Once the home of nineteenth century artist, Thomas Sword Good, this beautiful property maintains many of its original features such as working Venetian windows and shutters. This grade II listed Georgian town house, overlooking the River Tweed Estuary, was built in the eighteenth century on Berwick-upon-Tweed's historic quay walls. With accommodation spread over three floors, this property has been furnished with great attention to detail, and the visitor’s comfort in mind. With a well-equipped kitchen, two cosy sitting rooms with open fires and wonderful views, this historic property is ideal for a quiet getaway with friends or a trip... with the whole family.

Region: Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.
Town: As England’s most northerly town, Berwick-Upon-Tweed changed hands fourteen times during the Scottish attempt at gaining control of the border territories. Since then, Berwick left its violent past behind and is now a lovely, peaceful little settlement, with its great Elizabethan walls enclosing a labyrinth of cobbled streets, shops, pubs, restaurants and picturesque buildings. Walks along the city walls provide spectacular views over the nearby coast and river estuary. The Maltings Arts Centre hosts a wide array of cultural events, including theatre, cinema and music whilst fishing, golf and riding facilities are plentiful and close. The local leisure centre also boasts a great swimming pool with waves and flumes – the prefect activity for when the weather isn’t as good as it should be (though if you prefer the real thing, the sandy beaches of Spittal are only two miles away.) With excellent public transport, day trips to Newcastle and Edinburgh are easy, making Berwick a wonderful location for those wishing to explore a little further afield.Read more

The house was warm and welcoming on arrival, which was perfect for cold February days. We loved all the tasteful furnishings and felt it was real taste of luxury. Berwick on Tweed is a great location for a day's rail trip to Edinburgh, there is good walking locally, drives into the Borders, and has a number relaxing pleasant eating places. The walk around the walls where the house is situated is a lovely way to start the day. We were very lucky with a dry week. We enjoyed relaxing in the drawing room overlooking the water.
