Downers Grove, IllinoisIt was ok
Left on 11/05/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Travelled with wife, 22-year-old stepson and 4-month-old daughter.
The photos are largely accurate, although when we stayed there there was only one bed in each bedroom. If you look at them it looks like there's two photos of the same bathroom, but one is in the basement and one is first floor. They're otherwise nearly identical.
One bathroom on each floor - full upstairs, 3/4 on main floor and in basement. Two bedrooms up, one on main floor, and a room in the basement that I guess could be a bedroom but had no furniture. In general the bedrooms were sparsely furnished. Upstairs, one had a bed and two side tables, the other a bed, one side table and a six-drawer dresser.
If you're travelling with elderly, very young or anyone with mobility issues, be warned that the stairs between floors are very steep. I was uncomfortable carrying my daughter up and down, and carrying suitcases and tons of baby paraphernalia was unpleasant.
When we were there, there was some maintenance that was needed. Paint in the basement bath was peeling and every bathroom had either a towel bars or toilet paper holder that was loose or dangling. The burner in the BBQ was so rusted out as to be unusable (or at least looked unsafe. I've had my own rust out less than that and not work, so I didn't try it.) The bedside and sofa side tables and coffee tables are all Ikea "Lack" tables, and many of them are damaged and wobbly.
Despite those problems, the kitchen is reasonably well equipt, the sofas comfortable, the beds tolerable and the house is generally serviceable. There's a big bay window in the dining room, and our daughter loved laying there on a pad (with supervision, of course) and looking out, watching the street and the squirrels.
Calling it "downtown" is questionable; the house is within very easy walking distance to the Great Wolf Lodge - maybe a block or two to the edge of their parking lot. There are a few other restaurants (attached to hotels/motels) within reasonable walking distance, but aside from that and the GW Lodge we didn't find anything nearby worth visiting - just more houses.
As someone who has stayed in multi-million-dollar vacation homes in Hawaii and California, calling this "luxury" is really kind of questionable to me. The quality just isn't there. But maybe I've been spoiled. The price was about right for what we got (or would have been if everything were in good repair) but I don't think I'd call it "luxury."
We had a communications snafu when checking in, and wound up having to get a hotel room for our first night. Mike took care of the cost of the hotel room.Response from Homeaway Stays - 12/06/2012

Hudson, OHHockey trip
Left on 01/10/2011 for a stay in January 2011
I was traveling with my son's hockey team and we rented this home and the Contemporary home. Both were great for us because they were close to each other and allowed us to eat meals together but yet have more room to sleep. The grades 9 &10 were at the Contemporary home and the grades 11 & 12 were at the Modern Luxury home. Each group thought their house was perfect. They loved the flat screen TVs for watching hockey and playing with their Xboxes. Plenty of beds for everyone to spread out including the large couches in the finished basement. Everyone had a great time and I would definitely stay again.

We certainly look forward to having you back! Best of luck with your hockey tournaments. Niagara is a great place to hold tournaments and the new Gale Center facility is second to none.
