We had 13 in our party and the house worked very well. The pool/spa was great, very clean house, and great location. The only recommendations I have would be to include a small broom to help clean up kitchen a little and the kitchen was short on a few essentials to cook for such a large group. There was not much silverware and cooking pans were limited. Many lightbulbs were burnt out in the upstairs living area. We had trouble getting decent bikes from the club but they did get a few new ones in during our stay. I would still return to this house because it is set up well for large groups.

We had an absolute wonderful time and the unit is located perfectly on the island and beautiful decor. I would only suggest you ask maitenance to check the lighbulbs and remote batteries as we had nearly 1/2 of the light bulbs (and thier are dozens of switches) out, and over 2/3rd of the remotes for (and again many) did not function. Almost rented another unit, happy we rented this one!
By the way, put some brooms and dustpans in this hourse, we would have liked to do some light cleaning while there and they have no cleaning tools! Some of us do like to clean up after ourselves. -

We have stayed in this home 4 times over the years. It has everything you need. Furnishings are first class, game room for the kids, great view of the Sound and the perfect location in our opinion. Our family does alot of fishing. This is only of the only interior Island homes that has a private, protected dock right at the house. No need to mess with having your supplies hauled over by Ncic. Your dock is literally right at the house. Fish cleaning tables, water, electricity, and docak lights right there. Pool and Spa are top notch. Perfect house in our opinion for our family reunion's.

This is a great house in a great location. Very well constructed with nice funishings. However, the attention to detail by management or house keeping or both put a sour taste in my mouth for the price paid for the week. Based on my past experiences at North Captiva rental homes were always emaculate and free from propblems. However, such details as a "spare" microwave setting on the counter due to the installed unit being out of service, numerous burned out light bulbs (the main office was told of these early in our stay and were never fixed) the hot tub work interminttent at best and garbage not picked up around the outside of the pool area. I'm not a overly picker renter, just give me what I paid for and it's the details that keep me coming back.

Thanks for your review. Tropical storms over the past few weeks caused a lot of island power outages along with high winds and flood waters did not help. Staff was behind and did the best they could. We hope you return soon! Thanks for coming.

Memphis, TNFantastic Home on a Fantasy Island!
Left on 05/25/2012 for a stay in March 2012
It's hard to describe the experience we had on North Captiva this past March, 2012. This was our first visit, but is unlikely to be our last. "Solitude" was a beautiful home with plenty of space for the 6 of us. The living space upstairs provided terrific views, including a nice view of the sunrise each morning (provided you are awake for it.) The osprey nest across the way provided some nice entertainment.
We rented a boat from "Boats and Fun", so we took full advantage of the waterfront location and private dock for the week. We went fishing, took excursion trips to Captiva, and enjoyed the Cayo Costa state park as well. One golf cart was not enough for our party, so we rented a second from "Bob's Island adventures". The service was great, and both carts were perfect for our trips around the island.
We did have a couple of minor issues with the electronic pool/spa controls and a number of light bulbs that needed to be replaced in the home. However, all in all we give "Solitude" and North Captiva two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

We had an excelletnstay in a lovely home. We have been coming to No Cap for 8 consecutive years and will continue to do so. The house is lovely and spacious and we were 2 families who had plenty of space. The only issues we had were:
1. there were many light bulbs that were burned out and no replacements could be found
2. While the kitchen is well stocked with terrific bowls, dishes, glassware etc., the pots and other cookware in the kitchen all need to be replaced - many were burned or rusted on the inside. -

The weather was perfect for our three week stay. "Solitude" sits in a perfect location overlooking the harbor area, and yet is located on a canal suitable for any craft which can enter the harbor area. The house was designed to accommodate nearly every weather condition with porches to the west, south, and east. The views of the harbor is outstanding, and the outdoor pool/spa was the best we have experienced on N.Captiva. We used both every day of our visit. The main living area on the top floor is comfortable and very upscale, as is the kitchen. We have been coming to the island since the late 90s, and this January was the best. In large part the level of service from Ncic personnel provided an extra measure of comfort to make for a wonderful stay.

This was our first stay and we spent 10 days on the Island over the winter holiday season. I have zero complaints and found the entire experience to be very well thought through. This included Pine Island Taxi, Publix pickup, Water Ferry, North Captiva Island Club staff, and most importantly the House, Solitude.
The house was very well laid out and we enjoyed hanging out and watching the scenery. We also rented a boat from Boats and Fun and again this was a great experience.
We look forward to future stays. -

Charleston, West VirginiaSpectacular house!
Left on 11/30/2011 for a stay in November 2011
We stayed in 'Solitude' over Thanksgiving week and could not have asked for a more beautiful house. The location was perfect, and the many decks and porches gave us lots of choices to enjoy the weather. The house looks over the wharf and was an easy walk to the restaurants and the airstrip to watch the sunset, and a short drive to the beach. Our daughter enjoyed fishing off the dock, and we loved watching the many different birds - osprey, herons, egrets, etc.
For those who have never been to North Captiva island -- it is a truly beautiful place. It is a small island with wonderfully friendly people, a long, unspoiled beach with gorgeous shells and bird life, and a feeling of total relaxation from the moment you step off the boat. It is not, however, for those who want a busy vacation with tee times, manicured lawns, turn down service, spas, pampering and night life. Barefoot is the way to go here; if you want to see and be seen, this is not the place for you. There are pools, boat and jet-ski rentals, tennis courts and a handful of restaurants (make reservations!) but that's it! My whole family considers this island a real treat - we've been here when our kids were very young, and now in their teens and 20's. We love to spend our days here reading and eating meals on the deck, walking on the beach to look for shells and watch for dolphins, going to the pool, driving to the airstrip in the evening to watch the sunset and playing a game or watching a movie in the evening. This is an absolute paradise -- just make sure it's the kind of vacation you're looking for! We can't wait to go back!

My husband & I had such a great time...this place was so much fun and having a golf cart as "your ride" was the best! We watched the sun rise every morning...from the west coast! It was amazing! We will be going back there sooner than later and the great thing about that is there are so many different houses you can choose from but I don't think many of them can top "solitude" which I picked because of the name! If you just want to get away and have no worries...this is the place to go!

Our family and friends were at North Captiva for my
son's wedding on the beach. We had such a wonderful time
I can't believe how much fun it was.
We would all like to return when there isn't a wedding so
we can just enjoy the house, its pool, tour more, get a bike, and
maybe get a kayak.
Loved the week-end!
I forgot to schedule a pick-up for our things so I did it Sunday
morning and they still were there quickly to get our stuff.
Thank You loved it!!

We all loved the house, all 10 of us. Accommodations were comfortable and new. The only place they skimped was the master bedroom mattress. Hope they can change that to something less spongy. But otherwise, the place had no faults. Great location. Pool was enjoyed tremendously, the canal with our rented boat gave us great fishing opportunities. The kitchen was well outfitted, and the eating area spacious with great views. We cooked in for all meals. We love North Captiva and this has been our best stay yet. Wildlife views from the house would thrill any nature lover. Osprey, anhingas, great white egrets and even a manatee. Heaven.
