      what an amazing experience!!!

Left on 03/12/2013 for a stay in March 2013

As I sit here on the outdoor couch on the patio with a glass of wine, I though this would be a great opportunity to write my review. First off, Clint is a great host. He met us on our second day in aruba to bring us to rancho azul. The house is super clean and the pictures do not do this place justice. The bedrooms are gorgeous and spacious. The pool is amazing and the view is even better. Rancho is close to all a emenities...close to palm beach angle eagle beach. Everything you need for a family retreat is here at rancho. I will never travel all inclusive again. Foxy, the neighbourhood dog has been with us every day, so treat her well. We have discovered that she is a picky eater...liking only hotdogs...not cooked and no dog treats! Lol! We travelled with 4 adults and 2 children undzer the age of 5. Clint has everything you will need to enjoh the beach. Chairs, toys, beach towels, etc. If you plan on visiting aruba book rancho azul! It will not disapoint! Thanks clint! We are having a great time!

A little bit of heaven but close to everything!

Left on 03/02/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We - 2 adults and four kids unter the age of 10 - spent a wonderful week at Rancho azul. The house is the second last in a street with nice houses, but we hardly noticed the neighbor house as it was so little and hidden.
Clint picked us up from the airport which was very helpful! Thanks again, Clint!
The house is very bright and the furniture is rustic colonial style and very tasteful. It's not brandnew anymore which made us even more comfortable as we didn't have to be too stressed with our little kids.
The house gets very hot during the day but the excellent air condition in the 3 bedrooms made the nights very comfortable.
Highlight is the pool/lounge area with the hammock, deck chairs and beautiful plants and arrangements. The patio is so private and the path behind the house is hardly used. Now end then horseback-riders, bikers and a few tourists with jeeps passed by. It's very quiet.
In the evening when the kids slept we looked at the sky and enjoyed the stars and the moon, the nightlights in the pool were very romantic.
Twice per week someone came to clean the pool.
Clint was very helpful to organize a travel cod for our son and exchanged a few broken bulbs of light fixtures.
Eagle Beach, Palm Beach and arachi Beach with lighthouse in the background are only a 5 Min. drive away. Arachi Beach was our favorite as there are many locals and not only tourists. The next big supermarket is about 10 min away, however there is another little one 2 minutes away (which wasn't that helpful really).
I didn't give 5 stars because of the kitchen equipment which doesn't meet the standard of the house as we didn't have enough silverware and the pots & pans were really old. We informed Clint about this and he was going to take care of this.
Some of the blinds don't open anymore, so we had to improvise here and there which wasn't really a big issue at all. We told Clint about this issue, too.
We had a wonderful time and we would definately book this rental again the next time on aruba and recommend it to friends.

      Beautiful garden

Left on 02/17/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We really enjoyed our holiday at Clints wonderful house - everything was even nicer than in the pictures. He picked us up at the airport and drove with us to the house, which was nice and clean.
The pool area is georgeus. We spent almost all our time in the garden by the pool or in the hammock. The great gas grill was used about every night.
There is nice walk to the beach - but no swimming here. Other beautiful beaches can by reached by car in only five minutes.
We can only recommend Clint's house to everyone.

      A perfect Vacation

Left on 02/03/2013 for a stay in January 2013

Myself my wife and our three adult children stayed at Rancho azul in mid January. The place is wonderful. With three bedrooms two baths it was perfect for a family or a group of friends. The property itself is wonderfully located away from the hotel strip but within easy distance. Clint the owner was very helpful. He met us at the airport to guide us and answer any questions we had. I highly recomend this property and would definately stay there again.

We have a great time in aruba. Rancho azul is a great location, the house is very clean and for 6 people is a good stay. Neat garden. The pool is also lovely. The location is very nice and it is also very quiet. You need a car. Clint (the owner) is a nice man who was also very helpful.
      Thanks Clint!

      A perfect, private honeymoon!

Left on 10/13/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We had an excellent stay at Rancho azul. Clint met us at the car rental and we followed him out to the house--very helpful.

Upon arrival, the house truly is as pictured-bright, fun, and welcoming. Aruba was continuously very hot but the breeze always went through the house with windows open. A/C was in each of the bedrooms, and both the showers were larger than expected. Many social lizards outside but they were pretty shy to us. There's another little green house right behind it that is also listed on Tripadvisor. Azul was much better.

I would highly recommend this house over a hotel depending on the person you are. My wife and I are pretty self-sufficient and enjoyed having a full kitchen, our own private pool, hammock, and lots of space. There were beach chairs, towels, and an umbrella--things you would otherwise have to rent.

I only wish he had snorkel equipment there as it's very close to the Malmok beach area (Boca Catalina)--where all the snorkel tours go. It's beautiful and like a swimming pool in the crystal clear ocean. Though smaller, it was easily our favorite beach of the island.

One thing we found was that highway 1 was generally faster and less confusing than highway 2. It's a prettier drive and you can follow the beach most of the way to downtown.

The north side of the island was definitely the better side. The north shore was also beautiful, though rocky and a lot of desert. We would recommend La Trattoria (italian restaurant at the lighthouse). It's the only restaurant in that area and sits high so you have a panoramic view of the island.

Remember that the island is hot. We much preferred the beach and water activities (learning to sail a hobie cat, snorkeling, parasailing) over any other activity (ATV, horseback, biking, jeep tours, etc.) because it was so hot and dusty. And we wouldn't recommend a wave runner because the wind creates such large wakes in the ocean (tons of salt water in your face).

Had a great time and would recommend.

Left on 07/14/2012 for a stay in June 2012

The house was very nice--just as advertised. Clint met us at rental agency and we followed him to the house. That was wonderful. He was very thorough to show us all the amenities and to show us how to make everything work. Each bedroom had its own a/c. The rest of the house was not a/c. We left the house during the day because it was too hot. In the evening, opened the windows and it helped cool the living room/kitchen while I cooked dinner. We liked the location--in a neighborhood. Would highly recommend Rancho azul.

We had a great vacation in aruba! Rancho azul -- the property was perfect for our family of four. The nature preserve behind the property really added to the charm of the house. The inside was spotless and spacious but our favorite "room" was the backyard. Thanks Clint and Shakira! Looking forward to returning next year!

The hustle and bustle of Eagle and Palm beaches are a 5 minute drive, yet you feel as if you are all alone in this wonderful villa! The neighborhood is safe and secure! Overall great stay!

      This place is absolutely breathtaking!!!

We have just returned from our amazing trip to aruba. We've booked Rancho azul about 4 months ago, and could hardly wait. The villa exceeded our expectations...
As soon as we arrived in aruba and went to get our rental car, Clint, the owner, came to say hello and to take us to the villa. It was probably a 15 minute drive from the airport, and it's pretty much a drive on a main road, with a few turns at the end. As we arrived at the villa we were completely awed. It's much bigger in real life than the pictures suggested, very blue (on the outside), with such rugged beauty all around... Inside it's very clean, smells nice, all the windows open to a wonderful and very welcome breeze, and all bedrooms have air conditioning (we've only needed to use it at night). The kitchen is well equipped, including a dishwasher which made cleanups easier, we also loved the gas stove! The living room area is very comfortable, the beds are too. The washrooms are good size, and have hot water, which was practically not used by us, as the cooler water was a nice relief. The pool area is like taken from a movie. Cacti all around, a few palms, nice loungers with cushions, two good sitting areas and a dining table with chairs made us spend most of our time outside there (aside from traveling around the island!). The pool is clean and pool floats are provided. It's everything you need from a vacation rental. If you come with young children, keep in mind that there is no shallow area in the pool. It's probably about 4 feet at the "shallow" end, and about 5 or so at the deep end. There are a number of lizards "living" in the backyard, but they are very small, and afraid of people. In my opinion they are adorable, but if you're afraid of reptiles, they shouldn't really bother you much, as they won't come close to a human. The villa is also equipped with a laundry room (we found the washer very convenient, but we've dried our things outside on a drying rack provided), and a number of additional equipment, such as beach chairs, beach umbrella (mind you that with the aruban wind we didn't find much use for it), a crib (ask about a mattress, because I didn't pay attention to whether it was there), and coolers for food/drinks. There were also an iPod dock provided, a computer with Internet, as well as a free Wi-Fi connection for phones, laptops and iPads. Traveling with teens we found those extremely useful! We've also encountered some mosquitoes in the evenings (nothing like algonquin Park in Ontario, but itchy little buggers), so bringing some repellent is a good idea. We were told that neither mosquitoes nor any other bugs carry diseases in aruba, so no worries about that.
Overall, Rancho azul is an absolutely perfect place to spend your vacation in aruba. It's located in a beautiful wild area (you will see some horseback riding and occasional jeeps driving by in the back, but those only occur twice in a day), very close to the high rise hotels, restaurants, shopping and stunning beaches. Clint was very helpful and welcoming, as well as ready to answer any questions or concerns we might have had throughout our stay.

Big Thumbs up! for Rancho azul. I stayed there with two kids, aged 5 and 8, we all had a great time. Having the private yard and pool was the best.

The location made us feel like we lived on the island. Nice and remote, yet only 10 minutes to arashi Beach, or the Palm Beach casinos and hotels. It is tough to find at first, so Clint will meet you your first day at the airport. He is a very gracious host with a personal touch.

The pool does not have a shallow end, so you must keep an eye on younger children depending on their age and swim level.

      We will be back.

My husband and I stayed at Rancho azul from 10/6/11 to 10/13/11 and had a wonderful time. We have been vacationing in aruba every year for the past 10 years and this trip was one of the best. Staying at Rancho azul was a great experience because you felt like you had your own private resort. The home is large and very inviting. We spent most of our time outdoors. The space has everything you need, a pool, hammock, outdoor shower...and the view is amazing. The house is in a very private setting and you do need a car, but can get to anywhere you want to go very easily. Clint, the owner was very friendly and we hope to see him and Rancho azul again very soon.

Outstanding vacation rental. Very relaxing, great location about 5 minutes to Palm, Arashi and Malmok beaches and the sand dunes of the north shore. House had plenty of room and was furnished with everything you needed. We loved the privacy and the fact that the house backed to the nature preserve. We enjoyed watching the sunset and the afternoon skydivers. The pool area was fabulous, we will miss drinking our coffee while relaxing on the deck and in the pool. Clint, the owner, was awesome and very accomodating from the moment he met us at the airport Budget Rental Car. We would recommend Rancho azul to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation spot whether with or without children the house was great with a great location. Definitely rent a car, jeep or 4X4. Its very easy to drive around the island. We felt very at home at Rancho azul and we look forward to our future visit to Rancho azul and aruba. Thanks Clint!!!

      Ultimate paradise in aruba

Left on 11/16/2011 for a stay in November 2011

This rental was everything we wanted as it was like being in our own home away from home. It was clean and had all the amenities you needed as well as having your own private backyard with a pool you could use at any time of the day or night. We loved staying here as it was the ultimate in relaxation and privacy, but close enough to drive to anywhere you would like to go. At the back of the house was a road to either hike, bicycle, horseback ride, or take your 4x4 vehicle (make sure you have a 4x4) to explore the rugged side of the island. There are casinos, restaurants, etc within 5 minutes. drive from the house. All the people are happy and very helpful. Clint was always available if you needed any help with anything. We wish our stay had been longer, but we will be back hopefully next year to have another fun time in aruba. We did go to DePalm Island where we did the Sea Trek underwater helmet walk and that was such a blast, we would recommend that to do also. Some of the restaurants we would recommend are the Chalet Suisse, Buccaneer, and for a lunch Bingo restaurant & Bar as a very local place for fun and food. Don't go to the Bavaria German Restaurant as we thought the food was bland and wouldn't go back there again. Wacky Wahoo's was another place we wanted to go, but be prepared to wait in line. Will have to try and go there next time we are in aruba. All in all, we had the best time in aruba as this was probably our 6th or 7th time there. Can hardly wait to go back again. We will definitely recommend the Rancho azul to stay whether you are married, with children, retired or single. You will love this place and the owner, Clint. We love aruba.

Very quiet and peaceful area. Ocassional horse or jeep driving by in the back on the trail. 2 min drive at most to the high rise hotel disctrict. House inside was nicely furnished. Aruba was great, but Rancho azul was Superrr...

Left on 09/15/2011 for a stay in September 2011

Well, where to begin, I was with my wife and family (total of 5 persons) for 1 week on aruba. Through this site we came to know about Rancho azul and booked this as our stay on aruba. Before we had our trip we were truly impressed by the pictures of Rancho azul, but guys, when we arrived there we couldn't believe our eyes...the place is mezmerising! It's just like a fiction. The house is very beautiful and also it's surroundings. We just didn't want to go anywhere else once we we're at Rancho azul. It's quiet, cool, borders with the nature. Everything was so clean and neat. In short, this place can't be discribed in words, it's too beautiful. And Clint, our host, well... he's a cool guy. From the moment we met him at the airport he was supportive and very kind and friendly. Every time we needed him, he was there for us. He will be remembered not only as our host, but as our best friend from aruba. You will need a car to get around, but it isn't far from anything. With your rental car you can reach great restaurants and supermarkets in 3 minutes and the city in less then 10 minutes. A 4x4 is recommended, not to reach Rancho azul, but to explore the dirt and rocky offroads behind Rancho azul. Next time and the time after that and the one after that... when we are in aruba, Rancho azul will be definetely our stay on aruba.

To Clint, my friend, thanks for everything, keep up the good work and we hope to see you very soon...

Rancho azul was a great fit for us.

Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in July 2011

My husband and I just returned from spending a week at Rancho azul. This was our first trip to aruba and we were so pleased that we found this property and were able to book our vacation there. The owner, Clint, met us at the car rental office and was always immediately available for any questions. The house itself is very clean with comfortable and quiet sleeping areas and a full kitchen. The pool area was perfect! We loved hiking or driving to the northern shore behind the house in the morning then hitting the pool before heading to the beach. We also swam after returning from the beach and late at night while star gazing. The home is located at the end of a development and borders a protected natural area. There is a dirt road behind the property which a few jeeps and horses use, but all in all, the home was very private. The view behind the house is beautiful, and you only need to hike a short distance before you are able to view both shores.
Our favorite activities were renting a Jeep and touring the northern shore and the Natural Pool (very rough terrain but very cool), snorkeling the nearby beaches (Boca Catalina and Malmok were favorites), sailing/snorkeling on the Tranquilo, watching the sunsets on the shore by the lighthouse, having dinner at restaurants on the water, and eating pancakes at Lynda's Pancake House--to name a few...
It was a great week, and we would love to return to aruba and to Rancho azul someday.

Where to start?!?! This was the first time we have rented a house in aruba. We were a little hesitant about a private house rental. Clint, the owner, made this process very easy. He not only led us to the house but also waited while we filled up our car! Once we arrived at the house, we were so impressed with the property. It is a really nice place that has everything you'll need to have a nice day laying around at the pool or a fun day at the beach. I have never had such a relaxing vacation - it is so quiet and peaceful! The beds were comfy and the bedrooms stayed nice and cool. The house was so roomy with lots of space for everyone on the couches. We did not feel like we were running into each other all the time. Even the covered deck had big couches, a hammock, and a big table. The house was perfectly designed. Clint was very helpful in suggesting restaurants and answering all our questions. We are so glad we found this place!

Can't wait to get back to Rancho azul

Left on 05/04/2011 for a stay in March 2011

We had been to aruba once before and couldn't wait to get back. We wanted a different experience - a house, away from the hustle and bustle of hotels. We found Rancho azul via a web search of "Aruba house rental". There are a number of houses but Rancho azul seemed to fit our desires - multiple bedrooms, pool and "away from it all" environment. The pictures on the website are accurate. And the reality of Rancho azul is so much more than the pictures. Beautiful vistas, quiet, calm atmosphere, privacy yet not "shut off" from the world. The house is well kept, wonderfully laid out. While the house is tucked away its an easy drive to the beaches on the west side - Moomba Beach was great for relaxing, swimming. The bar & restaurant were great for lunch and dinner. Any of the small markets along the 2a/2B road were adequate for our food needs. Access to the rugged east side of the island is a snap. Its a nice walk to go straight east from house. There's a small rise about 200m east of the house. From the top you can see both horizons. We watched sunrises and sunsets from there. We took the camp chairs from the house, a cooler and made a party of it a few times. The house has what you need for a week or two of vacation - camp chairs, coolers, internet, cable, phone. We always felt safe at the house and on the island. The house has a security system as well as door/window locks. For transportation a 4WD is recommended. You can access some of the east shore without 4WD but there are some nasty spots. Julia, Martijn and Clint were always there to answer questions, assist with dinner reservations or recommendations, car rental and simple questions like - where can we buy fresh fish.
We stayed for two weeks - very happy that we did. We will return to aruba and Rancho azul. If you're the kind of traveler who's willing to explore, be responsible for yourself, relax with others in a quiet, small groups or by yourself - then Rancho azul is for you.

      Only the best vacation ever!

Left on 02/03/2011 for a stay in January 2011

The home is situated on the rugged north coast, but close to everything. The house is beautiful, the surroundings are beautiful, the people are beautiful. My brother and I had a wonderful time exploring all over aruba. The road behind the house leads right to the north shore with amazing views of the sunrise. The beach is a short drive away, but no so close there is traffic. Rent a jeep if you can afford it. You can go pretty much everywhere the locals go and don't be afraid to say hello. Aruba's motto on their car tag is "One Happy Island". Here's to hoping you arrive happy and leave even happier! Cheers to Julia and Martijn. They are so kind and next time I visit, I'm going to cook them a great dinner, Oklahoma style.

      could have stayed much longer

Left on 01/12/2011 for a stay in January 2011

My family was most fortunate to have found Rancho azul and Julia on the internet. Everything was as advertised, so clean and comfortable. We had some trouble with the airlines and our arrival was staggered as a result. Julia helped enormously when Thrifty did not honor our car rental reservations by helping us get a car elsewhere. That would have been a disaster as there are 6 of us and a car is necessary for seeing the island. Julia also arranged dinner reservations for New Years Eve at a fantastic restaurant on the water called Marandi. It was magical! The house is located on the edge of a beautiful park where we rode mountain bikes every morning. At our request Julia had the rental bikes arranged and delivered. It was so easy. Our first day riding we crested the first small hill and immediately got a breathtaking view of the unpopulated side of the island. The ocean was wild and so dramatic! The breeze was constant and kept it from being too hot to ride. Returning to the house we would have breakfast by the refreshing pool and plan our explorations for the day. The populated beaches near the high rise hotels, a massage at a low rise resort, the beautiful beaches towards the California lighthouse, snorkeling the southern beaches...We stayed around a week and loved every minute of it. Thank you Julia.

      great vacation

Left on 11/19/2010 for a stay in October 2010

Our stay here was wonderful. This 3 bedroom home is very spacious. It was great to be able to retreat to the peace and quietness of Rancho azul. Some days we hardly left the house. The pool area is beautiful and we felt in the middle of arubas nature. The owner is a pleasure to deal with and is very helpful. We would definitely recommend Rancho azul.

      Rancho azul is all that

Left on 10/08/2010 for a stay in September 2010

We just came back from an unforgettable stay at rancho azul, The house looked even better than promised in the pictures. Very clean and complete. We just couldn't get enough of the pool area and the patio where we felt like we were the only ones on the island. We can't wait to smell the BBQ going again while hanging by the pool. Although it didn't feel like it, still it took us only a few minutes driving to the tourist strip with many restaurants, stores and movie theaters. My kids had a wonderful time mountain biking and hiking in the area behind the house. It was definitely one of our best vacations ever and believe me, we will absolutely be back next year . Ayo :-)
