North Captiva is a beautiful place to visit! What a blessing! The island was a perfect balance:great shelling, fishing, the Club and restaurants, The employees and residents of the island are happy, and very pleasant to be around, and the quiet atmosphere will keep us coming back if possible. My parents joined us for a couple days and my kids, wife, and myself seem to become closer as a family.
The house was a bummer - somebody's hair was left in both my bed and the spare bed, the teflon is coming off the pans which is unhealthy, the front door is rusting away, the sliding door upstairs is no handle so it is tough to open and lock, The Tv's in the masters and spare don't function correctly mostly because of the DirectTV recievers and remotes are old and difficult to reprogram all the time, and it seems that there is other properties on the island priced the same but look nice and more square feet. I took alot of abuse from my mother, wife, and oldest daughter about the selection of the home but for me I would even stay there again because the beauty of the island is worth it(for me). I have lived in worse conditions in my life but for those whom are spoiled it is a problem.

This home, which we have stayed in now four times, is in desperate need of care. Broken screen doors, old beds with old nasty sheets, leaky roof onto screened porch with no way to remove the water, tv remotes didn't work, squeaky doors, light bulbs out, few glasses, dangerously eroded cooking pans and pots, and a weber grill that the owners and rental company should be embarrassed to even advertise as included. Very disappointed this time and will likely not return to this home.
Love the island but will select a different house next time.

We love, love, love North Captiva and have been coming yearly for about 5 years. This is my least favorite house. The location was pretty good and we did really enjoy the screened in pool. We wanted a house with a porch area where we could eat breakfast and dinner. This house was billed as having that, but unfortunately the house's porch is totally unusable as it stands under 3-4 inches of water. It logically rained daily and the roof leaks horribly on the porch and thus the porch is like a second pool. You could tell they are aware this is the case because there was a large spongy broom thing..but there was so much water this was not a realistic method to clean it up. The concrete would get really really slick so I could not let my kids out there as the 1 year old slipped and whacked his head while jumping through puddles. The dishwasher also didn't work but I tinkered with it and got it going. As I said we love the island will clearly be back next year we just plan to stay at another house. We would stay at this house again if the leaky roof was fixed so the porch was usable.
I was nice.

Pool was to cold. There is always an Ice supply problem on NC. Get an ice machine on the Island, make this go away. You could put a small deep freezer in each unit.

The title says it all. The location was Paridise. The house had a great pool with a screened in porch, which was great for when the kids didn't want to make the short trip to the beach. Sunsets over the ocean seen from the rooftop with my love will always be remembered.
Totally on Island Time
Feels like the Carribean, but with the ease of traveling in U.S.

Very relaxing trip. We loved traveling around by golf cart or bicycle. Rented a boat for a couple of days and island hopped. Never ate at the white table cloth restaurant, closed for a wedding on the evening we planned to eat there. Pool bar food was good and reasonably priced. House had running toilet in MBR (even after repair); dead red ants on floor; stale odor on upper floor, if house was closed, so we kept windows open and it was marvelous. Never received modem, although requested one two different times. We cooked or grilled almost every evening. Used Sandie's grocery service--very pricey, but worth not having to shop on vacation. You might get tired of eating at the same place all the time, if you don't like to cook. We would stay on North Captiva again.
