The Seahorse Guest Cottage is located in North Beach, Maryland, on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, within an hour’s drive of Washington, Baltimore, and Annapolis. The fully furnished cottage has a living room with sofabed, bedroom with queen size bed, sunporch with day bed, a full kitchen, and a backyard deck with grill. The Seahorse Guest Cottage has been totally renovated for 2011, and restored with a sense of history and a touch of whimsy. The cottage sits on a quiet street within walking distance to the Chesapeake Bay and the North Beach town boardwalk, beach and pier. Additionally located within easy walking distance are se...veral restaurants and quaint shops. A marina with boat launch, a waterpark, and a shopping center are within one mile of the cottage. There are close-by opportunities for charter fishing, kayaking, hiking, fossil hunting, bicycling, and bird watching. A weekday commuter bus provides service into Washington, and a seasonal trolley bus runs through town from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend (rides are 25 cents). The Seahorse Guest Cottage has a fully fenced yard and is dog-friendly. Also all registered guests are entitled to free passes to the Town Beach and Fishing Pier. The cottage is an ideal and inspirational place for artists, musicians, and writers, with a separate north light studio located behind the cottage. And yes, the Ice Cream Man still drives by almost every day!

The town of North Beach is an incorporated community of about 1800 residents. Originally platted in 1900, it was once referred as “Washington’s Salt Water Resort,” and was accessible to Washington, D.C. by railroad and streetcar.   Our family had a great stay at the Seahorse Cottage. It was just what we wanted -- a place to be together, yet with spaces aplenty for quiet reading and relaxing when we each needed our down-time. The kitchen was fine with all we required to cook easily for a few days. The furnishings were just right for a family with middle- and high-school aged boys: liveable and sturdy. And the whole place had the quirky charm of a refurbished 1920s beach-town bungalow; not a picture-perfect-don't-touch-the-antiques atmosphere (thank heaven). It was easy to get to the bakery and shops, the beach, etc. from the cottage. And having the owners next door was handy for questions and advice -- they were accessible, but not the least bit intrusive. The beach was great too. Not very crowded, even in mid June.

  Everything we needed and more

  We came to North Beach to visit Washington DC but still have a "beach" vacation- perfect location. We really enjoyed our stay in the Seahorse Guest Cottage. We have been to Cape Cod numerous times and have found that the rental properties there tend to be "owner centric"- we are just visitors in someone else's space (if you have been there you know what I mean). But here, we were made to feel at home. The house was in good condition and had plenty of space for the four of us. The master bedroom bed was very comfortable with good linens and pillows. Best of all, the owner had all of the "stuff" that you need but most places don't have- soap, salt and pepper, dishwasher and laundry detergent- terrific! The yard was lovely and relaxing- a beautiful driftwood hippocampus greats you on arrival. We even had an edible garden and feasted on fresh tomato and basil sandwiches for lunch! The property is not on the water but is an easy walk to the boardwalk/pier and town beach ( admission is included in your rental). The owner is an artist and this shows in the interior- recently renovated (heavy on the Ikea) with really cool touches. Great cottage and a terrific price- highly recommended.

  We had a very nice stay at Seahorse cottage. It was on a quiet street, but only a short walk to the boardwalk. The owners are wonderful to talk to. We hope to go back next year for our anniversary.
