Pink Sands Cottage is beautiful.
In the guest book at the Cottage I left the comment which is the heading of this review that it is Heaven on Earth - and it is.
Pink sands is superbly located right on the beach - intact its 10 steps away. It's a lovely traditional cottage set in well kept gardens making the cottage private and peaceful. The views from the cottage are absolutely stunning and just sitting on the verandah looking out to sea and along the deserted beach makes this holiday home special. in front of the cottage are coral formations making great snorkelling and just 300 yards up the beach is a beautiful lagoon for swimming - so every morning it would be a swim in the lagoon followed by breakfast on the verandah - perfect.
Ken and adele who own the cottage and live in a villa behind it during periods of the year as you can see from the other posts are lovely people and are always there to help and advise you about Eleuthera. Whilst they respect your privacy, nothing is too much trouble for them and when we had an emergency they were there to help us (how nice is that)
When we arrived at Pink Sands Cottage we had a full programme to visit all the beautiful beaches of Eleuthera. Whilst visiting Twin Coves beach we just said why are we travelling to beaches when we have the best one with the best views at the cottage - so we packed up and came home!!
We have always prided ourselves in never going back to the same place twice - but we will definitely come back to Pink Sands Cottage - it's heaven on earth. -

It's hard to come up with the superlative that best describes our one week stay, but we found the cottage in all regards - location, condition, privacy, ambiance, etc. to fit our tastes and expectations perfectly. Ken and adele, the owners are warm, friendly, nonintrusive, and helpful - just great people. It's clearly evident that a lot of attention to detail went into building the cottage, and the landscaping ensures naturally beauty and privacy. Located centrally, exploring Eleuthera's beauty and charm, north and south, is convenient from Pink Sand Cottage. I recommend this place highly to anyone who is looking for a relaxing Caribbean vacation in a place surrounded by natural beauty, unhurried in pace, and absent of any hint of crowds or "glitz".

If you love a Caribbean beach and all the comforts of home do not hesitate to consider the Pink Sand Cottage. The property and cottage are immaculate. They have thought of everything, from strategically placed decks, hot showers ,satellite tv wifi and much more.It didn't take long to feel right at home. it's true, all you need to bring is your bathing suit and sun screen . We stayed for 2 weeks and didn't want to leave on day 14. Steps away from the never-ending deserted beach and turquoise water, we had to force ourselves to take the short drive to Governor's harbour for groceries or to eat a the impressive beachfront restaurants. Property owner's Ken and adele were very inviting and helpful. The people of Eleutheria are charming. This was a true vacation.

KansasBelieve it!! Perfect little cottage for two, a gem in paradise!
Left on 12/31/2012 for a stay in November 2012
Where do I begin with my review? :-). I researched Eleuthera rentals extensively since this would be our first private owner rental; we had only stayed at resorts or cruised. From our first inquiry until our communication after our return, the owners were easy to communicate with & very informative. Ken answered emails promptly. This provided a great comfort as you read reviews of "Eleuthera, it's not for everyone". It was perfect for us!! The cottage is just as described and just as the pictures state. We would sleep with the windows open listening to the waves crash with the atlantic literally a staircase away! It was immaculate upon arrival and the bed was comfy. We grilled a few nights, plenty of charcoal under the sink. Nice to have laundry in the bathroom closet and it's not a crowded bathroom for a studio. Kitchen had everything we needed. Flashlight came in handy for moonlight beach walks. Duct tape was a lifesaver when I jammed a toe on a rock. The caretaker, Sue, was wonderful! Our stay was the week after Hurricane Sandy and once we lost communication with Ken, in NJ, she was able to help us determine if we'd keep our plans. Such a blessing and a true testament to the people of Eleuthera! The power went off nightly for the first few nights and the water for one day, but after the island got back in order all was perfect! The waters were cooler than normal so we didn't snorkel in front of the cottage, but it was calm enough some days. We only saw one other couple on our beach that week! We did travel to other beaches daily and arranged our car rental through Naaman Rolle, whom Ken recommended.
Eleuthera was the perfect place for us, a truly peaceful & calming piece of paradise. The cottage was perfect, the owners are amazing & the local caretaker was truly that! If you want to get away from all the craziness, this is the place!! You want to tell everyone, but then you want to keep it a secret too. We cannot wait to revisit!!!

Left on 12/31/2012 for a stay in December 2012
My wife and I each have our own small businesses, which means we're basically on 24/7. So, when it's time to take a serious vacation, we look for a dynamite, pristine, remote hideaway with the fewer the people, the better. The Pink Sand Cottage on Eleuthera Island turned out to be a great choice!
Let me first say what it's not: It's not for the unadventureous or those who "need" all the comforts of the U.S. You will not find luxury nor glamour nor Starbucks on the corner. Grocery stores have limited choices and it depends upon what day of the week that particular store gets its delivery to the island, as to the variety you'll have to select from. But, we certainly didn't starve and did just fine. Try the Hob Knob cookies from the United Kingdom!...and the locally bottled Goombay Punch...a pineapple juice with twist of lemon carbonated drink...wow!
Be aware that much of Eleuthera is really a third world country compared to say... Atlanta, Georgia. But the majority of the locals were exceptionally friendly and smiled and waved as we drove by.
Now let me say what it is: The Pink Sand Cottage is an amazing beach bungalow located right on the edge of the sand dune overlooking a pink sand beach with coral formations right in front. We watched large black fish investigating the coral while we sat on the ocean deck and had our bowl of cereal and fresh fruit. A great place to forget about the mania going on in the world as the ocean waves break on the beach right in front of you.
Great seclusion as we only saw 2 people walk in front of our cottage (on the beach) during the full 7 days we stayed there. The pink beaches right out front are phenomenal to walk on (north or south), but you do have to overlook the garbage that clutters it up here and there.
About 3 or 4 miles north of the cottage...French Leave Beach (the old Club Med Beach) is beyond words at the pristine beauty it offers. My wife and I think it is the most fabulous beach we've ever been on...and that includes Hawaii, Florida, the Maldives, Moorea, and Bora Bora. French Leave Beach is too far for most to walk, but is a great place to drive for lunch or dinner at Beach House Restaurant...followed by a stroll on French Leave Beach...impressive and makes an impression...are the guys out there listening?
Driving is on the left, which is an adventure when you're driving an american made vehicle with the steering wheel also on the left. This means you really have to judge just where the center of the road is, as the driver is sitting on the curb side of the road as he/she drives along.
Eleuthera, a real jewel of an island, is plagued with no-seeums which are definitely a nuisance. Best to stay indoors with windows shut when they are most active...2 hours after sunrise and especially 2 hours before and after sunset. Or, you can use Deet to minimize the bites. I wasn't particularly bothered with the bites but my wife was.
My wife and I will have fond memories of The Pink Sand Cottage for many years to come. We both give it a high recommendation. If you are looking for privacy and seclusion on a pink sand beach and can rough it a tiny bit, you will love this place! -

This cottage is placed perfectly on the beach! We spend an entire week and only saw one other couple on the beach the first night there. It really was like be dropped on a deserted island. Spactacular vacation. If you are looking to simply relax, this is the place to do it. Ps: you will need sunscreen and bug spray. The no-see-ums are only bad at night. Thank you so much for sharing your peice of paradise with us!! (the only reason the comfort was lower is because the a/C was broken the first few days, but it was repaired as quickly as they could)! Oh yeah..the sunsets are amazing!!!

This little house on the beach was just what we wanted. We were on Eleuthera for a week and saw no one else on this beach the entire time. Snorkeling right out the front door was great. The house had everything you could need and was comfy and cozy. We enjoyed returning to it after our snorkeling excursions to the many beautiful beaches the island has to offer. Never the same beach twice. This house is centrally located on the island close enough to enjoy both the North and the South ends. You won't have to go far to find what you are seeking.

I really enjoyed our time at the Pink Sand Cottage. It was a time for us to spend two weeks away from the madness of life. The cottage is directly on the beach. The view from the decks are outstanding and the weather and slow pace is just what we needed to relax and rejuvenate.
We rented a car and went exploring every day. There are so many different beaches on the island; you will surely find the beach of your dreams. The cottage is close to Governors Harbour which makes it convenient to restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations. We really enjoyed the beach at the Sunset Grill which is just down the hill from the cottage. You can have a nice lunch on the outdoor deck and then take your chairs down to one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen.
The cottage is very clean with every amenity you can think of. There are plenty of towels, kitchen equipment, puzzles, board games, VHS tapes with classic movies and a comfortable bed to get plenty of rest.
If you are looking for an island paradise where there isn't a lot of tourist development then this is the place for you. It was a wonderful vacation.

This was the most relaxing vacation we have ever taken! My husband and I were looking for a place to get away from on-call phones! We definitely found the spot! The sound of the waves, the fresh ocean smell, the beauty of the clear blue water, pink sand, and parrot fish feeding by the shore...True paradise!
The cottage is centrally located, which makes it convenient to travel in any direction you choose. We traveled the island from north to south and didn't have one bad experience. The locals were friendly and polite. Tippy's was the place to be, it's quite expensive, but well worth the money...Mmmm goood!
Ken and adele were amazing and truly respected our privacy. The cottage had everything we needed and then some.. super clean and optimal seclusion! We saw four people on the beach in one week. Also, we highly recommend Monique for a massage...Marvelous!
The groceries and beer were expensive, but keep in mind that most goods are imported. Try the "Goombay Punch", its made in Nassau, and very tasty. It's vacation...treat yourself!
This is the place to be if you want to spend quality time with your loved one. The tranquility is so intense that the euphoria lingers after you come back to reality.

The cottage suited us perfectly! The ocean right outside the door, easy access to conveniences in N. Palmetto Point, and not being too far from Governor's Harbour and great Caribbean beaches, made the location ideal, too. The list of amenities for a small home was impressive, but how well the home was appointed exceeded our expectations. We are already planning to return next year.

We are in love with the Pink Sand Cottage! The cottage was exactly as advertised. Studio size, while small, was very cozy and in conjunction with the outdoor spaces, 2 decks and a covered front porch, there was plenty of room for two. The cottage was clean and well equipped with everything right down to coolers and beach chairs. Ken and adele were friendly and helpful and very easy to deal with. They were prompt answering emails and confirming reservations and provide all information need to make our planning easy. we have already booked for next year.

The cottage was the perfect place to do it. Ken and adele (the owners) treated us like family and helped us with any questions we had and made great suggestions to make our stay that much better. The cottage was cozy and exactly what we wanted. Right on the beach...beautiful views...breakfast on the deck while watching and listening to the gorgeous ocean. What a way to start your day. Listen to their guest books and go see the suggested beaches. Take the drives and pack food and drinks no matter where you go for the day. Then come back and enjoy the great restaurants. The Pink Sands Cottage is the perfect location for traveling the island. It is in the middle so you can go north and south in great time. We just returned from spending a week at the Pink Sand Cottage on Eleuthera and enjoyed every minute. Ken and adele were great hosts. In the week that we were there, we only ran into 10 different people on the beach. The weather was very nice. Snorkeling, while not as good as a couple of other islands we have visited, was best in the pool of water just to the right of the cottage. We found the food in the local restaurants very good, but you will want to prepare a few meals in the well equipped cottage kitchen because nice meals are expensive. The one thing that we wish we would have brought is a set of binoculars to view the sights and passing ships. The best part of the trip for us was the laid back atmosphere that allowed us to relax.

We have stayed at numerous other locations in the Carribbean and decided to try something different and more underdeveloped and ended up with Eleuthera. The Pink Sand Cottage was great for two active senior citizens. We had great walks on the beach and only saw 8 other people during the week we were there. That's what we were looking for. We enjoyed the nights on the deck star gazing using our phone app.
Our two minor complaints were you need new sheets that fit better (we took off the slippery mattress cover and the sheets stayed in place better. The other is you need to go thru all the information and pamphets and throw out all of the out of date information. We found that some of the places were closed.
We are used to not having street signs and addresses but we found Eleuthera to be a little more underedeveloped than we had anticipated. The closed restaurants, the odd hours, the distances to travel were more than we anticipated. That said, we did eat most of our meals on the porch and enjoyed them very much. And american airlines did find the cottage to deliver our lost luggage the next day after our arrival.Response from Ken & Adele Holtermann - 03/12/2012
Owner
Hi,
We have no control over American Airlines and your lost luggage but do have control over sheets and linens and a call to our maid caretaker would have had you a complete change as we leave her contact phone just for things like you speak of that need attention.
We have many new sets of lines to be placed out for our guests and we find sometimes our maid will wait till sheets need replacing until she places new ones out and please be assured we have spoken to her and that matter is taken care of
As for mattress pads we replace mattress pads with each guest change as we try to protect our excellent bedding ..we had just replaced the bed at the cottage last year with a new Simmons top quality pillow-top bed.
We want to give all our guests the best possible bed to sleep on thus the mattress pad.
As for your issues with the island and places to dine we shall address the books we leave for guests and take out older restaurant information ( there are many changes from year to year so we have to address that and thank you for letting us know.
We get on island in late Jan and stay through May so we are on top of all needed things as soon as we arrive.
A personal note would have worked so much better and some time spent by you doing your homework about Eleuthera would of been to your benefit or email us as we are always available to answer any questions you may have .
Eleuthera is not for everyone and we take great pride in offering what we feel is the best cottage on the water for your travel dollars.
Thank you and we hope you will return soon

We just spent a week at Pink Sand Cottage and we would highly recommend it to others. It's just as it is represented in the pictures, small but well appointed, comfortable bed, phenomenal views, amazing location, and a fabulous beach. It was spotlessly clean, and had nice snorkel gear, good beach chairs, a portable umbrella, and comfortable outdoor furniture.
They have a few different sitting areas up overlooking the beach, a separate hammock, or you can simply do as we did and sit in the water as the tide went out, lapping at your feet and revealing sea treasures and new swimming holes. There are good swimming entry points to the left and the right, and great snorkling all around. We didn't see many people the entire week we were there, and the people we did see on the beach were friendly but wanted their own private time too - so we had a ton of privacy. There was a lot of interesting wildlife, from pretty songbirds chirping in the morning, to small lizards tanning along side you, to a group of Magnificant Frigate Birds flying close to the house, or a school of parrotfish feeding frenetically offshore. You are never bored. At night, the stargazing is totally unparallelled. You can pass an hour on the beach finding new constellations you've never seen.
We felt the location was excellent, we wanted a balance of exploring and relaxing - so you're halfway up the island - easy to get to Cape Eleuthera, but far enough up that heading up to the northern part of the island is easily done. There are small stores in North Palmetto so if you run out of things you don't have to go all the way into GH. And you're very close to Island Farm for great fresh produce, and if it's windy on the atlantic side, you're a 15 minute drive to the postcard-like Ten Bay Beach.
Only thing you should know going in, is that you really do have to bring everything in terms of the kitchen supplies/toilet paper/charcoal for bbq/etc - don't even count on salt or pepper being there. All vacation rentals are different in terms of the kitchen/bath basics that they provide, and this is truly a lovely rental, you just have to remember to grab all the little things at the store. And also, bring bug spray, I am pretty sure this is constant throughout Eleuthera, but we got bitten quite a bit (not inside, but outside).
All in all we'd recommend it to our best friends, and hope to go back one day.Response from Ken & Adele Holtermann - 01/20/2012

Nice oceanfront cottage perfect for a couple. Everything you need for a relaxing vacation. They have beach towels, beach chairs, coolers, and a beach umbrella which we used everyday cause we always ended up exploring the beautiful beaches up and down the island. They recommended a nice guy to get a rental car. Cottage has a closet for hanging your clothes and putting suitcases out of the way. Safe came in handy for our passports and other valuables. They also have a cell phone to use and you can buy phone cards at the local stores. Perfect location being in the middle of island and not too far away from restaurants and stores. Great snorkeling right out front if the wind and water is not too rough. Ken and adele are great to work with. No problems with payments, checking in/out. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We had a great time and would definitely come back.

We spent a wonderful week at the Pink Sand Cottage at the end of July. It was the perfect location to spend our anniversary week, allowing us to relax at the cottage and also explore the amazing island of Eleuthera and neighboring Harbour Island. As first time travelers to Eleuthera we appreciated the great tips provided by Ken and adele and the plentiful materials at the cottage giving us 'insider' information about places to see, things to do and the best places to eat. The Pink Sand Cottage is well taken care of, clean, well equipped and the location couldn't be more ideal. The 'extras' like beach chairs, a cooler, etc made it easy to really enjoy the amazing beaches and site that Eleuthera has to offer. We couldn't be happier with our stay at the Pink Sand Cottage and might just be back...soon!

My husband and I do not care for mega, all-inclusive resorts and let me tell you, it's getting harder and harder to find locations that haven't been overrun by Starbucks and Walmart. But Eleuthera more than fit the bill and Pink Sands Cottage made the experience that much more enjoyable. Beautiful house, great location with everything two people could need for a relaxing beach vacation. The beaches in front of the house go on and on in either direction, making it perfect for early morning walks. Just watch out for the crabs if you head out there at night - they'll defend their beach to the end!
I highly recommend taking the time to drive down to Lighthouse Beach at the southern end of the island. Gorgeous location and easily one of the best beaches we've ever seen. The trip through the brush to get there is an adventure, but well worth it. We also did some snorkeling and swimming at alabaster Bay (where we saw one other person), Club Med Beach, spent a day by ourselves on Poponi Beach, and made it to airport Beach. We decided we'd need at least a good two weeks on the island to explore all the beaches it has to offer.
As for food, I'll second all the comments about Tippy's - fantastic food. It's the only restaurant my husband and I have been to where he has taken the time to thank the chef for a great meal. Also had great meals at Rainbow Inn, The Beach House, and simple lunches at Buccaneer Club and Sammy's on the way to the lighthouse. We also made a day trip to Harbour Island and ate at Sip Sip - amazing food overlooking the island's world-famous pink sand beach. If you do make the trip to Harbour Island, but aware of two things: 1) renting a golf cart is a must (just make sure they give you a map of the island...); and 2) there is zero shade on the beach, so be prepared to spend money on chairs and an umbrella.
It was very sad to leave, but I'm glad we've discovered yet another undisturbed jewel in the Caribbean/Atlantic. Can't wait to go back! -

Not only would we highly recommend The Pink Sand Cottage to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful, romantic getaway; we took the time to read through all the guest books and with the exception of a couple of "bug" complaints, everyone who has ever stayed here agrees! This was not only the best vacation we've ever had; it was the best customer service we've ever gotten. The owners were very nice, quick to respond to emails and even rearranged schedules so that we could have our anniversary week! They gave us invaluable information on air travel, grocery shopping, car rental, restaurants, snorkeling, etc. The caretaker, Sue, was wonderful. She got the cottage ready for us early, and she came to our rescue on short notice. Finally, our security deposit was returned to us before we even got our suitcases unpacked! The cottage was very well appointed with great attention to detail. The photos of the cottage do not do it justice. It is what a beach house is supposed to look like; with shells and sea fans carefully arranged on top of the cabinets, tropical furniture, and beautiful coastal bedding atop a very comfortable pillow topped bed. From the bed, you will awaken to a wonderful view of the turquoise waters of your (mostly) private beach. We loved the backpack beach chairs and the beach umbrella. There are also coolers, floats and snorkeling equipment for your use. The beach, while a bit rocky right in front of the cottage,(bring water shoes) has a good entry point just to the left and a large stretch of gorgeous white sandy beach just around the bend to the right. We snorkeled every day, and the best snorkeling we found on the island was right out in front of the cottage. The pristine reef was beautiful with lots of coral, sea fans and colorful fishes. We even watched a pair of large sting rays feeding and playing on the sandy bottom. Wow! In closing, if you pick The Pink Sand Cottage you won't be disappointed, just please don't pick "Our Week". :~) God Bless!

Great beaches and views. Highly recommend for couples who want to leave everything behind and explore a beautiful island. Don't expect to be pampered it's an adventure. Island people were friendly and helpful. Take mosquito coils to keep the bugs away - works great! Local dining is great it can be a challenge to find.

The heat really hits you when you get off the plane...felt awesome! We recommend a jeep...put the top down! You drive on the left side of the road (??) and so we played chicken with the first car we came across...which was hilarious!
When we arrived at the Cottage (the directions Ken gave us were perfect!) we were blown away with how beautiful the surroundings were! Ken and adele went above and beyond for our stay. Gave us with some food and water since we didn't have time to get groceries the first night. They were super helpful with questions about where to go and what to do or we just sat & talked, it felt like being with close friends. The Cottage is exactly as the website shows. There are cottages around (Ken and adele's behind you) but you still never see anyone...It's fantastic! Bahamians don't like the water and there aren't many tourists so you really do have the beaches to yourself! We saw about 5 people total all week!
The scenic drive all over the island was breathtaking...go explore!! Eleuthera Island is not at all what you'd think after, say, being to Mexico or Hawaii. No coffee shops or malls everywhere, no HoJo's, no Starbucks. No real grocery stores (just a bunch of little stores - no selection). The main place for groceries for us was the Shell gas station - fresh produce, snacks, frozen meat, everything you'd need. Water is heavily chlorinated there so you have to buy water ($12 for a flat), same with pop ($1/can but if you buy 24 cans it's $14-little bit of a deal). But your rum-$15 for a 40!! Worth paying the extra money for coke at that price!
Eating out was not more expensive than at home (a lot of people wrote that in the book) but the 15% gratuity is included in the price! So what your bill says...that's it!! :-)
Tippys was fantastic! Cocodimama's was pretty good. Drinks - Goombay Smash and Bahama Mama...our favorites!
A huge thanks to ken & Adele for the perfect honeymoon getaway!
We will definitely be back!!

Just spent seven wonderful days in paradise!! The Pink Sand Cottage has stunning beauty, unparalleled privacy, cleanliness and attentive and caring owners all rolled into one awesome place!! We took long walks along the beach to admire the beauty of the island and the snorkeling out front was really good with parrotfish, grouper, sergeant majors and a sea turtle among the residents. For an ocean, the water was remarkably calm which we both enjoyed. Be aware though, that paradise and privacy have its price and you will not find an array of dining and car rental choices in Eleuthera. However, we did very well with Naaman on the car rental and Tippy's restaurant featured great food and friendly service. Our best meals were actually spent right at the Pink Sand Cottage itself dining on the porch with an ocean view to die for!! The residents of the island are reserved but friendly and we felt safe at all times. It was great meeting Ken and adele. They are hard-working, hands-on owners who gave us seven of the best days we have ever experienced on this planet!! God willing, we will definitely return for an encore!!

We had a wonderful two weeks at Pink Sand cottage in North Palmetto Point. The cottage was just as it was described on the internet and, having been to a different cottage last year, we had a good idea of the cottage's location, based on our basic knowledge of the island. The cottage was right on the beach, with access just down a few steps. The beach was wonderful for walking, swimming, snorkeling, and beach-combing. Everything you could want was there, especially for those looking for a quiet, relaxing, make your own fun type of holiday. We loved discovering other beaches, having great meals at local restaurants, and just hanging out reading good books, cooking, and relishing in having absolutely no responsibilities. We would difinitely return to this cottage!

Wow !!! Sums it up!
After tooo many over-crowded, bland food, cheap liquor, fight to get a beach chair, All-Inclusive giant mega resorts... We said, "Where's the relaxing beach vacation??
We sought out a place that would be peaceful, secluded and somewhere to forget about the busy everyday life. This is it!!
Pink Sand Cottage is exactly what the website portrays. What you see, is what you get. The descriptions and pictures are what you will experience. The cottage is clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The linens were plentiful and the kitchen has every utensil you'll ever need. Scott particularly likes the green plastic bowl. :)
The landscaping around the cottage is a well manicured variety of tropical foliage, including a cozy shaded hammock and private sundeck. The porch is a great spot for morning coffee at sunrise as well as cocktails and amazing star gazing at night.
The beach is one of the best we've ever seen. Daily we walked miles and miles on beautiful pink sand watching the turquoise water and only encountering 2-3 people per day.
We met the owners, Ken & Adele, who are the most genuine people, they became instant friends. We've rented 20+ homes over the years and have never received the sincere care they express.
If you're looking for a private tropical paradise, this is it!!!

What a difference a week makes. Last week we were on the sunny beaches of Eleuthra and now it's back to work and the Colorado cold. The Pink Sand Cottage was the perfect romantic get away. The cottage was neat, clean, comfortable and most importantly right on the ocean. There is a TV with satellite avaible. I don't know why you would watch it, because the reason you're there is to get away from it all and have that special time being alone with your spouse. The grounds and gardens were kept immaculate. The sunrises were spectacular as you sit on the porch with you morning coffee. As other people have stated, the view of the ocean was not obstructed, however your provacy was totally kept intact. For those of you who do not like tan lines or just want to lounge around in the all natural with your loved one, the porch, sundeck and hammock are secluded away from the view of others, however your view of the ocean is still there. Every day we went for a walk on the beach and maybe met one or two other people. The same goes for the other beaches on the island. Do rent a car from Naaman Rolle, because there is a lot to see and there are some great bars and restaurants in the area. Ken & Adele are a great resource of information, so don't be afraid to ask them questions. All my e-mails were answered immediately and were very helpful. We met Ken & Adele while we were there and they are the nicest, friendliest and most helpful people you'd meet. Ken and adele thank you very much for allowing use to use the cottage so we could enjoy two weeks of sun, water, peace, quite and especially togetherness. We will definitely be back. Ps: No tan lines here. :)

The two person only cottage is near the end of a dead end one lane sandy road after many other beach front properties so is relatively off the grid. off the grid. Shorter flight of sturdy wooden stairs than many other properties to empty soft pink sand beach. easy water entry (including kayak) to calm clear water and excellent snorkeling and kayaking (ocean going 2 person kayak provided can go to outer reefs). Very intimate, nice porch and sundeck. Wi fi was out when we were there. Bring 99.98.11% deet if you want to sit outside at sunset. No bathtub. Tv refridgerator are very good. Outstanding stargazing. It is near Governors Harbor with groceries and restaurants. In the middle of the long island so trips to either end are a day trip. Comfortable and clean. The landlords are very responsive. Good value if you want to get away from it all. Especially in January!

Been home for a week and already wish to be back in paradise. The cottage was very clean & comfortable and a perfect location for getting away from it all. It is very private and not overlooked so clothes aren't neccesary on the patio, sundeck or even swinging in the hammock!
We only saw 4 people all week on 'our' beach, so if you want to pretend to be like Robinson Crusoe this is the place. You can walk miles along the beach whilst looking for shells and even saw large fish swimming within 4ft of the surf and the full moon shining on the sea at night whilst sitting on the patio with a local rum, was a wonder to behold.
We ate in most nights barbecuing fish & steaks accompanied with the local fresh produce and fresh bread from the bakery in Govenors Harbour, yummy!
Recommend hiring a jeep as the roads can be abit rough leading to some of the other beaches, use Naaman, a real gentleman, the jeep was alittle beaten up but good fun and we were thankful for it.
If there is a downside, it's the no-see-ums, take antihistamins and rub fresh lime juice on the bites, very small price to pay for being in heaven for 10 days.

My wife and I have visited many of the Caribbean islands but never one quite like Eleuthera. If your'e looking for clubs, loud music and nightlife, this isnt the island for you. If however you're looking for a quiet revitalizing vacation, you couldn't find a better place.
It is reminiscent of the United States circa 1952 where everyone you meet is super nice and gas station attendants even run out and pump your gas and carry your groceries to your car.
The water, like many of the islands looks like a giant bathtub with fish in it and the beaches are unspoiled because there aren't armies of tourists to spoil them. As a matter of fact, we only met two other people that didn't actually live on the island (we did go during off season though). There is literally miles of beach to walk and shell hunt and you never run across another human being.
You absolutely will not find a more relaxing and revitalizing vacation anywhere. Period. The Pink Sand Cottage sits directly on as good of a beach as you will find anywhere in the world. As far as you can see either way, there is no one. There are areas of rock on the beach but if you pay attention to the water, you will actually see naturally formed rock pools perfect for sitting in (that was one of my favorite things to do).
Needless to say, I highly recommend the Pink Sand Cottage.

We had an incredible time at the cottage! It was perfect for 2 and the location could not have been better. The patio overlooks the beach, and you have an immediate walkway down to the beach and the plethora of coral reefs right off the shore. All you need is a bathing suit - and I would highly recommend renting a kayak for your stay so you can reach the reefs further off the beach (which we did through the owners and did not have to lift a finger).

Left on 08/06/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We just spent 8 days in Palmetto Point Eleuthera at the Pink Sand Cottage and we had a wonderfully relaxing time. The area is centrally located so it's easy to access everything on the island from north to south. The cottage is very clean and well maintained and the grounds and surrounding beach are beautiful. Everyone we met in the towns was very nice and we definitely want to go again. If you're planning a trip to Eleuthera then this is a great vacation rental for two people. If your bringing more people then Ken and adele also have a larger house next door as well. Oh and one more thing, the car rental person that Ken and adele recommend, "Naamon" gives wonderful service and great prices comparatively and he will meet you at the airport. He was also available for advice via email or phone during the entire stay on the island. One more note, if you're hesitant about staying on the atlantic side and feel you'd prefer the Caribbean side, there is a beach on the Caribbean side that is about a ten minute drive from the house where you can walk out at least a quarter mile and still only be in waist deep water that is about as warm and clear as bath water. We went there often among many other places. Just a note, being able to bypass Nassau and fly direct from Ft Lauderdale via Continental was also a good experience just be sure not to fly Lynx/Florida Coastal air. They canceled our flight 48 hours prior to departure and refused to give us a refund. They've also left people stranded at various places because they fail to show up for the return flight home. All in all, we have no regrets other than Flca canceling our flight and refusing a refund, the stay was everything we hoped it would be. Thanks Ken and adele for great service and a nice vacation.

We spent a wonderful week at the Pink Sand Cottage on Eleuthera. Ken and Adele were great hosts, kind and helpful at all times.
The sight from the house is marvelous, and its fantastic to wake up looking directly at the sea. It's great to go out for a morning walk on the beach, where you can walk for miles without meeting anybody.
The Cottage itself is thoughtfully planned. We liked to cook a lot and had all the tools we needed ... and then some. It is also perfectly located at the middle of the long and narrow island, so one week is perfect for exploring the north as well as the south.
Eleuthera itself is a great, quiet island; some of the most beautiful beaches we have seen all over the world we have found here (Lighthouse Beach particularly). It should especially appeal to the more adventurous vacationers, who like to explore hidden gems a little bit off the road, and who like to spend their time on their own. Although with Tippy's and the Eleuthera Beach House, there are really nice bars around.
Things probably not for everybody are the rather rough and bumpy ride to the Cottage, and the small but feisty sandflies ... use a LOT of repellent when you sit outside in the evenings.
Altogether, it has been an amazing stay, and we definitely think about coming again. Highly recommended. -

We rented the Pink Sand Cottage in January. The cottage was exactly as it was described on the web site. The fact that it was directly on the ocean was great. We were able to get up in the morning, put on our suits and go snorkeling or for a swim. The weather was gorgeous. The TV was down, but that turned out to be a plus because we were able to converse and enjoy the light show. The stars were amazingly bright without any light pollution. We were lulled to sleep by the sounds of the ocean. The restaurants were OK, not bad, but we're spoiled living in New England. I'd recommend buying some groceries and cooking at the cottage sometimes. We took a day trip to Harbour Island. It was OK, however it would have been better to stay overnight because it's difficult to get to the beach otherwise. Overall, the cottage was in a great location, the dirt road was somewhat difficult to navigate, but it was worth it to arrive at a wonderful, beautiful cottage.

During the January season when we visited, we saw 5 other people total on the beach THE WHOLE WEEK. The intimate cottage is limited on space, so make sure you are in love with the person you are with! Has satellite television with local Miami stations. There are several small markets to visit for food supplies, and some great restaurants as well. Be sure to try Tippy's. Take your time to walk in both directions down the beach, and take a day trip to Harbor Island. Go early there, as most shops close in mid-afternoon. My wife and I spent our long delayed (26 years) honeymoon on Eleuthera at the Pink Sand Cottage. We were there the last week in October, 2008. I must say that the Cottage and the island certainly lived up to our expectations. The house is plenty big enough for two people and is very well designed and comfortable inside. The best part is when you walk out on the back porch and that amazing blue ocean is only a few yards away. It is only a few steps down the stairs to a beautiful beach that has nobody on it but you for as far as you can see. We were there for 10 days and I counted only 12 people on the beach the entire time. This includes a two mile walk in both directions when we saw nobody at all on the beach.
There was great snorkeling to be had within a few yards of the cottage. One of the nice things about Eleuthera is how isolated you can be, but there are still grocery stores and nice restaurants within easy driving distance. Speaking of driving, you will need a car. We rented a car from Naaman Rolle (you can get the details from the Cottage owners, Ken and Adele) and we were very satisfied. The car did have a dead battery, but Naaman got right on it (island time of course) and replaced it. There is internet access in the Cottage and we were able to get any questions answered quickly. We were also able to use Skype to make phone calls. Ken and Adele are very nice people and do everything they can to make your stay a good one. Our trip to Eleuthera was by far the best vacation we have ever had. We can?t wait to go back.

Wow! Where do we begin to describe our fantastic stay at Pink Sand Cottage? The cottage itself was beautiful, cozy and comfortable. We had everything we needed inside the lovely home. We felt we were out on the ocean when we gazed out the front windows and saw the ocean. Relaxing on the front porch watching the waves and the world go by was a favorite pastime. I also loved roaming the beachfront and searching for shells. Perfect peace and serenity.
We did explore much of the remote island. Our trip to the Lighthouse beach in the south was rough but so worth it. This beach is gorgeous, with the contrast of rugged clifts and the calm ocean. We also enjoyed Ten Bay and Double Bay beaches. Our favorite was the Club Med beach; long and wide pink sand and incredible crystal clear water. Great swimming.
Our kind hosts, Ken and Adele, were awesome. They helped us out in so many ways, including putting together our wedding on the beach in front of the Cottage. It was incredibly enchanting and magical with the sand at our feet and the ocean swirling in the background! A perfect place for a perfect wedding.

night life... this is not a Club Med island. Enough local eateries to justify going
out a few nights. -

This is a small but very quaint villa. Ideal for a romantic stay for two. The owners did a great job of landscaping the grounds to make this property feel secluded in a residential area. The sun deck is very private and we spent most of our time there. During our week stay we only saw about a dozen people on the beech, perfect! The house is also in a good location to sight see the rest of the island. North Palmetto point is probably one of the nicer areas to stay on the island. Eleuthera is a very laid back place, you can explore the entire island and not have any worries. A must see is half moon beech(a little hard to get to but worth it).

Minneapolis, MinnesotaAn incredible week
Left on 08/22/2009 for a stay in February 2009
My husband and I arrived just after dark, and our host, Ken, was waiting for us. Nate stayed and chatted while I tripped up to the top of The Bank, and there it was: a wild, wild ocean thrashing against shore; all I could could do was yell "Nate!" It was mind-blowing right from the start.
The cottage was cozy and well furnished, with a really big tiled bathroom that had a washer and dryer in a corner. Everything that we needed was there, lots of towels, washcloths and beach towels. The kitchen was well equipped, with a bar and stools for sit-down eating. The rattan bed and furniture were comfy.
The location was so quiet; one can just barely see the neighboring cottage through the beautiful, lush tropical trees and plants. We saw no one out front on 'our' beach all week. The next night, the full moon rose, orangey pink like an apricot, setting the waves aflame. Our days were spent exploring the island, visiting many different beaches and meeting the very friendly folk that live there, sampling the local cuisine, which was very good, and surprisingly affordable.
Our vacation was was so good that even the few things that went haywire ended up being wonderful. It was cool and very windy the week we were there, which meant we didn't take out the kayak we'd rented, and didn't use the grill for the same reason. A little disappointing, but there were plenty of other things to do. On the other hand, the wind probably kept the bugs away. This was about as far you can get from a packaged vacation at a resort without sacrificing any of the comforts of home.
