Portland, Maineperfect spot, all ages - clean, peaceful, ideal location
Left on 01/29/2013 for a stay in August 2012
We loved our stay at abigail House. This well-located, pretty cottage provided a safe, comfortable hideaway--complete with lush summer gardens and patio--for our family of four. The decor and furnishings are excellent quality, updated, cheerful, and cared for. The home was well-maintained and clean. The appliances were in good condition, and the owner has put a lot of thought into ensuring that everything is available to guests to make meals low-maintenance and the overall cottage stay hassle-free.
Our family of four walked, bicycled, and explored every nook and cranny of Niagara-on-the-Lake. We much appreciated returning to our lovely cottage and the quiet neighborhood at the end of each day--or even for lunch or a break as needed. Abigail House is an ideal location for coming and going during the day, especially if you have kids, or want an occasional break or rest.
A few-minutes walk put us right in the heart of the village, filled with flowers, shops, cafes and restaurants. We explored nearby parks and historic Fort George (War of 1812). We wanted to visit Niagara Falls, less than a half hour drive away, and we highly recommend staying in NOL rather than in the town of Niagara Falls. While NOL is one of the prettiest towns in Canada, Niagara Falls is the opposite. We were never so relieved to leave the dense crowds and noise of Niagara Falls and to return at the end of the day to peaceful Niagara On the Lake, and our beautiful cottage. To fully experience the power of the Niagara River and class 5 rapids, we took our boys (ages 11, 9) on the jet boats, which leave directly out of NOL. This was a great time and, although it's a little on the pricey side, we highly recommend this fun ride for adventurous kids and adults alike.
Our time in Niagara on the Lake was a favorite family vacation--and abigail Cottage provided the ideal spot from which our family could get the most out of this gorgeous spot, while being able to relax and enjoy each other.

One block away from the Commons, great walks to Oak Grove, or to the river and back through town, Two blocks from Main Street, the park, shopping and the theatre. Three season front porch to sit on plus an outdoor sheltered terrace. Well stocked with coffee in an old fashioned pantry off the kitchen. You cannot beat the comparative value you get from this property, our hands down favourite in this price range. Nice large, bright dining room. We have stayed in four other Niagara rental homes, in this one both spring and fall. If you like, organize your walks around this home's copy of Peter Stokes wonderful book of line drawings of old Niagara homes.
Janet and Eric have been great in getting us into our home away from home with just the right amount of attention and least amount of fuss. -

We had a great time while away in Niagara and staying at abigail house. The location couldn't be more perfect - literally 5 min from Old Town.
We had a group of 7 people and it was the perfect place to stay with plenty of room. Great backyard that we enjoyed and Bbq'd one night.
Couldn't recommend more for a quiet few days away! -

We celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary at this lovely cottage. We were 6 adults, 2 young adults and 2 kids and we were extremely comfortable...there was enough room for all of us. And at the same time, it was cozy, clean and felt like 'home'. The patio and backyard is awesome. We also loved the front porch. Peaceful, quiet but with easy access to the river, shops. We made some great meals in the kitchen - so convenient and a huge fridge too !
The cottage is well equipped and every room is so comfortable and quaint, having a character of its own.
The property manager welcomed us when we arrived.
Everyone in the family loved it and we would love to come back again some day.

Buffalo, NYWonderful Wine Weekend
Left on 05/31/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We stayed at the abigal House over Memorial Weekend 2011. We couldn't be more impressed with the house - great amenities, close to everything, and the beds were so comfortable...I wanted to take the bedding home with me. There is a nice 3 season porch which worked out wonderful for us during a rain & lighting storm. 2 full bathrooms was nice for the 6 guests to share - and very clean. Lots of kitchen supplies if you want to eat in. There is a great little coffee house just around the corner for the mornings, although they do provide coffee at the house. A short walk to a great pub, dining, shopping, a grocery store, and anything else you could want/need! We even took a 5 minute walk to the lake which was a nice surprise. It was a gem of a find on line as there are so many properties to choose from at Niagara on the Lake. We give this 5 stars for everything. Another bonus - the property managers were just wonderful to deal with on booking, which is hard to find at Notl!! We'll be back next year for sure!!! Everyone was very happy with their stay!!

Fergus, ONLovely and Relaxing Place to Unwind
Left on 04/20/2011 for a stay in April 2009
The abigail House is lovely and a fantastic place to stay! I have stayed at the abigail House on many occasions, from weekend trips with family and friends, to using the abigail House as my home base while attending Teacher's College in St. Catharine's. It is beautiful with hardwood floors throughout and a wonderful, relaxing clawfoot tub upstairs. It is in a perfect location; on a quiet street that is just steps away from the shops, restaurants, park, and Shaw Festival Theatre. My family and I love to stay at the abigail House to relax and enjoy Bbq's on the back patio surrounded by the beautiful flowers, take a walk to the shops, and discover all that Niagara-on-the-Lake has to offer. The abigail House is great for multiple families, as it has 4 bedrooms, a large dining room table, and a large, beautifully landscaped private yard. It is also child-friendly with twin beds in one of the rooms, the yard is fully-fenced, and at the end of the street is a park that has a pool. I would also recommend it to couples who want to relax in a beautiful spot. It is a beautiful place unwind in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake. My family and I are in the process of finally planning our next trip back to the abigail House this summer!

Abigail House is beautiful situated on a quiet street in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It is however close to the Shaw Theatres, boutiques and parks. The House has been tastefully appointed with modern amenities. The beds, in particular, were very comfortable.

We stayed over the valentine day weekend. The house was terrific - spotless and ready for our stay the moment we walked in. Lots of little amenities that you see in hotels but don't really expect when you rent a house. The coffee was great! The beds were great with huge pillows and soft comforters - it made the sleep terrific! Our hole family had a great time. Super location - close to the main strip so we just walked to the shops and restaurants.
