Stroll to the Connecticut shoreline in minutes and return to a woodsy setting for the evening. Waxwing End has two bedrooms and can sleep up to six people. The kitchen is well-equipped and dining can happen either on the deck or in the eat-in kitchen. Adjacent to the private neighborhood beach is the Rocky Neck State Park beach, a sandbar beach so suitable for small children.

Waxwing End sits near the crest of a hill whose feet is near the edge of the beach. Formerly (50 years ago) a summer cabin resort, larger homes now occupy most of the cabin sites. Niantic lies in the same county as the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos, as well as the ever-popular town of Mystic.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Gardener I wanted to take this opportunity to express my thanks and satisfaction after visitng connecticut and New England and having such a nice place to stay at. It was all so simple to just get off the plane and drive to your house, throw the baggage down and start my vacation without any hindrances. We were pleased to have all the stores we needed right at hand and being able to walk to the private beach in 5 minutes was perfect. After the beach we just threw the grill on and had dinner. The trips to Mystic and other historical spots were very interesting. Unfortunately the time was too short to see even half of what we wanted and we hope to book next year again. Thanks once again.

MarylandCozy place to stay--Great for kids

I wasn't so sure about this place at first. It has a very "old lady" feel to it and needed a good dusting of the knick-knacks. The bathroom and kitchen were very clean, and everything was set up nicely. We had a wonderful vacation with this cottage as our home base. It is associated with a private beach that hardly had any people. The few people that were on the beach were extremely friendly. The ocean was very shallow and our young children loved swimming. It was beyond fantastic to come home and throw the sandy clothes straight in the wash, then make a home cooked meal. It is near enough to Mystic to drive there for more entertainment (don't miss the Sea Port), but it was far enough away to not be a big tourist draw. We'd stay here again! It was perfect for our small family with young kids.
The set up was a bedroom with a queen sized bed and crib, and a bedroom with bunk beds. The living room had a regular futon and a single sized futon.
The owner was very easy to work with and returned our security deposit promptly. The only bad thing was the lack of online booking. We e-mailed each other, then I mailed in a check.Response from Gregory Gardener - 09/29/2012

"Old lady" feel? Friends have said that about every place I've owned! Guess it must be me. BTW, I'm not an old lady!
