This house need a face lift very badly. The house is dirty the furniture so old and dirty you can even guess what the original color was. Beside that the week we were there was hot the temperature inside the house from 12:00 noon to 8 :00 PM was over 85 degree we actually had to move my family to another place for 3 out of 7 nights. Burr White has promised us to give us some refund I have not heard back yet. But overall the vacation turn out to be more than what we bargain for in particular when you pay so much then you have to pay additional money just to be able to sleep at night.

917 E Balboa is a great rental for people looking for an affordable place seconds away from the beach and Balboa fun zone.
The only flaws were that the floors were a bit sandy upon move in, and we were provided with an incorrect wifi password. Other than that, I would highly recommend this property. It's spacious and has a good functioning kitchen and bbq.Response from Burr White Realty - 10/11/2012

Hi Rose, Thank you for reviewing your stay with us at Burr White. We were glad to hear that you were able to stick to your budget and still enjoy everything the Balboa Peninsula has to offer. We'll pass your feedback down to the cleaning department, and make sure that the IT department knows about the WIFI password. We hope to see you again next summer!

We had a wonderful time with our family at this beach house. We loved the location. It was perfect for teen and young adult children to go off having fun every minute.
The freezer didn't work right until about day 5 and we did ruin lots of ice cream and treats. The TV clicker didn't go to the TV and so until maintenance could fix that on day 2, we didn't use the TV. The maintenance guys tried their best.Response from Burr White Realty - 10/11/2012

Robert & Cheryl, thanks for taking the time to review your stay with us. Melted ice cream makes our heart sink, we're sorry to hear about that! We're glad to hear that the maintenance department made it out to the property to address the freezer, as well at the TV remote. Please come back to stay with us again next year, we'll make sure your treats stay in the frozen state they're designed for.

Newport Beach, CA917 E Balboa Pretty good
Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Overall pleased, except the following: not nearly enough paper products for the week (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.); blender top did not fit blender; garage door opener did not work properly. A few small things would make this a 5-star rather than
3.5 star experience. -

Furniture was dirty. Floor was dirty. TV had to be tinkered with to work properly. Faucets and showers dripped constantly. This property needs work. Not worth the rental fee.

Santa Maria, CaWe loved the location...

We loved the location of this condo and the roomy great room for our family gathering. However the interior, furniture, and appliances are getting rundown, the floor was dirty, and it lacked many basic supplies. Think about your stay like "camping in a house" and bring everything you need with you.

Fullerton, CANice Place But Not Really One House From The Sand
Left on 08/14/2008 for a stay in August 2008
This was a nice roomy place. The living room was huge and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was stocked nicely with appliances and dishes. It was frusrating that there wasn't a little bottle of dish soap, trash bags and not much Toilet paper. We left some for the next guests.
The most disapointing part was the location. It read one house from the sand. technically, I guess it was but you couldn't walk directly one house to get to the sand. You had to walk about five houses either direction and then walk two houses to the sand. I would have preferred to be closer but my trip wasn't planned until about six weeks before and this was one of the few available homes and in my price range. I should have investegated the location a bit more. Wireless internet would have also been nice but the staff at BURR WHITE was great! -
Visalia, CANice, casual home for large family...lot's of space.
Left on 07/30/2008 for a stay in July 2008
We did not spend too much time indoors (we were enjoying the beach!), but there were a few things that were disappointing: 1) The tile floors looked clean, but were actually very dirty. I could not walk around indoors without needing to wash the bottoms of my feet...even immediately after getting out of the shower. I chose to wear flip-flops inside at all times. 2)The master-bathroom's shower has drainage issues. It gets very clogged. 3)I believe dish soap or dishwashing detergent should be provided, since we are expected to clean the dishes prior to leaving. Neither of these were provided, but we did buy a small bottle of dish soap and left it behind for future tenants. 4) I also think trash bags should be provided, but they weren't...and maybe a broom and a back up roll of toilet paper?
Other than these things, which are pretty minor and all repairable, we had a great time. Our family was able to sit comfortably together in the large living room and slept very well in the evenings (beds were comfortable, too). We got just what we wanted, family-time and relaxing-time. Thank you. -

Overall our stay in Newport was a lot of fun. We worked hard to make it that way. The property we rented had a great location. It was roomy and comfortable.
Burr White represented the property to sleep 8, but that required four people sleep in two full beds which were a bottom bunks. This did not work. We are a family of seven and had to purchase an air mattress to supplement.
The kitchen lacked many basic items and had not a single cleaning supply. The same applied to the bathrooms. We had to go to the store on a daily basis to purchase items. Future renters need to plan on bringing their own soaps, cleansers, dish brushes, paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing detergent, etc. The inconvenience far out weighed the monetary issues.
The lighter on the BBQ did not work. This created quite a disappointment when we intended to BBQ a dinner one night. We settled for pizza delivery. A lighter in the kitchen would have averted the issue.
The floor in our particular property produced a fine black dust from sandy foot traffic. This made everything that our feet touched dirty black. I believe the glaze on the tiled floor was not appropriate for foot traffic.
Many issues arose that were inconvenient. When we arrived, the property had seven over full trash cans that smelled terribly and drew a large population of flies. It required three phone calls to have the trash removed. The pointer on the knob of the washing machine spun freely and made it impossible to determine what cycle and where in the cycle the indicator was pointing. This made the washing machine useless. The two sliding screens to the balcony were never on track. Although a DVD player was present, it had no connection to the TV. Again, a planned movie night was abandoned. (Same night as the planned BBQ.)
Overall our stay was adequate. The problems listed above inconvenienced us, but we did not let them detract from our vacation. -
Paradise Valley, AZSpare But Clean
Left on 06/10/2008 for a stay in June 2008
This is a small, no frills place so bring your own hangers, pool chairs/toys, and extra lamps. Our large SUV did not fit into the garage until we took off the bumper covering the trailer hitch. Otherwise, it was very clean and the location is perfect.
