NOTE: Flipkey uses BING maps, which does not show Rock River!, a large river that flows right in front of our property - 100 ft of waterfront, and it enters the West River, shown on the map, just beyond the Rt 30 overpass bridge. You may recall in the news, Rock River was significantly affected by Hurricane Irene. We gained 1/8 of an acre of beach just by chance...the power of Mother Nature!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our 1 year anniversary. We were looking for something private and relaxing, and we definitely found it!
When we first got to Vermont there was a little mix-up as we did not yet have the address and had the wrong number for Liz. She has two numbers so just make sure you have both if you need to contact her.
Once we figured out the address and arrived at the cottage we were happy about the choice we had made! First let me say that yes it's a small cottage but it's incredibly cozy, clean and absolutely perfect for a couple that is looking to spend some quality time together away from the craziness of everyday life. We even brought our two dogs and never felt the space was too small for us.
Liz has really made it so you feel at home and has literally thought of everything. There were a few things we forgot to bring but found them all at the cottage. From face lotion to awesome old videos to can openers...it was all there! The hot tub was also a nice extra! The river right below us was crystal clear and ideal for our dogs as they love to swim. If the water was a little warmer (our visit was in the Spring) we would have joined them! There's also a fire pit with chairs down by the water for chilly nights.
I read some reviews about nude people on the beach...the small beach area directly below the cottage was very private and we didn't see anyone else down there. If you walk further down the path to the swimming holes there will be other people but that is to be expected as its not a private area.
The location is great too since it is only 10 min from Brattleboro and 5-10 min from places in Newfane. Liz has a sheet of all this info waiting for you at the cottage.
Before we left, Liz definitely made it up to us for the initial mix up, with a kind gift, which was greatly appreciated! All in all, we had a wonderful getaway and will definitely be returning!

Harley brings up a very important point... If yours is a last minute booking, please be sure not to head up without directions, but if you do, all of my correspondence contains my home address, which is on GPS. The cottage is not on GPS. As explained in the information I send, directions and check-in inofrmation are generally sent with confirmation that the deposit is received. If you are to arrive before the deposit, please be sure to ask for directions at least a day in advance.

My husband and I and another couple stayed for a long weekend at the cottage. It is a convenient location in Vermont, close to interstate 90 and only about 35-40 minutes to Mt Snow and Mt Stratton. The cottage itself is adorable, cozy living room, with pull out couch and a lofted (but still private) upstairs bedroom. The hot tub was the best, after a long day of snowboarding. The cottage has all amenities you would need.Its on the small side for four people, but there was plenty of room for my liking. Liz the owner is very easy going and accommodating. The cottage is on a dead end road, which is great, the only downside is that the main road off the dead end road was busy, and a little too busy to walk the dog, so we would take him to other places nearby to run around.

In the Wintertime, the snowmass prevents access to the beach and the path along the river. Since the beach is below the cottage, it's a great place for dogs to play and swim safely while you relax by the river, accessible April through November for sure!

The stay at The Rock River Cottage was wonderful. My husband and I got to enjoy a relaxing beautiful weekend in the woods of Vermont. Liz provided everything and anything we needed. All we had to bring were our clothes and what we wanted to eat and drink. If you are looking for a relaxing place with beautiful views in a adorable rustic cottage I strongly suggest visiting The Rock River Cottage. We are already planning on another stay in the next month.
