Minneapolis, MNbeautiful home & location, warm pool, saggy beds
Left on 04/06/2013 for a stay in March 2013
The home is absolutely lovely, well maintained and the owners heat the pool. The home is large so everyone can spread out, yet gather for dinner. And the owners keep the pool heated and hot tub well maintained - thank you. Our only concern were the saggy beds in owner's suite and large bedroom on 3rd floor. People who slept in those beds had sore backs, and my husband and 21 yr old daughter finally slept on the bunk beds which were firmer. This was kind of a big deal. My husband could hardly walk and took pain killers after sleeping on the saggy mattress for 3 nights - Then slept on bunk beds in search of a firm mattress.

Hutchinson, MNrelaxing, quiet yet fun and exciting for family vacation
Left on 03/27/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Family of six (active kids ages 13,11,9 & 7). House is beautiful inside (a little wear from renting). The view from living/dining & rooftop is great. Outdoor furniture is weathered. You are like 50 yards from quiet beach. Beach is very nice sand, lots of shells. Watched a dolphin swim about 20 yards from shore.
Sunsets were amazing! The pool and spa at house are great. We had trouble with temp on both. First 2 days ice cold. Next 3 pool warm like a bath! When warm the kids would play for hours. There are lots of board games the kids played every morning & night.
The Nciclub was great too and pretty quiet. Too big pools close together. Never had problem getting chairs to lounge. Mangos was great place to grab a bite pool side - Charleigh's Catch (grouper sandwich) or Fish Taco (large pieces of grouper). Pizza was good too. Boat House restaurant is small, intimate dining and food was great (even though no kids menu they do make kids meals like spagetti, baked chicken strips).
Around the island, we went to Barnicles alot for ice cream by the scoop! Very good. Good food too: Nautical Mile was great (scallops, shrimp and grouper). Fun to eat near the water.
No cars and really cool just cruising around sand paths on golf carts. All the homes are beautiful with lots of privacy. We took kyaks out and was fun to explore.
We also hiked through the State preserve on Island. The kids pretended we were on a jungle safari and took backpacks.
We stayed for a week. We were a little nervous there wouldn't be enough to do, but we were never bored and kids didn't want to leave! Weather was 80 a couple days, 70-73 for 3 & 68 a couple more. For Minneasotans that was just warm enough to enjoy the ocean and pools!
Use Ncic's Express Checkin and have Sandie's do groceries. Just show up and relax! Probably saves like a whole day shopping in an unfamiliar store, carrying it to car then to Ncic mainland office, then Ncic house and unpacking.

Atlanta GAFantastic family trip to beautiful North Captiva
Left on 07/13/2012 for a stay in July 2012
North Captiva is a more rustic alternative to the crowded beached on Florida's sunny gulf coast. Rustic in that the island is only accessable by ferry and there are no cars (only golf carts) permitted on the island. The modern houses are on sandy streets and most are a very short walk to the beautifil beaches. We rented a house that (#169 Key Lime Time) that was less than 100ft from the restricted beach access and had beautiful ocean views from the kitchen and living areas and the rooftop deck. The pool at the house was nice and both the club pools, next to the club bar, were very nice as well. We enjoyed the clay tennis courts every day, and I kayaked every morning for at least an hour and saw Manatees, Fish Hawks, Stingrays and other amazing wildlife on every trip out. All the club amenities are free. We also rented wavre runners one day and spent the rest of our time on the beach.
Getting to and from the island is easy and the club will arrange your grocery delivery for you (for a fee) but we organized our groceries oursevles and the porters delviered them to our house for us to put away. Since there were 10 of us this was the more economical choice for our group.
This is a quiet place with little more no nightlife and only basic restraunts on the island...but don't let that keep you away. -

Arvada, ColoradoWonderful family gathering at Key Lime Time
Left on 07/12/2012 for a stay in June 2012
First of all, thank you to Sara Rapp who did a superb job providing information and being available for questions. The staff at North Captiva Island Club did a great job loading our stuff on the ferry and delivering it to key Lime Time. North Captiva Island was an ideal location for our family gathering. Adults, teenagers, and kids all had a great time. We all loved the beach (almost private there were so few people), the pools, shelling, and exploring the island. Key Lime Time is a lovely clean home and worked out well for our group of 11. The house was a just a short walk to the beach and the roof deck was great for viewing sunsets. Having a private pool was yet another glorious choice when deciding what to do next. Key Lime Time has a huge dining room table that allowed for all of us to eat dinner together. I only had two concerns about the house, the mattresses need replacing. Also, we were there during Tropical Storm Debby, and there were no emergency candles or flashlights in the house in case of a power loss. We ate dinner at the Boat House one night and "hats off" to the chef, the food was supberb!
I can only hope our family will return to North Captiva Iland again. It was this grandma's "Dream come True".

Wheaton, ILGreat spot for a relaxing beach vacation
Left on 06/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Great location-close to the beach with Gulf views from main living areas. Stylishly decorated and very easy to make yourself at home. Bedrooms and baths are on the small size and, consequently, not all bedrooms have dressers or some viable clothing storage option. Also, baths could really use more than one small towel rack. My last suggestion would be regarding the kitchen. It is a home advertised for 10 people but there aren't enough eating utensils and larger cooking and serving pieces to accomodate meals for 10.
The Ncic employees that transported us to and from the island were very accomodating, polite and friendly. I especially compliment Kelly-hard working, good service and a friendly smile at all times. -

North Captiva Island Club is great! On the ferry ride to the island we saw dolphins and the captain took his time circling around so we could take pictures of them. Once on the island the staff treated us very well. Our house was a short walk to the beach. The house had a great layout with plenty of room for everyone. Our pool was private and the right size with a nice hot tub. I didn't like climbing all the steps but a small price to pay for the awesome views. We would love to visit again. We were on the island for my son's wedding, maybe we can come back for their anniversay. Thanks North Captiva!!!

Carmel, INBeautiful Home, Great Destination
Left on 12/04/2011 for a stay in November 2011
This home is a beautiful choice if you are planning a North Captiva stay. It has a great layout for multiple families staying together. There are 3 levels with lots of opportunities for privacy or visiting, depending on what you feel like at the moment. I would highly recommend this property.
The decor in this home is absolutely gorgeous- the person who chose the furnishings, window treatments and trimmings has perfect taste in my opinion. There are lots of nice pictures throughout the home, and the color schemes are fantastic. It is both beautiful and comfortable.
The pool area is really lovely with a nice deck surrounding it. The pool has a hot tub connected to it, which we enjoyed as well. What I disliked about it was that in November, the pool was in the shade for a lot of the day as the sun isn't as high in the sky as it would be another time of year. But no problem, a gorgeous stretch of beach is very close by. Also, the pool chairs aren't comfortable, which doesn't sound like a big deal until you try to relax in one. They are good looking, but they aren't very functional.
The kitchen is lovely. As other guests have stated, its not terribly well stocked. It is a crime to see that guests have totally destroyed most of the pots & pans by using metal tools in non-stick items causing teflon to flake off and making them unusable. We had some trouble cooking due to this fact. The owners have stocked the kitchen with appropriate plastic utensils, but people seem to have disregarded this. I would not plan on using the pool area kitchen as a kitchen- there's basically just a counter/shelf area with a little refrigerator.
When we had a slight issue with the refrigerator, there was a guy there in 5 minutes. The service was excellent.
We had a bit of golf cart trouble, but our cart was quickly replaced with no problem. And tvs were all in working order, but we had to ask for some remote batteries to use a couple of them. The video game stuff didn't appear to be working at all even though we tried. The grill works but the grill starter didn't work, so we had to go get some matches.
Finally, I would say that this property is definitely a keeper and I would highly recommend it, especially for larger groups.
This was our second trip to the island. We felt like there were many nice improvements to the island in general. The staff was a gazillion times nicer than when we went 7 years ago. Back then, we sort of felt like they had an attitude like they were doing us a huge favor to accomodate any requests. Now, they are just super friendly & helpful. We'll definitely be back. -

Our stay on North Captiva was very relaxing. I loved that there were no vehicles on the island and one could walk everywhere!!! The beaches were clean and we spent a lot of time just wondering the beach.
My only grip is that the house golf cart had an old battery causing the cart to move slow and couldn't travel very far before recharging.
There was also very little kitchen towels or cooking supplies(they did bring us a new cookware set, but only one kitchen towel and no spatulas/wood spoons etc). -
We love North Captiva
Philadelphia suburbsGreat vacation
Left on 09/07/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We loved our trip to North Captiva. This was our fourth consecutive year, and Key Lime Time was the nicest (and most expensive) house we have stayed in. We loved the location with private beach access. The pool and outside kitchen were very nice, as were the common spaces, bathrooms, and bedrooms. We appreciated the reliable wireless internet connection. (Several of our past houses claimed to have DSL but the modem and/or router was either broken or the password was not provided.) Our only complaints were as follows:
1) Kitchen was poorly stocked. Not enough silverware or sharp knives. We had 2 families, with 4 children under age 10. There were about 8 gigantic spoons, and only 2 teaspoons that were small enough for the kids to use. We were unable to locate a cutting board for chopping vegetables. We had to use a plate so that we wouldn't scratch the beautiful granite countertops.
2) Neither the kitchen fridge nor the pool fridge kept our food at the correct temperature. The food on the top two shelves of the kitchen fridge froze regardless of the temperature setting we tried. The pool fridge was completely frozen over when we arrived. It took a day to defrost it and get it to the proper temperature. However later in the week we discovered that the food we stored in it was all spoiled because the temperature had not been maintained.
3) We could not get the TVs in the queen bedroom or the blue bunk bedroom to work. We had no trouble with the other TVs, so we do not believe it was operator error. The TV in the blue bedroom didn't even power on, despite checking all the power cords. -

We had an amazing time on N Captiva! There was a group of 10 of us there and every last on of us loved the island and Ley Lime Time. I loved the fact that there were no cars on the island. It was truly a secluded getaway. The sunsets were gorgeous, and the beaches were beautiful. My only complaint is that after we arrived, one of the tv's wasn't working and there was no wi fi. I went to the office to see if we could get that fixed, and they said they'd have someone come to the house to fix it. No one showed up and the tv never got fixed (we figured out the wi fi ourselves). Aside from that, it was a great vacation!

I want to give Tim credit for the outstanding service and friendliness at all times while we hung at the bar, we were disappointed that the bar closed around 1am on Thursday the 12th. We were told the manager wanted it closed down but we were under the impression from others there on the island and Tim earlier it didn't close til people left. The manager, sorry I don't know her name, was the same person who was making pizza on Wednesday night and she was plain rude. I know she might get the same questions all the time about the pizza but there is no reason, especially on North Captiva Island to be rude. This is suppose to be a happy go lucky island and the staff except for her were very willing to answer questions and be exceptionally nice but we had 3 times we saw her and everytime was not a good experience. I believe she is not in the right kind of work. Our home had some minor issues while we were there but again all the staff was super responsive and came to our rescue. We would definitely visit again all though, all 10 of us, would hope to not have to deal with the manager that made pizza on Wednesday night.

This was our 8th year at Ncic and we have stayed in 4 different houses over the course of that timeframe. Key Lime Time is one of the 5-star,most expensive, very large homes on the island but it is not set up well for large groups, particularly in the kitchen. There are no beach towels and no indication anyhwere that guests need ot bring their own. There were also very few bath towels to compensate. The pots/pans were limited in number and small - no large corn pot etc. Also - the MBR Queen and King beds were soft (perhaps even broken) and defintiely need to be upgraded. We did receive excellent service from resort staff - even better than in years past and appreciated the new kayaks. The bathrooms at the club pool are indesperate need of imrovement - lots of rust showing and outdated. Also - there was a very clear sign at the access to schooner Beach that Key Lime tenants were not allowed to access the beach there which was not very welcoming...
