Our house is just a few yards away from the brand new Clipper City Rail Trail Walk or bike along the1.1 mile multi-use pathway. There are a number of stairway and spur trail connections to side streets, as well as amenities such as Haley’s Ice Cream and the Graf Ice Skating Rink, and various bakeries, coffee shops, and restaurants are located a short distance from the trail.

Just a block and half away is downtown Newburyport's Market Square where holiday events and live entertainment go on. Walk and hike along the beaches of Plum Island, through marshland of the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, and into the woods of Maudslay State Park. Stroll along High Street and admire the Federal Mansions or watch the boats on the Merrimack as you make your way down the boardwalk.

There are whale watch cruises with Newburyport Whale Watch, deep-sea fishing boats, evening party boats, public docks, sunset cruises, and harbor tours. Numerous yacht clubs and marinas are within a short distance of downtown.
