The house needs a little work on the upstairs deck but the inside is perfectly decorated like a bungalow at the edge of paradise. Even though the Ncic has older facilities, it creates a vibe of complete relaxation and the staff are all amazingly kind and accommodating! Read more

This has to be the best place to stay on North Captiva! It's right on the Beach's Edge (just like the name). This was a Mother/Daughter birthday week and it was a dream come true. We both live and own a business on Sanibel so you can imagine how picky we might be at finding that special place, but this little jewel was perfect. I only wish that the second bedroom had a queen or King bed instead of bunk beds. The island itself is easy to get around, the staff on the island are always ready to help out in any way they can. We felt safe, happy, lucky, and special all at the same time. Who needs to go far on their vacation when you have this place just a boat's ride away. Read more

Beach's Edge has the best view on the entire island.
If you want seclusion, have a very busy, never alone with your family life this place and this home is for you.
If you are materialistic and do not enjoy "simple" or cannot think outside the box, then this house is not for you.
I read the reviews on this home after we were there, one day while staring at the gorgeous ocean view :) ahhh (cannot wait to go back by the way) and some of the reviews were not so great. I had to show my husband b/c we had and were and did have an absolute blast on N.Captiva and at Beach's Edge. Yes it does need some work done to it but that's not why we chose to stay in this home and we will pick this home every year we go back. All of the other (and there are a lot) wonderful things about North Captiva make this place such a gem. I would not say shame on Ncic for listing this house I would say bravo. They know what they are doing. We come from a very touristy area and there are tons of properties that are managed and Ncic is amazing. From the time you book, your arrival on the island, the entire time you are there, they are all amazing. Every person we came in contact with was so friendly and down to earth. We have been searching for a place like this for so long, thank you Curtis for recommending this paradise. We are already working on booking next year.
Staying at Beach's Edge: Loved being able to wake up every morning and walk 50 steps to the beach, picking up seashells everywhere, having the entire beach to ourselves, coconuts everywhere, watching the dolphins, petting the manatees, everything. Thank you for having us! Read more

In N. Captiva it's hard to believe you aren't much further away than the Florida coast. A short ferry ride takes you to an exotic location. Our late Oct. trip resulted in great weather, few people and water warm enough to still swim. The house location was only 50 ft. from the water with incredible views and great sunsets. The house, itself, was well used, to the point of shabby, nothing essential broken, but very well used. The location made all the difference. Read more

The house is in the perfect location for enjoying the beach. We were only there for one night due to the old and dilapidated air conditioning unit. It was over 80 degrees in the house during the evening and even hotter during the day. We had to eat dinner in the bedroom with the bunk beds because it was so unbearable after cooking dinner. I tried opening the master bedroom sliding door for some cool air and it came off track...very heavy...2 other adults had to help me get it back on. I also rolled out the window in the kitchen and it then wouldn't shut. The owner has really ignored the issues this unit is having. For what they are charging to rent per week they need to reinvest to make this unit what it used to be. A beautiful home on the beach. The resort is top notch and upgraded us to another house on the beach that we spent the remainder of our vacation in. North Captiva Island Resort goes above and beyond to ensure their guests are taken care of.

The house, the location, the views, the entire setting were exactly that what we expected. The entire organization from booking to check in and out were perfectly orchestrated. We loved our stay and and will be back for sure in that beautiful house - the perfect get away, peaceful, beautiful, and divine.
Can't beat the location but house needs work

The very good in this review is based solely on location. It is right on the beach with spectacular views from every room and two large decks. The furniture throughout the house is dated but the beds were comfortable.
The water is undrinkable due to the high sulfur content. Lucky for us, a local fishing guide told us so we brought several cases of drinking water. Do not use the washing machine for your clothes as we had several items ruined with yellow sulfur stains. Other houses on the island have water systems to remedy this problem.
The last issue is that the house had rodents. After the first incident, we never left food out on the counter again and didn't have any more troubles. I told the management upon check out so hopefully it was addressed. I also told them about the laundry. For each problem, there was no apology offered.

We rented Beach's Edge in the early 90's. We had a memorable time. Came back a second time in Feb. 2013. House has definite maintenance issues. Furniture is worn and stained. There are no screens for sliding doors (can't open up to the outdoors in the evening). Bathroom shower control is stiff and corroded . There are no wine glasses and are mismatched plastic plates. Outdoor furniture is old and worn. Captiva Island Club was very good. All arrangements were run perfectly. Water taxi and taxi from airport were very good. We used Sandy's grocery service. Excellent!

North Captiva Island is amazing and if you want a small, cozy rental that is right on the beach, this is the house for you. It is not fancy and needs a bit of TLC, but you rent this house for the location, not the amentities. It is one of the few rentals that is still right on the beach. It is not a rentable 3 BR, 2 Ba and that should be updated. The lower level is not habitable. It is really a 2 BD, 1 Ba. The views are amazing and the remoteness is great. If you want a fancy house with lots of perks, this is not it. If you want an adequate rental but a great location and a really relaxing place...this is it. North Captiva Island Club was also great tow work with and Sandi's grocery delivery was the best. The sea shells and wildlife are unbelievable. We enjoyed it and are going back next year!

Relaxing Gulf Getaway
Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in October 2012 | Sandy
Beach's Edge definitely describes this wonderful island paradise home. Looking over the railing of the deck you can see the stingrays hovering in the water. The shore was lined with birds of all sizes and an osprey perched on the railing looking for fish. The high tide comes within a few feet of the house. It is absolutely awesome! The reason I chose this house was because it was on the water. I was not disappointed. Whether I was looking at the sunset, the way the gulf looks when the sun comes up or the millions of stars, it was heaven. We had the beach to ourselves every day. It was nice that beach chairs, umbrella, kayak, bikes and golf cart were provided by beach club.
The kitchen was really cute, the furniture was dated and the third bedroom/bath downstairs was not connected to the upstairs. That worked out for us with an adult couple using it, but with children, it might be a problem. I sure wish there was a screened porch or screens on the sliders so you could leave them open, but the bugs were too bad without screens.
The service by the North Captiva Island Club was pretty nice. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help, from the check in center to the baggage handler, to the cook. We ate at the pool bar and the drinks and food were very good.
As long as you don't mind the dated cottage it is absolutely "heaven on earth"! Enjoy!

House not ready upon arrival.Had to do housekeeping laundry upon arrival.Shower broken upon arrival.Breaker constantly flipping all day every day which meant no golf cart charge ever and no running water unless we flipped it constantly. We finally realized that we must go ask for new golf cart every day.Decking bordering on unsafe. Furnishings lacking and unclean, except bedrooms.Ants out of control. No indication that there is no inside access to downstairs.Web site ineffective and unreliable.Customer service not proactive.Captain Tom was the one bright spot.I expected clean, organized and accessible (I understand rain happens, but shouldn't you have the roads built up for drainage to prevent lakes where the road should be?), but that is not the impression I left with.

My husband and I stayed on North Captiva for our honeymoon and just came back for our 5th anniversary. This home was in a perfect location. We saw the sunset every night and dolphins everyday! We had four adults and the house fit us very comfortably. Will come back again and again!
A little paradise

North Captiva Island is truly a little Utopia. If you want peace, quiet and none of the tourist crowds of the more popular beaches this should be your destination. If you plan to be self-sufficient and are not looking for any "extras amenities" you won't be disappointed, though the club itself does provide 2 beautiful pools and 2 very nice "Har-Tru" tennis courts that we used daily. The house was admittedly a bit dated and would not be considered luxurious as some other properties on the island may be, but it's exactly what we were looking for. A cozy and comfortable place that we could relax and literally look down from the deck directly into the surf. You cannot find a closer "beachfront" house than this... Sitting directly on the beach, it's pretty amazing. For a vacation experience that may only be matched on some of the Caribbean islands, I highly recommend North Captiva.

This was an unbelievable place to have our Honeymoon. It's like living on the beach! It was so relaxing and fun. I was even able to rent a fishing pole to do a little fishing. The house had a TV, an iPhone speaker system, and wireless internet (the internet key is under the router). It had everything I needed to cook great meals. It has a charcoal grill too. I highly recommend this house.
Cottage living on the beach

Great location on the beach. Probably none better on the island. The house furnishings could be updated. The tv larger in the living room. Overall the house was just a part of the total experience of the island itself. Quiet is the only word that describes the full experience. Most exciting part of our day was driving the golf cart across the island to get ice cream. The two fine dining restaurants served great meals and we loved that fact that they only seated about 20 people. This allowed the patrons to get to know the friendly chefs and wait staff. The Club personnel were friendly and knowledgeable and served us well. And then there were the sunsets. What a nice way to end the day.
2nd Closest to the water
Left on 02/02/2012 for a stay in January 2012 | Amber Bradley
This is probably the 2nd closest house to the gulf side beach. It was so wonderful waking up every morning and taking just a flight of stairs down to walk along the beach. Dolphins were swimming about 30 yards almost every evening. The sunsets were mezmerizing. My husband and our 2 toddlers were fishing and caught fish including 3 sharks!! Awesome! We came here to basically enjoy the beach but without the commotion and Ncic offers this to you! Also, the pool at the club was amazingly refreshing...they have a cooler one, a warmer one, and a hot tub! Mango's serves great food and service! Love the gulf car concept on the island! Totally worth every penny! Loved it! The thing I miss the most is falling asleep each night to sound of the waves right outside our bedroom window! Having laundry was also a plus. Remember to get enough groceries and take them with you on the ferry! It's the best way and you'll need the groceries. Who wouldn't want to cook when you have basically the best location on the island to enjoy your food from the window or balcony! All I really need to say is, if you're wondering if you should stay with Ncic and at Beach's Edge...Do it! You wont regret it!
Great Honeymoon Spot!

We stayed in Beach's Edge for our honeymoon. We loved the house, it had all the comforts we needed. We loved sleeping with the doors open listening to the waves and walking down the steps to sit on our own private beach.
The only two things that were negative about our stay was the smell of the water, it was pretty awful and we had to buy water at the general store even for brushing our teeth. The other thing is I wish they would fix the screens on the doors. Our weather was so beautiful and the breeze coming in off the gulf was awesome but the bugs made it challenging to keep the doors open. When we pay this much to stay right on the beach we want to experience the doors open. Fix those screens!
Relaxation on the beach - simplified

This house sold me on its location! It hangs over the beach. Best location on the island - quiet, private, quaint, and simple. We live local so it was a great house for friends to pull up and stay for the day. The double decks beach side offer multiple activities for everyone and still be included in all the action. Top deck -Lounging in the sun or eating lunch. Bottom deck - quick access to the water, easy grilling or fishing. We have two small children and found this house to be very kid friendly and safe. The home is simple. The view and the ocean noise is so peaceful. There is no other spot we'd rather be!

Everything was incredible. The spacious open floor plan was great. Loved the quality kitchen cookware, dishes and flatware, made meals easy. Nice large bedrooms, large open kitchen. Relaxing on the deck and watching the sunset. Being right on the beach was incredible. Nice to have beach toys in the storage area to use.

We truly enjoyed this peaceful and laid back island...our rental cottage was fine, incredible location, though the basement bedroom was lacking. It is exposed to quite a lot of water being close to the shore. As a result was very musty smelling (and a housed a cockroach, yikes) The shower and toilet needed repair. The lower level really shouldn't be rented out...That said, the outdoor shower, wonderful and the upstairs was nice and homey. The porch over loooking the beach made it all worth while. As a rental option, if limited to the two upstairs bedrooms, a very, very nice stay!
