My family had a very relaxing week at the Cinco De Mayo. The home is everything it was promised to be and more! Sarah was responsive to all of our questions and was very accommodating to make sure we had everything we needed for our little ones (baby gate, high chair, pack n play, etc.) We had plenty of room for two families during our stay. We had so much fun using the ping pong table and pool. The kitchen was well stocked with all necessary appliances/utensils and even had a crock pot. North Captiva is an amazing family vacation spot. We are so happy we found the Cinco De Mayo and hope to be back soon! Read more

Amazing Beach House and Relaxing Vacation

I highly recommend Cinco de Mayo! We were two families with 5 children between us and there was plenty of room in the house. It never felt crowded even if we were all in the kitchen/family room and the pool at the house was key (kids and adults loved this feature!!). The décor was impeccable and the house is in excellent condition. The kitchen is well stocked with multiple pans, pots, serving dishes and other kitchen accessories for cooking and serving. Views from the roof are perfect - you can see the ocean in every direction - and the location is very convenient to the N. Captiva Club. The beach is a bit further away than the club so we used the golf cart; golf cart was necessary and helpful for the beach and to reach Barnacle Phil's and the ice cream store. North Captiva is beautiful and provides a very special experience. The fact that there is so much nature and so much of the island is untouched and not commercial gives the vacationer a unique and relaxing experience. This trip is perfect for people who need to and want to relax and do very little. If you want "things to do" you might go a little stir crazy--they could ue more bikes, more accessible restaurants, affordable excursions and cleaner facilities at the club. Bikes were very big (our 6-8 year old boys were out of luck) and the one bike that worked for tots was never free. Barnacle Phil's was hidden - would be nice to have one more family friendly place restaurant (that's not Mangoes) with an ice cream store for kiddos. Excursions available from the island are prohibitively expensive. Might be nice to be able to book a boat to Sanibel or out to see Dolphins for a reasonable price. The facilities at the N. Captiva Club were a bit dirty -one day I would describe as filthy, so they should clean more frequently. Overall we loved our week at the island and especially at this lovely house, which I find hard to criticize! We were all relaxed and had fun -- and these were our number one goals. Read more

This was a great property and the owner, Sarah, was a delight! She was an intricate part of making this such a great experience! North Captiva is a great place to get away from the "rat race" of everyday life! The kids loved riding the golf carts around the island! I think that was their favorite part! Just be prepared as there are only 2 restaurants on the island, so come prepared with all your favorites to eat/drink! Read more

We have now taken srping bring on North Captiva 5 years in a row, each time at a different property. Cinco De Mayo ranks as the best. Very nice, well maintained home with comfortable features. Kitchen very well appointed with excellent cooking supplies including nice touch of many spices on hand. Great screened porch to relax or enjoy meals, nice variety of sleeping accomodations, close to resort facilities, spacious upper deck with views of both gulf and ocean side of island. On property pool is pretty tiny, but still nice to relax in, or let kids get some extra swim time. And...owner, Sarah, is engaged and attentive to the guest which is the first I have experienced that. Another unusual, nice touch. Ncic services always seem a bit marginal for such a nice island, but that has nothing to do with this property. Owner contact gives some additional contact if there are issues with the resort. House accommodated 10 comfortably. Everything we needed was provided. Pool needed to be cleaned when we arrived, but maintenance showed up the next day to get it done. Having the pool more than made up for not being right on the beach.
Club responded to our requests in a timely manner, and the sunsets were beautiful. Be sure to bring bug spray, the mosquitos are brutal.

We stay in the Cinco de Mayo house and it was gorgeous. Everything was son clean and equipped with all the necessary things. The only thing we would like to rise is the condition of the golf cart and the conditions of the club house (pool, tennis court, etc), you should do something to improve those.
What a hidden gem we discovered!

Sarah Rapp was so helpful in planning this trip and the results were perfect. Her home was very comfortable and nicely decorated, fully equipped, and was centrally located making it quite convenient to the beach, marina, bar and recreation area. We made use of the pool everyday and ate many meals on the fabulous screened in porch! The staff throughout the island were exceptional and quite entertaining, especially the bartenders. The serenity of the island was exactly what we needed to totally decompress. The long walks on the beaches collecting shells, sightings of dolphins, viewing amazing species of birds, biking throughout the island, kayaking in the bay and a couple days out renting a boat discovering the other nearby islands pretty much sums up the 9 days. It was wonderful! I would definately encourage those that are planning a trip to North Captiva to use the personal shopper to stock the fridge before you get there. We all agreed that this was a great idea! From the moment we landed in Fort Myers, shuttling us to the marina and boarding the ferry, I felt like this was going to be an adventure and it came true!

What our family loves the best about your island is that everyone is so nice and so willing to help out in any situation. That is a far cry from walking the streets here in Philadelphia.
The island is always clean and safe - no cars - no street lights - no fast food chains or strip centers - and you can actually see amazing stars - what else can a family ask for.

We would like to thank our home owners , the stay was amazing we needed a relaxing holiday coming from Canada digging out of the snow and a busy farm life. The home was large enough to fit all 8 of us. The long walks on the beaches and other guess also there to relax greet you with a smile. Beautiful home.

We found Captiva Island to be more than we could have ever imagined. Our stay was both relaxing and envigorating, just what we were longing for. Captiva will always hold a special place in our hearts and we really hope we have the opportunity to visit it again. As a family we grew closer together and I believe that is because such a beautiful natural environment can be so soothing on the soul. Thank you so much to the great people at North Captiva Island Club, you made our vacation spectacular.

We went to the Island for my brothers wedding. There were 9 of us that stayed in house 133-Cinco De Mayo and we had plenty of room. The kids loved the pool! We loved the screened in porch area. It was great having a washer and dryer at the house as well to wash the beach towels and such (would have been nice if they would have dried a little faster..was a older drier). And the fact that we were not that far from the beach was a great bonus. We loved taking the golf carts out in the evening for Island tours and beach sunsets, can't get any better than that! Just an awesome place to vacation, we are trying to figure out how make it back there before next year!
We didn't want to leave.

We loved the house, location, ammenities, wait staff, etc... The food was incredible!
Our scheduled events were a bit messed up - but we rolled with it and it was all good.
We do wish there was a little more inexpensive access to groceries. We came with tons but if you forget anything - you're going to pay a fortune. Other than that - it was awesome and I'm sure we will do it again!!!

Very beautiful & comfortable home/stay. I would certainly revisit and recommend this stay to others.
I do wish, there were more food options, for instance, more restaurants/bars, etc.
