What Past Guests Are Saying
Space with a view!
Steve was the best host you could imagine. From the dock side pickup to all the local information you need to make for a relaxing vacation adventure. The space at Las Olas is amazing, and allows everyone to find their favorite spot.
You may also find the crow's nest to be your favorite spot for that morning coffee or evening beverage. And then there is the pool!

More than amazing!
Las Olas was even more wonderful than we expected. We took four boys (19, 14, 13, 9) who took advantage of everything wonderful about the house. They swam everyday after beach & fishing time. We played ping pong, went kayaking, played billiards, watched the sunset from the top deck, broke open a coconut, played games, watched movies, played on the Xbox, and had a blast everyday. Steve and the other islanders were great. And yet the most relaxing place I've ever been. Can't wait to go back.
Fantastic house, I had no need for club privileges.
Steve keeps an immaculate house. That really should be the only sentence in the review but that doesn't help someone stay completely informed. lol.
The last time I was on N. Captiva I rented through the Island Club, as I thought I needed club privileges. Once I got there I saw that I didn't need the rusty playground and no one really helped me with the broken dryer, freezer, or leaks, or nails sticking out of the floors.
This year, I decided to avoid all that and rent Las Olas. I needed a place that my parents could go to without me having to hear them complain, and my last experience definitely would have.
Steve was nice, informative, and there for us. I will never forget how quick he was when an issue arose. It really meant a lot.
Unlike other well worn rentals on the island, you will not find Las Olas with rotting wood, missing paint, or scary outdoor living areas. Other than his home being fantastic, it also has beach towels, toys, games, chairs, carts, kayaks, and plenty of spaces for people to go to when they need their own space. Las Olas was perfect.
Steve takes care of his place. It is more than pride of ownership. It is hard to describe it. He is just one of those rare people that likes and succeeds in the hospitality business. Steve took our luggage to the ferry for our departure. He could have left but he stayed and waited for the Island Girl to arrive and talked to us the whole time. He was with us until the very end, thank you.

Perfect for our family
All of the reviews are correct. We reviewed every available rental on the island and decided upon Las Olas based on the reviews. We could not have been happier. The house is clean and in great condition. All of your needs have been anticipated and catered to. We quickly developed a routine of exploring a new beach every day, coming home for lunch, kayaking and playing in the pool for the rest afternoon. All of the beaches have a different flavor and our boys (ages 8 and 11) loved exploring the island on golf carts. We hiked through the state park to a beautiful beach (but remember to bring water - it's a long walk). We also enjoyed the observation decks, board games, pool and ping pong tables. The children were never bored or needed to be entertained. We've found our family vacation spot and looked forward to making it an annual event!!

Can't wait to return!!
We just returned from our week vacation at Las Olas and can't wait to return! The trip was for our daughter's high school graduation. We all had a fabulous time! All the "extra" amenities that are included in the rental were wonderful. This was our 2nd visit to North Captiva but our first time to stay at Las Olas and I will not stay anywhere else from now on. Steve was very accomodating and that shows in the layout of the property. We are already talking about returning with some of our friends.. You will be pleasantly surprised when you arrive and see Las Olas!
Wish I was still there
Mid Atlantic Region
This place had everything you could need. Steve made the process smooth with his attention to detail. The pool was perfect for relaxing with my family. The beach gear was perfect for relaxing on the beach. The fully furnished home was a great way to finish out the day. The bedding was very comfortable...much better than I expected. I hope to be able to return soon. Thanks for a fantastic home to vacation in Steve!
Las Olas is a wonderful retreat!
This was our second trip to North Captiva Island, and our first stay in Las Olas. We will definitely go back to Las Olas! Steve's home is very well equipped and a perfect set up for staying on the island. The kitchen has every pot, pan, appliance, and utensil we could ever need. The board games and Dvds kept us entertained when we were not on the beach or enjoying the warm (83 degrees!) pool. Our kids range in age from 6 years to 15 years of age and the house was perfect for each of them. Horseshoes, Bocce Ball, ping pong, and the pool table made the beautiful property even more enjoyable. Steve puts many personal touches into his home and that made our stay extremely comfortable. He met us at the dock, showed us to the house and helped us get settled. We enjoy traveling to various islands and Las Olas is the best equipped home we have stayed in - and Steve is the most personable owner we have rented from. The photos are a very accurate reflection of the house and grounds. I was surprised at the privacy of Las Olas. There is a more than ample supply of both beach and bath towels. And, I must say that even the kids commented on how comfortable the beds are at Las Olas! We took walks on the beach, zipped around in the golf cart to dinner at Barnacle Phil's and had many day time excursions to get ice cream cones. We rented a boat for two of days we were on North Captiva and took trips to neighboring Captiva Island and Cabbage Key. We loved every minute of our stay at Las Olas!

Beautiful place with beautiful views - very short walk to the beach! The house is very clean and offered so many things to do if the weather is cold - ping pong, pool, swimming pool, hot tub, games and lots of movies. The owners were very responsive and helpful in keeping us informed. They also transported us to and from the ferry and helped us unload all of our luggage/food. Highly recommend.
Wonderful Family Holiday!
We had a wonderful family holiday at Las Olas! This was our second vacation on North Captiva but our first at Las Olas! I have no hesitation to recommend this property to anyone. The home is very clean with beautiful and comfortable furniture. The beds are comfortable too! The kitchen is well stocked and I love how the owner supplies spices, cleaning supplies and paper products. The pool and hot tub are clean and private! Our kids loved the pool, ping pong table and pool table!! We also loved the convenience of two golf carts and the sea kayaks. It was a great way to see the island. It is a wonderful place for a family holiday. What else do you need but a beautiful house, nice pool and a breathtaking beach! We will rent this house gain next year.

Love this place!
We visited Las Olas Feb. 9-15, 2013 - our second time there - and it was a fabulous as the first! Steve, the owner and his assistant, Andrew, are the best. Steve is immediately responsive to any problem, request or query and puts every effort into creating a flawless vacatiion. We had a rainy day on the island and thought we would watch movies. I contacted Steve to ask about ordering some movies, but he offered to hand-deliver the two movies that we had wanted to watch - which is exactly what he did. A cable on one of the golf carts had wiggled loose so Steve came from the mainland to fix it, and it was back in action within a couple of hours. We love everything about the island and the property which is well-maintained, clean, and has a fully equipped kitchen. It is one of few vacation homes that actually has comfortable beds to sleep on which is priceless when you are away from home. There is nothing like sitting on the 3rd floor screened-in deck to sip coffee at dawn or eat dinner at dusk with lively conversation discussig the day's adventure of fishing or just exploring the island. We are hooked, as is our 26-year-old and 16-year-old sons. We all have a blast - whether sitting and feeling the cool gulf breeze on the deck, taking a dip in the beautiful pool, meandering around the island on the golf cart, or exploring the state park located on the island - it is all just wonderful, and addictive!
It was like we were at our own private resort.
We just had an incredible two week stay at Las Olas. It was like we were at our own private resort. The luscious landscaping and outdoor décor made the pool area our favorite - nosing out the wonderful screened porch on the main level. That is where we ate most of our meals, overlooking the sea of palms with views of the Gulf of México as well as Pine Island sound. The floor plan was great for our 3 generation family and the home is beautifully and comfortably furnished with many details seldom found in a rental. The kitchen has a good supply of dishes, glasses, cookware and utensils. Even spices! Most of the time you are lucky if you find slat and pepper! Steve also provides facial tissues (Kleenex) as well as toilet paper (Charmin). Everything is first class including the personal service provided by Steve and andrew. This was our first time back to the island in thirteen years and we are so glad we selected Las Olas. Our little dog enjoyed her walks on the beach and cart rides; our son, his wife and our two granddaughters enjoyed exploring the island and the beaches. It was so wonderful to have two golf carts and to be able to bring our pet! We hope to make a trip to this island paradise and a stay at Las Olas an annual tradition

A piece of paradise
This was our first trip back to island in almost 5 years. We were so pleased we chose Las Olas for our five days in paradise. The home is completely equipped and very well kept by the owners! They were readily available if we had needed anything at all. I highly recommend Las Olas if you are thinking about a trip to paradise. We can't wait to return!

Our stay at Las Olas
We had such a wonderful stay at Las Olas. Steve and andrew could not be nicer. The home has everything you need and more. The pool area is my favorite and having the picnic table right by the pool area was great. I must say the beds are very comfortable. The whole house was beautiful.
The ultimate Florida beach experience!
After vacationing the west coast of Florida for the past ten years, I think we have found the best overall experience. When you take into account the immaculately kept Las Olas as your sea shack, you are certain to have a truly wonderful vacation experience. The house was incredible with every creature comfort and observation decks, Steve was perfect in anything we needed. Our biggest problem was trying to determine which beach to return to or hunt for new ones, they are everywhere and mainly isolated. Looking forward to next year!
Larry, Christine and Family
relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated
We enjoyed the private, quiet location, beautiful scenery, especially from the lookout decks, fully stocked kitchen, amazing sound system and computer access, private pool and hot tub area, lovely flowers blooming in the garden, ping pong and pool tables which provided some fun out of the house and out of the sun, fast check in process, two golf carts, one quite large which helped to meet the needs of our wide age range and interest level in our party. Enjoyed having questions answered and needs met without feeling hovered over. Enjoyed talking with Steve and andrew about the wildlife on the island. All this attention to detail and great service has made this our favorite house so far on North Captiva Island!
Better than Paradise
The best place on North Captiva that we've ever stayed. My wife and I have stayed in other houses on the island, but this is the best, and we will not ever stay anywhere els. If youre looking for Great decor and absolute Beauty, this is the place. You can tell from the start that Mr. Muse really puts alot of love in his house. Thanks for one of our best vacations ever. We will be back very soon. Todd and Lisa.
Las Olas is an amazing place. It is beautifully decorated and fully functional. Anything and everything we needed was in the house. We were a large party, 3 couples and kids and there was not one single person who did not love the island and the house. A very relaxed place where we were able to bond as a family, best vacation we have had in a long time. We all want to return, and not just to the island but to Las Olas. We recommend the island, the home and especially the owners whom were great hosts and made sue we had anything and everything we needed. Lovely place to go back in time and enjoy old style family time with all the new world amenities and luxuries. Loved it and would return in a heart beat!!!
Highland Park, Il
Can't wait to go back!!!
Las Olas is a great home. Steve has provided every possible amenity. From the moment we stepped inside, we could see the pride he has taken in his home. The rooms are beautiful and well maintained. The pool area is beautiful, the grounds are beautiful, and not only has Steve thought of everything, but if there are any problems, Steve.is always available to help in any way. It was by far the best vacation of our lives and we are looking forward to retuning to Noth Captiva and especially to Las Olas.
Green Bay, WI
We had a great time on the island and the Las Olas residence was very clean and well maintained. The owner, Steve, was welcoming, informative and unobtrusive. Swimming in the pool, relaxing in the hot tub, sipping coffee on the beautiful enclosed deck at sunrise, grilling out by the Tiki Bar, were only a few of the indelible memories created at Las Olas. We also thoroughly enjoyed exploring the island via golf carts, boating and fishing in the Gulf, lunch at the Bubble Room on Sanibel Island and Barnacle Phils on N. Captiva, as well as beverages at Cabbage Key. My hope is that future guests will respect the Island, property, fellow vacationers and island residents to preserve the serenity and beauty the Island offers.
Outstanding Vacation, truly special.
What a wonderful home in a stunning location. The home has everything you need, more than enough towels, soap etc and every convenience including hairdryers and Wi-Fi, there is even a computer to use.
The house itself is set a 2 minute amble away from the beach (or a 30 second ride by Golf Cart, also provided) amidst beautiful landscaping. The pool and hot tub are first class and there is even a ping pong table for family fun.
Looking at the other houses on the island this is one of the best. We ate at one of the island restaurants one night (there are only three) and we were told by the waitress that she thought Las Olas was the best house around for vacations. We could not agree more.
Steve took care of us from arrival at the dock by bringing our luggage to the property and was on hand by phone when I had a question. Exceptional Service, Exceptional Home.
Best vacatioh I ever had!
Owners have thought of everything to meet your needs. I love that there are such great views all around the house. The décor is fabulous and makes you feel right at home. I have plans to return as I felt so relaxed when I returned home. Certainly not the usual feeling like you need a vacation to recuperate from when you returned home
Perfect Family Holiday
We spent our New Years Holiday with family and friends at Las Olas. Our 4 day mini-getaway started with a personal greeting as our Ferry arrived at Barnacle Phils. We were promptly wisked away to Las Olas (5 minute golf cart excursion). Las Olas is decorated both for the eye as well as comfort. We felt right at home welcomed by the warm gulf breeze and a glowing Sun intent on its final decent for the day.
Our time was spent exploring the pristine nature preserve, shelling on the beach and sharing the surf with schools of mullet and pods of Dolphin all under the watchful eye of a pair of Osprey.
Afternoons were spent by the pool, enjoying drink, fun and sun winding down to what became a serious family Horseshoe Tournament.
The kitchen was the perfect place to end the day. My wife established a menu for every day of our stay and we all enjoyed doing our part to prepare the evening feast.
Las Olas was the perfect way to end our 2011 and kick off our 2012. We will definatley be back!

A wonderful Christmas at Las Olas
This was by far our best family vacation ever. We had a terrific time at Las Olas. Something for everyone: kayaking, swimming in the pool and peaceful walks on the beach. And the sunsets from the home's upper deck...fantastic!
Steve Muse has maintained and furnished his home "first class" from top to bottom. Plenty of amenities that you would expect from a beautiful vacation rental like this. The property was impeccably clean with a well-furnished kitchen.Nice, roomy bedrooms and plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax. I can't say enough about Las Olas. It was just what my wife and three adult children were looking for!
St. Pete Beach
Exactly what we wanted and More!
We came here on our honeymoon hoping for some rest and relaxation and that is exactly what we got!
This home is amazing...it has everything you could want to make your trip perfect. The home is beautifully furnished and very cozy and comfortable. There are plenty of views to be had with this place as it has full wrap around porches and a crows nest for up top viewing.
My husband and I made dinner almost everynight and the kitchen wast stocked with all the things needed without any short comings.
We love this place and would most definitely come back to it. We were sad to leave.
Wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday at Las Olas!!!
We just returned from a wonderful trip to Las Olas for Thanksgiving week. We had an amazing time with our children and all the grandparents at Las Olas. The home is absolutely beautiful...Steve, the owner, has thought of everything to make you feel at home and totally relaxed. The decorating is impeccable and the layout is perfect for entertaining. We enjoyed many a night laughing and playing games in the great room area and screened porch and danced and swam down by the pool and tiki bar. Our kids are already talking about bringing their children here someday when they grow up. It truly is a special place where you have nothing to worry about but spending time with loved ones, relaxing and enjoying the calm and peaceful sounds of the island. Can't wait to go back!

3 in 1 family vacation, wedding, and honeymoon.
When we arrived to the island and saw Las Olas, we were amazed. It was even more beautiful than the photos. The view from the 4th and 5th floor observation deck was incredible. We saw many gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. The bedrooms were very roomy, and the beds were very comfortable. We came to the island to get married, and we had some of the best family time at Las Olas. As we get older and everyone has separate lives, it is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle and do not make time to get away with family. We shared many laughs down by the pool and Tiki Bar, and in the living room. We all felt very comfortable at Las Olas and had all the amenities of a 5 star hotel with the feel of home. Grilling by the pool and preparing dinner in the perfect kitchen, we bonded as a family. My dad has never been a fan of beaches, islands, or pools and was very anxious about the boat ride to the island. He ended up having one of the most enjoyable vacations imaginable. We will never forget the time spent at Las Olas, and will definitely come back! After the rest of the family left, we enjoyed the home for a honeymoon. Las Olas gave us the opportunity to relax, not be on a schedule, and spend quality time together. We are so thankful that Steve let us enjoy his home, Las Olas. He was a great resource so that we knew what to bring to the home to enjoy our stay, how to get there, and activities for us to explore the islands. The open feel of the house and constant ocean breeze created a very comfortable environment. I especially enjoyed waking up and reading in the screened in living area on 3rd floor, very relaxing. The location of the house was perfect, we were in our own little world, yet close enough to the beach. There is not anything we didn't like about Las Olas and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for paradise. Thanks again Steve for sharing your home with my family!
Wow - What a place - the Return Visit!
Well, we made it six months before deciding we needed to get back to the island (see the review from Happy Guest (Colorado) on Vrbo. The island is truly a special place. This time, we took my mother for the first half of the trip to celebrate her recent retirement. In talking with her after we all got back to real life, she told me that until you do it, you can't understand how easy it is to disconnect and relax on North Captiva. Again, the house is wonderful. People slow and sometimes stop in their golf carts to look at the "Old Florida" decorations all around the outside. The inside is modern and is set up perfectly for island life. The guests just prior to us were in a party of 100 for a wedding in which 13 homes were rented. The note they left in the guest book was that they visited the 12 other rentals and Las Olas was far and away the best equipped house. Steve has done even more work on the garden areas and now the pool is blocked from anyone's views. Cobine a great place with a great home and you know why we hope to return to sooner rather than later.
Venice , Florida
From the moment we arrived we were surprised at how beautiful and well kept the house and property were. The pictures on the web site are truly amazing but the wow factor when you actually see it makes this a destination I will travel to for years to come. We had the most incredible view from atop the property on the observation deck. The sunsets we saw from there were priceless. The pool was heated and perfect as we all enjoyed relaxing with a cool drink and hanging out at the tiki bar. We even had a golf cart to explore the island. How cool is that. We
can't say enough about how well all aspects of this vacation went from booking our stay to getting to the island and feeling like we were in absolute Paradise.
We loved everything about Las Olas. Steve has definitely thought of everything when building this home. All we needed were groceries. Everything else was provided. A fully stocked kitchen, 2 grills, and the most comfortable bed ever. We were looking for a place to decompress and relax and Las Olas was just the place for it! We will be returning there in the future!
I felt like I was at Disneyland
This was one of the most memorable vacation. It reminded me of the jungle ride as we came in to the island, with mangroves thick on the shores and egrets fishing by the banks and ospreys perched in the tress. A totally surreal experience after the hustle and bustle of the Bay area.
Then on shore and into the golf carts you use to transport your self along narrow, white soil/sand lanes. Absolutely charming.
House and grounds are breathtaking. Owners have a knack for interior design, and the landscaping was the best I saw on our trip.
Jogged two mornings along a path the owners recommended. I saw turtles, Ospreys, herons, egrets--even two bald eagles and a golden eagle that wasn't bothered by me at all. I've never seen so many sea shells washed up on the beach. Not bucket fulls, but truckloads.
Also saw dolphins and Northern Cardinals that live in the sea grape (?) trees in the backyard by the pool. I am only sorry I didn't catch a glimpse of the bobcat family.
My jog to the end of the island and back was 7 or 8 miles, but it didn't seem very grueling because I had to stop multiple times to pick up whole sand dollars and scan for perfect shells to take home. Or just turn to the ocean to soak up the solitude. On two separate morning runs I saw a total of one person, who was carrying a bucket to collect shells.
This is the place if you need to get away. Most of the houses you can see over the tree line were empty during our stay.
My only complaint was the shower in our room was so clean and there was no rubber mat so we had to throw down a few face towels for safety.
Oh. Only other complaint: one morning it rained so hard my book got completely soaked and took two days to dry out. Fortunately, we were warned to bring cell phones and cameras inside before bed. This was the second week of October, fyi.
Beautiful house. Total privacy. Zero nightlife.
Our stay at Las Olas was incredible.
Quite possibly the best value on the island.
This vacation rental property is fabulous. It appears to be very new and it is clean and nicely decorated and very spacious. It has all the comforts of "home" and more, HD satelite TV, internet access and a beautiful pool. I especially enjoyed the lanai with the cool ocean breeze. It would be nicer to be on the beachfront but I suppose that is too much to expect for the price paid. Besides, it's just a short walk to the beach. This is truly an "Island Paradise"
We Love the Shermanator
23 year olds taking a vacation from work
Las Olas was an amazing house and experience.
We were there from april 27-May1st.
As 23 year olds the house had everything we needed. I plan on taking my family and reletives to the house next time. Great for all ages. The Kitchen and Grill was well equipped to cook all the food we brought. The pictures do not do the house justice. The location is very private but very near the beach. I plan on going back to the house next time I visit, which will be soon.
The house is perfect if your hesitating on spending your North Captiva visit in LaS Olas don't. It will meet and exceed all your expectations.
Best vacation ever
Better than expected House and beach are awesome! Best trip ever!!!
