Gt WalsinghamThe perfect place to stay to enjoy the beauty of Cornwall
Left on 04/13/2012 for a stay in March 2012
No. 8 Glendorgal was just perfect. Our daughters wedding was taking place in the Glendorgal Hotel and so No.8 was the perfect base. The Bride and Chief Bridesmaid stayed with us on the Friday night and so it was a hive of activity on the Saturday Morning!
The accommodation was light and spacious with amazing views. We were blessed with perfect weather too (more like July than March) which all helped to make it the perfect stay.
No. 8 was well equipped with everything we might need. It was very useful that each bedroom was en-suite too. The position is ideally suited to walking into Newquay and there is a Tesco Express nearby for shopping. There are also some amazing walks and beaches around the area of Glendorgal. Once the Bride and Groom had been despatched off we were able to chillout and enjoy exploring the area.
Dex our dog spent a very confused week trying to understand why 'living' was upstairs and his bed was downstairs!
It is difficult to find anything negative about our stay. The heating thermostat didn't work and the house always felt like a 100 degrees. We did report it, but although the owner came and had a look, no-one came to repair it during our stay. However, it didn't matter, we simply switched it off as the weather was so good.
The only other thing was that we found the surrounding properties, slightly rundown and in need of a 'spruce up'. We realise nothing can be done by the owners of No.8 but just had the feeling it all looked a bit tired.
Having said that, we absolutely loved our stay, would definitely return and will recommend to others. Many thanks.

Owner
Lorraine,.
Many thanks for your lovely comments about 8 Glendorgal, we really do appreciate it.
We strive to achieve that when our guests arrive there are no problems awaiting them. On the odd occasion however things do go wrong. We did attend within the hour of receiving your phone call regarding the thermostat and as discussed between your husband and Gerry, you were happy to continue your stay controlling the heat via the thermostats on each radiator. The engineer was booked in to repair the thermostat but could not attend until the day of your departure.
Many thanks once again for your feedback. -

This was a great location and perfect place to stay on our long weekend away. It was a short walk to the beach, close to town and had a fairly well equipped kitchen. We were traveling as a family of 4, plus 2 grandparents. It worked well for our situation. The apartment was clean and well maintained. We especially enjoyed the Pink Panther Dvd's - the girls had fun watching them with their grandpa!
A word of caution though - the top bunk bed rails were a bit short and we didn't feel comfortable letting either our children sleep there. They are 7 & 9 years old and are squirmy sleepers. I would have also packed black bin bags & extra towels. Because there are stairs in the apartment, it may be difficult for people with limited mobility and for toddlers. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and are looking at our calendar for a return visit.Response from Dawn McKenna - 05/15/2013

New for 2013, the owners have removed the bunk beds from the property and have replaced with twin beds. They have redecorated the en suite bathroom replacing the bath, new tiles and wash basin.

Ideal location a few steps one way Porth Beach, a few the other Lusty Glaze Beach. V
Quiet and peaceful, clean and tastefully decorated. Away from the Town centre, but also near enough to stroll into.
Near to the infamous Watergate Bay. Many great dining experiences, plenty of nearby
supermarkets. Brilliant holiday.
Had a minor issue while there, The Property company were brilliant, attended promptly and resolved quickly. -

Left on 11/13/2010 for a stay in November 2010
My wife and I took our teenage family during the first week in November. The house was situated just above Porth beach which provided stunning views. It was also well-located and within easy reach of the other Newquay beaches. The house itself was very comfortable, well and tastefully furnished with lots of extras that we hadn't anticipated.

Lucky for us we picked a great week in the rather sparse british summer, endless sunshine which was perfect as the house is in the best location for days on the beach. Nestling between Porth Beach - for the more relaxed family days on the beach, nice long shallow waters for the younger ones when tide is out and great! rockpooling. For the more active there is Lusty Glaze beach, with it's activity centre, beach bar and restuarant, takeaway hut. popular with surfers and families alike. Both beaches are within a few minutes walk, even with little ones, Newquay town centre is far enough to walk into or leave alone as you please. Heading over to watergate bay is a favourite walk along the cliffs for us, to have breakfast at the Beach Hut there. We have a 15yr old and 11yr both of which we saw very little of, which for us is a good sign, plenty for them to do and plenty of friends around. The house I simply love, imaculately kept, bed in master room is the most comfy bed ever, kids and their friends love the bunk room, would advise that older children maybe 10 or 11yrs upwards use top bunks. Love the personal touch of the place, and my favourite place the view from the balcony with my morning tea. Had a brilliant week!

The accommodation is the main focus of this review. The home is very well appointed, in great condition and ideal for this location with easy access to excellent beaches and equipped to cope with the best and worst of Cornwall's weather (we had both). Minor grumbles, around the fact that we have a one year old and the open plan living had no stairgate or protection. Also the hot water is one of those 'instant' types - only it was very hit & miss in the kitchen. I stress thought that these were minor and didn't spoil the holiday. Facilities around are as you would hope for and the only downer for us is the one unpredictable thing - the British weather, which didn't work out that well. Better luck next time - and yes , we would come back here,

This is a great base for visiting Newquay and the surrounding area. The location is excellent with great views north up the coast. The accommodation is of a high standard and although we had a few issues these were addressed very promptly.\
Would be happy to recommend and will be looking to return ourselves in the future.
