. That sort of service makes all the difference. The security deposit was also returned to us super fast.

Excellent Eastside apartment
We very much enjoyed staying in this apartment.Comfortable, Great location, great neighborhood... we felt like New Yorkers! Having this apartment made our week long stay in NY even better. The building is older, but very well maintained, quiet, and on a beautiful street.
Thank you Marcia for all of your attention to make sure we found just the right place for us!

I loved this apt. Marcia was great! She greeted us when we arrived and saw her another day during our stay. She responded to any questions we had regarding our apt. and the area. Cannot wait to rent it again. Felt like a real New Yorker. Away from the hustle and bustle of midtown. Close to dining, shopping, subway and Central Park. Great experience. Never had to wait for a cab. Wonderful experience. Apt. was lovely and clean. We had wine and chocolates that she left for us. Totally delightful experience.

Family holiday - Upper East Side
Jane and I had 10 nights here, and our son Harry age 12. The apartment is in a fantastic location on E73 St - beautiful tree lined streets, close to Central Park and subway. It's very classy and elegant in this neighbourhood and we spent a lot of time meeting the locals (and their dogs) in the park. Harry slept on a blow-up mattress which wasn't great as he loves a normal mattress. We used the kitchen only for breakfast juice, cereal, toast & the coffee maker. It's not really set-up for cooking proper meals due to lack of bench space. Marcia is sensational and we highly recommend her - very organised, professional and a vibrant personality.
Response from MPBHT & ASSOC - 09/09/2011
Dear Paul and Jane.
WOW!!!Thanks for the wonderful review! I'm so happy that you have enjoyed your stay. What darlings you are.
If I only would have known about Harry. We addressed prior to renting that we offer an air mattress instead of a regular twin bed. We at one time had a twin bed in the storage basement, but due to the infestation of bed bugs in NYC we decided to discard for safety sake. A good quality air mattress is more efficient and hygienic. Again, if I knew from the start, I would have gladly provided you with a regular twin bed.
For that apt Suite we don't have a KITCHEN. As the ads states it is a kitchenette. We offer a kitchenette with an electric oven, pots and pans and utensils etc. You could cook the basics; eggs, pasta, soup etc. Perhaps the one bedroom with the eat-in kitchen would have been more suitable, but you decided to go with the LUX SUITE.
Anyhow, we are glad that you did and we would like to thank you very much for being such lovely and very good tenants who took good care of my apartment as if it was your own. As I said you brought the Australians to NYC they are on their way here. Thank you again .MARCIA
Perfect Place in a Perfect Location
I stayed in this appartment for 2 weeks with my mom and grandmother. It was a great experience. First of all the location is magnificant (Uptown Manhattan), you have everything from supermarkets and pharmacies to delis around you (not more than a 2 min walking distance). The subway station is also very near. Marcia is more than a great host, she immediately makes you feel at home and provides you with all the information that you need to make your stay even more pleasant. The building is very secure, and the appartment is cosy and spacious. I would definitely come back again to New York, and I wouldnt stay anywhere else. Thank you Marcia.

Thank you very much for your kind words. You very welcome!
Looking forward to your next visit.
Regards to MOM AND GRANDMA!
I spent a week in this apartment in June 2011. Apartment location was excellent with Central Park and the subway a couple of blocks away. Plenty of dining and shopping options nearby. Building is in the Upper East Side and very well located. The bedroom/living room was very comfortable and well furnished. Bathroom and kitchen are small, but had all the essentials. Marcia is very firendly and helpful in terms of tips for dining and gereral information.

We will love to have you back , bring the girl friend next time as you said you would, the place is perfect for a romantic getaway!
All the best
Live like a local in Upper East Side style!
Spent a lovely week in this apartment in May 2011.
Apartment location was excellent with Central Park a couple of blocks away and a subway station and a D'Agostino store only a few minutes walk away. Plenty of dining options nearby on Lexington ave too.
Apartment building itself was very quiet, no noise issues at all. Its set in the lovely Upper East Side that's mostly residential with very well-to-do Park avenue just seconds away! The bedroom/living room was very comfortable and well furnished. Bathroom was small but perfectly useable, kitchen was also small but had all of the essentials: it even had 2 fridges!
In terms of facilities in the apartment, the only thing I found lacking was an iron/ironing board and hangars for hanging clothes on the rail in the wardrobe. Thankfully and very helpfully the landlady Marcia got us an iron to use straightaway when we mentioned this. Marcia was very firendly and helpful too in terms of giving tips for dining, etc. in the area and in New York City in general.
Definitely would recommend the apartment to a friend: it offered us more flexibility and was more homely than any similarly priced hotel.

Great apartment with a really nice view. Get's plenty of light. Amenities were really good and most importantly the location is perfect for someone who appreciates central park. This is one of the best locations in New York.

The very best
I have rented the one bedroom before same bldg but wasn't available this time.I took the large suite.
Superb stay, very spacious, immaculate apt big large suite, very elegant and very cozy. location superb, strongly recommended.Better stay than at a hotel in that location and what great deal!
Response from MPBHT & ASSOC - 02/23/2011
Thank you! You will always be welcome
My friends and I had a great time at this apartment. It was easy to get to and from via the train. It was only 3 blocks from the subway.
The room was nice and spacious especially for 3 girls who came to New York to shop.
The only downside was the bathroom door didnt close all the way. But that was no problem.
Marcia was very friendly and helpful to us. She was able to direct us to many different places to eat, drink or shop.
Response from MPBHT & ASSOC - 01/26/2011
I’m glad you guys had a great time, and it is important to be made aware of your opinion. The unit has 2 doors that lead to the bathroom; one from the bedroom and one from the kitchen. Due to recent renovations which included new carpeting, the door has to be pushed to close due to the thickness of the carpeting.
It has to be pushed closed and locked from the inside. Thanks for your review and kind words!
It took us a while to find a great place to stay in NYC. we finally found an apt on upper east side. Service was great, it was such a good location, save and quite, which is really rear in NYC. Marcia gave us great tips about places of interest, she was extremely helpful. We had a great time!!! Thank you
The experience I'll never forget
The owner Marcia has been responding promptly during our email communication regarding reservation etc before me and my girlfriend arrive in NYC. Upon check-in, she greet us at the apartment with champange and chocolate, which gave us a surprise.
The apartment has a spacious bedroom. Furniture are high-class European-style, nothing like Ikea-style cheap stuff. Bed is very comfatable, sofa and table are useful which differenciate the room from similar hotel room. There are also plenty of storage spaces (2 closet drawers and a storage room for luggages). Kitchen are fully equipped with cooking tools. We made breakfast everyday during our stay.
Location is superb, 2 mins walk to main shopping area like Dior, Channel's store on Madison ave. 2mins walk to Central Park. The only down side is it takes about 5-10 mins walk to the nearest metro station.
Basically we like everything about the apartment and we will definitely come back for our next trip to NYC. The only thing has room to improve we think is if the bed sheets/duvet provided been be a little more expensive then everytihng is beyond perfect.
Response from MPBHT & ASSOC - 01/12/2011
Thanks for your review , we cant wait to have you back!
And as Im very new with FLepkeys you were the very first, I take upon on the duvet, but the linens are cotton, silk and finest not cheap, we dont have duvet for the bed because it doesnt call for it!.
I will improve the linens.
Thanks you very much for your kind words,
