Perfectly situated at the top of Tors Cove, it is on Newfoundland’s southern shore in the peninsula voted the best coastal destination in the world by National Geographic. Avista House is beautifully set above the settlement of Tors Cove (population 325 when everyone is at home) with stunning views over the cove and ocean with Fox Island and Great and Ship Island Bird Sanctuaries beyond. It is quietly situated next door to the church with views of the handsome steeple and is directly on the East Coast Trail offering more than 260 km of first class hiking along some of the most scenic coastline in the world. If you prefer to drive, take the Irish Loop - a 312 km historic drive into the heart of Irish Newfoundland and the magic world of whales and seabirds. Avista House has ample off road parking and is just off highway 10 - a 45 minute drive from St John's and all that extraordinary city has to offer.
