      A little slice of heaven...

Left on 10/28/2012 for a stay in June 2012

This has to be one of the greatest holidays that we have ever been on. From Isla's warm welcome to the chocolate cake that waited for us on arrival, everything was perfect. The Signalbox is clean, spacious and set in beautiful countryside. We never tired of looking out the windows at The Cairngorms. Our 18 month old son loved the trains that stopped or passed through the station and was in his element exploring the cottage. There is plenty to explore on your doorstep with the Highland Folk Museum about 25-30 minutes walk away and aviemore a short drive of 10-15 minutes. Further afield, we visited Inverness, Ben Nevis, the Wildlife Park at Kingussie and the nearby Inshriach Nursery that makes amazing cakes. Wonderful, hope to pop back sooner rather than later!

Perfect week! A great start to married life!

Left on 12/02/2011 for a stay in October 2011

The Signal Box was easy to find, close to pubs, shops and places to eat. The place itself was well kitted out with everything you could need! The Wildcat Walk was the best...I think it's based around kids, but becomes highly addictive!

      Very relaxing holiday

Left on 10/21/2011 for a stay in August 2011

A lovely comfortable cottage and a nice welcome from the owner with homemade cake. Cottage could not be better. Very clean and comfortable with great views. Only suggestion I would make would be that a tumble dryer would be useful for winter stays.

Wonderful property - one of the best we have ever stayed in. We enjoyed Isla's warm welcome and her fabulous chocolate cake. We could not fault anything about the Signal Box, fantastic location, warm and cosy, great wood burning stove and welcoming sauna after long days on the mountains. It was quite unexpected to find such a first rate holiday accommodation which also welcomed a dog. Newtonmore is a lovely village, ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy walks and wildlife. We also highly recommend the Letterbox restaurant in the village. A great week - we will return.

      You Don't Need A Car!

Left on 03/19/2010 for a stay in January 2010

Having the train literally on our doorstep really made this holiday. The
Signalbox is on the platform of Newtonmore station. We arrived by train and
left for home on the Caledonian Sleeper. We used the train to visit Inverness
and Aviemore, for skiing at Cairngorm and walking in the Glenmore Forest.
The cottage, with the living room and kitchen upstairs gave us lovely views
towards the Cairngorms. It also made us into noseyparkers: we couldn't resist
looking to see who got on and off the trains that stopped at the station! The
cottage was very well appointed even having a sauna cubicle downstairs. We
loved the log burner and the limitless supply of wood to keep it going. There
was a marked walking trail around Newtonmore, about 6 miles, that is well
worth doing. The village has a decent Co-op and the local garage has a shop
too. There are a couple of pubs in the village and at least one hotel open to
non-residents. One disappointment was that the restaurant recommended by
many in the Visitors Book was closed for the two weeks at the end of January
as was the most interesting looking shop in the village.

Delightful signal box - feeling of space, wonderful views.

Left on 02/04/2010 for a stay in December 2009

Greeted by the owner on our arrival at the station. A very special holiday home, with all home comforts on hand. Very clean, cosy and we enjoyed seeing the trains arriving each evening and early mornings. Great walks from the front door. Took the train to Avimore and spent the day walking at the Cairngorm Mountain centre. Short distance to the local shops. A lovely place to spend a relaxing week, with the bonus of wonderful scenery.

Beautiful property and a lovely location

Left on 12/30/2009 for a stay in February 2008

The house was well furnished with everything and more you could need. We used the sauna after enjoying long walks, this was a great benefit as it was during heavy snow and as you could imagine, quite cold.

The Calendonian sleeper train also passed on a regular basis but it didn't disturb our peace and quiet but qas really lovely to see.

The small town of Newtonmore served us well, we were within a short walking distance of local shops and pubs and we also took the train in preferance to the car - as it couldn't have been more convenient to use, being right on the doorstep.

We would recommend the area and the property for a lovely holiday. The kind owner of the property also left a tasty chocolate cake for us, which was a sweet (no pun intended!) touch.

This was our second visit and we've already booked a third visit as I write. This is a very comfortable base with excellent facilities which meet the demands of two adults and a teenage daughter! We find it very relaxing - comfy seats and woodburner plus excellant views. We have all made use of the sauna. There are good restaurants in the vicinity and we have also taken the train to Aviemore and also upto Inverness.

This was the perfect place to stay, a signal box by the railway. Fantastic views, watching the Rabbits and other wildlife. A good place to have a base to see other parts of Scotland. The accomadation was first class , the kitchen was a good size with all the tools you could ask for (except a thermomix tm31). We had a superb Week the weather was stunning. I can thoroughly recommend the wild Cat Trail (take a couple bottle of beers and remember the bottle opener) a very pleasent walk on a very sunny day. Please visit the museums well worth the effort. if you want to Stay in scotland this is the place

We arrived by train (if travelling long distance BOOK A SEAT!). We had a warm welcome with a welcome pack including milk in the fridge for tea! The house was immaculate and bright with brilliant views. Our children loved the spaciousness and the trains that passed. The surrounding walks were just right and the added plus of the sauna warmed us up after our long walks in the snow. There was a small shop within walking distance that had all the basics as well as movie rentals. We don't often go to the same place twice, but this one is tempting!
