Situated in the heart of the beautiful Northumberland countryside in the hamlet of Ridsdale, Rainbow Cottage is a traditional stone built two bedroom cottage that sleeps up to 4 people. The cottage has original features such as beamed ceilings and an open fire as well as a modern decor and the convenience of central heating. The cottage is available all year round for a week or a short break.
There are fantastic views from the cottage, looking high out over the valley onto the countryside and the Cheviots.

The village of Ridsdale is situated on the A68 and is perfect for exploring surrounding areas, only 30 minutes from Newcastle but still in the heart of the Northumbrian countryside. Ridsdale has just a pub, The Gun, which serves food.Local Amenities include a post office/newsagents and The Bay Horse Inn which serves food within the neighbouring village of West Woodburn 2 miles away. The small town of Bellingham, approximately 6 miles from Ridsdale has quite a lot to offer. A very picturesque place which has banks, shops including a co op, butchers, chemist and bakers, chinese take away, cafes, pubs and hotels. The Cheviot Hotel in Bellingham does take away food also and is a very friendly place for a drink or a meal .http://www.facebook.com/CheviotHotel
There are manyTourist attractions but here are some of the most popular and if you are looking for anything in particular feel free to contact me. Fishing is available in several locations, the nearest being http://www.sweethope.co.uk for fly fishing and can be booked by going to their website. Located just outside the village.Walking around Hadrians Wall is the most popular of locations but there are many, including Kielder Forest. At Bellingham there is also Hareshaw Linn which is a lovely walk, approx 2 miles with a magnificent Waterfall at the end, perfect for kids too.Kielder Water and Forest is Europes largest man made lake which is a wonderful place for walkers, cyclists( bikes can be hired there), water sports and also lots for the kids at Leaplish there is a play area, mini golf, Bird of Prey Centre, pub and boat trips. Further up Kielder to the top there is Kielder Castle and a free maze which makes a fantastic day out.The cycle hire place is located here. For more information on Kielder the website is www.visitkielder.com. Golfing is very popular at the Bellingham Golf Course which can be booked at http://www.bellinghamgolfclub.com. Swimming is also available at the Riverdale Hall Hotel in Bellingham and has a sauna too.There are also of course all the fantastic coasts, gardens, country houses and castles and that Northumberland has to offer.

Shopping The Metrocentre is only about 30 mins drive away, as is Newcastle and more locally are the towns of Hexham and Morpeth. A day trip to Edinburgh is also possible as near the Scottish borders.
