We have rented houses in France, Canada and the States, including Topsail in the past. And we have seen the whole spectrum:from the best to the worst. I would rate this house as average.
While the location was perfect, we were disappointed by the state of the house. We suspect it is not being updated because it is for sale. As a result, several pieces of furniture were in bad shape, especially the mattresses and the outdoor furniture. We had trouble sleeping because we kept rolling towards the center of the beds (both in the king bedroom and the 2 double bed bedrooms).
Lesson learned! Next time we rent a house, we will make sure it is not for sale!Response from Treasure Realty - 01/07/2013

We were very satisfied with the home choice. We loved having the hot tub under the stars near the beach. A single level home was a plus with our family having several older adults this made for a more efficient stay.

This house was amazing! It was amazing in everyway! The view was spectacular and we had plenty of room with a perfect beach! The beach was ucrowded which was so nice for the family and not have to fight the crowd! It was great with having young children! The service was great; being very friendly and helpful! I would highly recommended this house to anyone! And am sure we will be returning!

We were very happy with this house. It is much larger then the pictures would let on. We are a small family, two adults and two children and only ended up using about 3/4 of the total house. I could see two more couples, or another family of four sharing and it still being plenty of room.
The fixtures, furniture, layout and flooring were great. Had very easy access to the beach,( was nice cooking pancakes while watching the ocean)and easy access to stores and restaurants.
Negatives were minor, the sink and bath fixtures showed their age, and the drain in the master tub did not stop up, so for baths we had to use a different bathroom for the kids. Really no big issues, and no way did it impact the enjoyment of our trip. -

As stated above, horrible condition, filthy furniture, bed covers with body fluids on them, no mattress pads on 1/2 the beds. Screen porch torn. Was told that this property was underforclosure...easy to see. Bad cooking implements, pots/pans, etc. Dust on fans 1/2 thick. Poor job of cleaning.

Loved the somewhat private location, away from more crowded beaches. The views from the house were fantastic. Great screened porch and the hot tub was the best. Felt like the hot tub was right on the beach! Huge table so all could eat together and great house for games. Very good TV for watching sports!

Love this house. This is the second time we rented this location. Everything is all on one level which is easy on the knees. Not too many steps to climb. A nice touch is the linens being furnished. That saves a lot of space in the luggage. Never did figure out how to operate the sound system, though. Maybe someone could print out instructions!

My wife and I decided to rent a vacation home for out Thanksgiving family dinner which included our children and out of state family. When my wife and her mother arrived at the rental unit 2 days before Thanksgiving, and a day before my arrival, they were horrified with the conditions of the rental property. Bugs everywhere, filthy toilets, filthy kitchen, rat or mice droppings all over the house. Ceiling falling down in master bedroom, hot tub not working, freezer door frozen shut. Too many issues to go on. You would think that the rental company would have checked out the unit before we arrived to insure everything was up to standards. This either didn't happen or the folks at the rental unit were imcompetent. After spending the entire first day cleaning the house and waiting for numerous repair men to show up, we somehow made the best of a very bad and disappointing situation. The folks at Treasure Reality were of little help and actually were not very appologetic. Needless to say we will never use nor recommend Treasure Reality again.

Hey Wally....thanks for your honest and straightforward review. Ouch! I know the house has been serviced in many areas since your stay and I know many families have found it quite delightful, so I hope the circumstance you encountered is now unique. I did find our records for your stay in 2009 and I have to admit, this is not what we want any guest to find when they arrive. There are a few occasions when the housekeeping vendor has to be invited to return to properly prepare a home. I don't think we had that opportunity in your case, but at least we were able to get you a significant discount for your discomfort. I don't have any excuses, but I can say that we have been working really hard over the last couple years to keep this type of thing from recurring.
