This is my second year staying in Thorton-Le-Dale and this time was every bit as good as last year. Both cottages were owned by the same family and i decided to try Brookwood cottage only because the other one was fully booked.Everything was just as i expected, great accomodation, very friendly people and the owners, well i can't praise them enough.
Thorton-Le-Dale has to be the best village i have ever stayed in and as i am 60yrs old and travelled, that says something.
A short walk (50yards) you have one of the best bakeries in the country, another 5 yards and a lovely cafe, gift shop and not forgetting the ice-cream parlour, you have got to try it.
The location (and thats if you can find the time to leave the village)is 1st class,Scarborough, filey,Whitby, York and Gothland (heartbeat)are all within a 30 minute drive.
My wife and i are already planning our holiday for 2014 and it is definately in Thorton-Le-Dale.

Everything was fantastic except that we found it impossible to use the third bedroom because of the noise of the water tank. This was a very serious drawback as we had booked 3 bedrooms because we needs all 3. Also, a pint of milk etc as a welcome would have been nice after a long journey to arrive.

A spacious well appointed proprty maintained to a high standard. The cottage was well appointed with all the appliances that could be needed, together with lots of matched ornaments that gave the place a homely feel. It is well sited in the centre of an attractive village close to shops, restaurant and pub. It is also near Pickering, the start of the excellent North York Moors railway (well worth a visit)and excellently located to visit the moors as well as the coast. York too is within reasonable travelling distance. The owners were helpful and welcoming. We will definately be going back!
