We stayed at Cherry Tree cottage for 5 days in august 2012. The cottage is clean, tidy and very comfortable, and we felt relaxed and rested when we left. The village location was quiet and friendly and we found good walks for our dog nearby. We would definitely book again if we wanted to return to the area.

The kitchen was stocked with baking/roasting equipment but not the basics, such as washing-up liquid, small pans, small mixing bowl, tea towel.
A welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk would have been appreciated.
The information supplied regarding the area was very good.
Two light bulbs were not working in the kitchen.
The small rugs scattered around were a hazard.
Was not happy with the fact that there was no dropped kerb at the entrance for our car.
The village was nice and the local shop catered for most needs.

The cottage was ideal as we wanted to stay somewhere close to family who live in a nearby village. Very warm and comfortable although second bedroom is rather on small side. Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. A really nice touch was the Christmas tree which had been put up and decorated for us as our stay was over the festive period! Ideal location for those wanting a charming quiet village or interested in local country walks.

tail end hurricane sure beats caravan in wales

We were originally booked to go to wales in a caravan but the tail end of a hurricane was due to hit nth wales, so we had a look to see what else we could find, and there was Rose Cottage. Booked via cottages 4 u and 1 hour later we were on our way to Carlisle.
If you want to walk the beautiful central parts of Hadrians Wall and experience the wonderful Eden Valley you could ask for no better place to stay. The cottage lies in a lovey little village with a regular bus route and close to several of the the local Hadrian's Wall bus route stops. It was cool and extremely windy when we went, but there is a lovely garden to sit in should the weather be good enough, we were also visited by a lovely resident male pheasant who roosted in the fir tree hedge every night.
The cottage itself is clean and homely with a well equipped kitchen, fab power shower when coming back after a very long walk along the Walls, and comfortable sitting room. Considering the cottage is pet friendly it was very clean and fresh, we wished we could have taken our old mutt with us - too much walking! The cottage provides good local information on what to see and do in the area, if you are a Lakes lover and want a change this is the place for you. We had a very pleasant and enjoyable holiday, so thank you Rose Cottage for the part you played. Highly recommended.
Relaxing, unobtrusive peace.

A very quiet retreat and has all the attributes required for a tranquil break. Pleanty of walks. Village shop good but pub very poor, certainly food wise.
