Waterfoot B2 Apartment is a beautiful, luxurious and spacious three bedroom, ground floor apartment with a spacious terrace that has breathtaking views over Newcastle Bay and the Mourne Mountains. ( NOW WITH FREE WI-FI TOO! )
It is a fully equipped and beautifully presented 4* facility and very much "home from home." The apartment offers a fabulous waterfront setting, with unrestricted views out to sea. It is close to the shops, cafes, restaurants and coastal walks, such as Newcastle's new promenade and, of course, is only metres from the beach. This apartment is in the exclusive Waterfoot complex in the centre of Newcastle. Royal Coun...Read more
B2 Waterfoot Seafront Apt Newcastle
Newcastle, County Down, Northern Ireland
Additional Location Information
Newcastle lies approx. 30 miles south of Belfast. Belfast is where the main air and sea ports are located It takes approx 1 hour to travel from Belfast to Newcastle.
As you drive towards Newcastle you will leave the built up areas behind and drive through some of the most beautiful countryside that Ireland has to offer. From wide open fields to forests with ancient trees, to estates with country houses and deer to Middle age castles and Forts. This area has it all. As you approach Newcastle itself you pass through the quaint seaside village of Dundrum with its wonderful Bay views and also some fabulous restaurants to, suit any pocket. Soon you begin to notice the majestic Mourne Mountains hovering in the distance. Some days they look inviting, covered in sunshine - other days they look brooding and menacing as the dark mists swirl. As you drive along main strret the mountains are directly in front - reminds me of Banff in Canada - but on a smaller scale. The mountain and seaside location is fabulous. There are many walks and hikes to suit all abilities and there are now plenty of outdoor pursuit centres that offer all kinds of activities from canoeing to rock climbing. There is always plenty to do. The area is beautiful for a drive or you can leave the car behind - hop on a local bus and travel around the coast to sight-see, shop or discover. There is just so much to do in what is really quite a small area. The apartment is right in the middle of town, close to everything, on the seafront - a better location would be hard to find! Imagine sitting having breakfast or just a coffee on the terrace, gazing out on a beautiful calm blue sea - or it could be rough and crazy! - and chilling out - absolutely amazing.

What Past Guests Are Saying
I stayed here with my parents in Feb, and we absolutely loved it. Very clean, beautiful apartment with gorgeous views and great location- right in town and close to the beach.
Response from Mrs Fran Neill - 04/20/2013
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you were happy with everything and hopefully we will see you again when you are visiting family. Best wishes, Fran

The most relaxing weekend ever!
Gorgeous, roomy and well-equipped apartment. Amazing views. Could have just sat, drinking hot chocolate and watching the waves roll in forever!
Response from Mrs Fran Neill - 03/25/2013
Certainly a great place to chill and unwind - I enjoy the hot chocolate too with a big cookie! - and the waves! Have a lovely Easter and see you soon. Thank you for taking the time to write a review - much appreciated.
Christmas by sea
A lovely Christmas vacation with family in Newcastle Co. Down. The apartment was spacious and well situated. We were very comfortable and delighted that a Christmas tree and decorations had been provided. We enjoyed a delicious lazy brunch in the nearby Maude's cafe the day after our arrival and were lucky enough to wake up to a beautiful sunny view of the beach on Christmas morning. The only drawback for us was the lack of a dishwasher. On a practical level the apartment was clean and well supplied with crockery and cutlery. It's notable that there are small additional charges for towels, electricty and heating if you go over what is expected.
Response from Mrs Fran Neill - 01/18/2013
Im glad you had a very enjoyable Christmas back home in Newcastle. Thank you for taking the time to write about your visit.
I will take your suggestion about the dishwasher on board and see what we can do to accomodate this.

Home from home, great views of seafront. Very convenient to shops and Restaurants. This has been my fifth year staying, I am looking forward to my sixth august 2013.
Response from Mrs Fran Neill - 01/18/2013
Hi Sally and Nicole P
Hope you the family had a great Christmas. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are looking forward to seeing you again in 2013 and hopefully the sun will be shining!

The flat is so comfortable, we felt right at home - but I wish h
The first thing I noted was how safe and secure the flat is even though it is on the ground floor. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to cook for the full six people it can sleep. The lounge and bedrooms are very well furnished and the panoramic view across Newcastle bay is superb.
Two minutes takes you on to the main street of Newcastle with its great spread of shops cafes and places of entertainment. A real jem suitable for all ages.
Response from Mrs Fran Neill - 01/03/2013
Lovely to hear from you. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay - I'm looking forward to seeing you again in June. We didn't manage to see a basking shark this time in the Bay but maybe next year! Thank you for your home-made shortbread and raspberry jam - they were delicious.
Can I take this opportunity to wish you and your family Best Wishes for 2013. Take care. Regards - Fran xo
Nice views spoilt by extra charges
We stayed here for 4 days in November 2012. The views from the apartment are stunning and its furnished to an ok standard but we were particularly annoyed by being charged extra money on departure for using heating. We were there with our one year old child and so we only used the heating as was necessary for a cold November weekend.
They also tried to initally charge us more than the discounted rate offered on the website
Response from Mrs Fran Neill - 01/03/2013
I feel that I should respond to this review as it questions my honesty and integrity which I cannot allow!
Issue 1 - "furnished to an ok standard" - The apartment has been awarded 4* rating by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. This speaks for itself!
Issue 2 - "extra money" - In the Booking Terms and Conditions it clearly states that there is a generous heating allowance - a booking is not taken unless these conditions are read and understood and signed as being understood. Clients are also reminded on arrival. This was introduced a number of years ago because some clients left heating on 24/7 even when they were out of the apt and with recent fuel increases it does make more economic sense that clients take more care, just as we all do at home. There has never been a problem until now. The extra cost involved here was £10. On checking out this client had actually left the heating on!
Issue 3 "one year old child" - I was informed that the child was 19 months old and able to run about the apt and play ball on the terrace.
Issue 4 "charge us more" - Yes - I hold my hands up as guilty in that I gave them the normal price and not the special offer price - due to a serious family illness and being extremely busy and rushing around - but that is really no excuse. On realising my mistake I then offered the special price plus a further discount which they accepted.
This client has failed to mention that I was extremely flexible - early check-in and a very late check-out to allow them to have as long a time in the apt as possible. Free use of a high chair and travel cot. Nor was I informed that there would be another couple staying in the apt for part of the time. This was not stated on their booking form, which is a requirement, under health and safety.
I have been communicating with this client through e-mail - basically she threatened me with a negative review - so here we are!
I try to be as fair as possible with everyone. I have been in this business for 10+ years and never received such comments. I like everyone to have a very positive experience in Newcastle. I have made so many wonderful friends from across the world who return and stay time and time again. If you are thinking of booking B2 please be reassured - everything is absoluely fine. If you have any queries or concerns please ring or e-mail or even skype me.
Can I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and Best Wishes for 2013

A spacious, well kept, comfortable apartment with all you need for a great stay. Loved the location as it's very convenient to the main street of Newcastle and the beach, great views out over the sea and the Mourne Mountains from the balcony, and has secure car parking.
London, United Kingdom
This property is sited right in the town centre with the most beautiful view of the beach possible. The apartment is very well equipped, very clean and well furnished - it had everything you would need as a family group with excellent support from the owner - cannot recommend this highly enough.
We four sisters come back to Newcastle where we grew up, rekindling childhood memories. The apartment is perfect for staying in Newcastle being on the seafront with views of the Mourne mountains in the background. It's clean and comfortable with all the facilities you need if you decide not to use the local eateries - although there is lots of choice in the town.
Thhis was so good I have booked three weeks next year. I would have booked more only I have not won the lottery yet. What can I say only fantastic
Excellent location on the seaside
Great appartment, we have stayed here twice with small kids and really enjoyed it. The view over the sea after opening the curtains in the morning is superb. At high tide the sea comes right up to the causeway and at low tide the sand stretches out into the distance. The appartment is great, plenty of space and with balcony. It is well equiped and clean. The entry by car or foot through the gate system works well. For the kids having the beach just outside is fantastic, and there is lovely playground 2 minutes walk away. For us as adults a plus is that one of us can easily pop out to the shops on foot whilst the other adult stays behind. And Fran is ready to help out at short notice - when the microwave broke she brought a new one on the same day! In short, great location, great apartment and a very welcoming host!

First class apartment with marvellous views.
We had a lovely time in Newcastle, the apartment was 1st class, very comfortable with fantastic views. We got a nice welecome when we arrived by Fran. The kids and alan really enjoyed the tin of sweets. thanxs. The location is rite in the middle of newcastle, so it was nice to walk to things.James really enjoyed the play park at the front near the sea and also he liked the swans. He had such a laugh! The girls enjoyed the butterfly farm and there maze garden. Newcastle is a lovely town with lots to do for all age groups. It was the first time we stayed in an apartment ,we still cant believe how quiet it was! It was so peaceful looking out in the morning to the sea views. We hope to be back next year. frm glenda and family
Our regular home reunion
My 3 sisters and I regularly visit Newcastle where we were born. What makes our reunions more memorable is that we have found the perfect appartment that suits our every needs. The appartment is perfect because being in the centre of Newcastle it is close to all ameneties - shops, beach and promenade and the bus station (we dont have transport). Our view from the appartment is spectacular taking in the Mourne Mountains the sea and the beach.
We always find the appartment clean and tidy when we arrive. Mrs Neil is always there to greet us after our long journey from England
Home from Home. Newcastle.
Our stay in Newcastle was brilliant. A very sad time for our family and we were made so welcome by Fran and her family, so caring.
What more could we need, the views of the "bay" and wonderful mountains and the sun rises were priceless.
The apartment catered for all we needed comfortable and homely with extra thoughtful information we may use while relaxing.
The main thing that helped was the
apartment was so central for all the ammenities to spoil ourselves with and a short walk to the bus services.
We are returning in October and gladly recommend to friends and family.
Excellent holiday home
Having stayed in apt B2 Waterfoot several times now I would highly reccomend it to people of all ages, i stayed with my Husband and Parents on our most recent stay, but have also stayed in the past with a group of friends, could also highly reccomend for famlies with children. Apartment is ideally located, close to shops bars and resturants. Views from apartment are stunning, so relaxing. Fran is very accomodating and lovely to deal with, never any problems with check in/out. All in all an excellent place to stay, reasonably priced, clean and very spacious base for your holiday.

Excellent rental with a great view and a great price!
Fran was very accommodating to all of our questions before we arrived(which we had lots of!), she was flexible with our check-in time, and was just an all-around friendly person with a professional attitude.
Great location, right on the main street. Lovely balcony with view of the ocean, perfect for a romantic dinner of beer and pizza (both purchased during a pleasant walk down the main street). :) It was also great to have our own underground parking space!
The apartment was exactly as pictured and very clean!
There were only two negatives (which are not deal breakers at all of course!) One was that the main bathroom was just a tub, while the shower was in the master bathroom. Since I was the person sleeping in one of the other rooms, I had to wait until those in the master woke up for me to go shower. The other was that the washing machine just filled with water and drained, clothes ended up just being sopping wet and we had to wring them out and hang them up which was quite time consuming when we thought we were going to have the luxury of a washer/dryer.
Overall, this apartment was a great find and if I ever travel to Newcastle again, I'll be checking the availability here first!
Response from Mrs Fran Neill - 01/17/2011
Thankyou for your kind words
Sorry you had trouble with the washing machine - you should have phoned me immediately - I think you had the rinse/hold button pushed in - hence all the water.
As for bathroom and shower - nothing i can change - but stll handy to have 2 bathrooms!

Stunning views in central location!!!
.Excellent views, excellent location, excellent apartment!!! Fran and Frances were a delight to deal with, always at the end of the phone should you have any queries. My mum has difficulties with walking, but with no stairs and everything on 1 level it was perfect. the views from the windows are like picture postcards and you are within walking distance to everything. You only have to read the comments in the visitors book to know that to Fran this is much more than just a business, the personal touch is very apparent and I would highly recommend the apartment to anyone young or old.
Response from Mrs Fran Neill - 09/01/2011
Thankn you for your kind words. I do like to meet everyone and make sure that they have everything they need. Frances and I have made some wonderful friends over the years as people return time and time again. See you soon.

What more can you ask for?
We found this apartment on the NI Tourist Board website. Originally from the area, expanding families mean that it is no longer an option to stay with parents! The apartment seemed to be just the ticket on the website ... and I can assure you it lived up to its promise.
Located right on the seafront, it couldnt be closer to all the main attractions. The apartment was very clean, spacious and practical. The kids loved the fact it was right on the seafront and close for ice cream!
Fran was very helpful and made every effort to ensure that all was Ok for our arrival.
We enjoyed it so much we plan to go back before Christmas!
This is the 4th time we have stayed in B2 Waterfoot. It is so handy for everything around Newcastle. It is right on the seafront and in the morning just to walk out on to the patio or sit on the loungers and breathe in the sea air is just out of this world - you just can't get closer to the sea. Its a wonderful place to chill out and the wall on the patio keeps everything quite private. This year we think we saw otters under the bridge. The apartment itself is great - always spotless. Everything is there that you need.. Fran and her helper Frances are wonderful - they give great advice and suggestions for activities as well as being so friendly - its just like coming home everytime we visit. I just love this place and hopefully we will be able to take a winter break this year. I love this place out of season. Two minutes and you can be on a deserted beach - fabulous location.
The apartment was more than we had expected, better, very clean and well maintained. All the things you would require for self catering. Well furnished and very comfortable. The apartments are in the town centre. Its location made all the amities very close, shops, eating places and pubs. Good base to visit the Downs and surrounding area.
Spectacular views from the apartment onto the Mountains and sea, beautiful.
Perfect place to stay, and view second to none
Stayed for a week this year and last year.
The appartment is in the perfect place, over looking the sea, bridge and mourne mountains in the back ground.
You have a high street just outside, yet you can't hear anything.
Everything you need for the perfect holiday is in Newcastle.
