Description from the manager
The master bedroom has a King bed and a private bathroom with a bath tub, a rare items in Nosara. There is also a large walk-in closet and a/c. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a separate bathroom, to be shared with the loft. The loft has two twin beds. Please note: the steep wooden ladder to access the loft is not suitable for children 8 and under.
There is a/c in both bathroom and in the living area. The kitchen is fully equipped, except for the lack of oven. A dining table and chairs, made of Guanacaste wood are set on the terrace for your meal and a bar counter in the kitchen is great for breakfast time as well. The house has...Read more

New York NYStay Here - Be Happy - A little piece of paradise.
Left on 03/20/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We are a couple from NYC who spent a week at Los Pericos.
The Good: The location is ideal. Down the hill is a beautiful beach called Playa Pelada . We had a car so we drove the 2/3 minutes. I guess you could walk. The house is up in the hills and is very private. A family of Howler Monkey's came to visit daily. Birds and vegetation abounds. Beds are comfortable. We slept great. Air condition worked fine. The place is secure and alarmed. The pool is perfect to cool off and relax. Furnishings are tasteful and the home has artisanal quality. Bathrooms are beautifully tiled.
The Not So Good-
Water pressure for showers are low, with not a lot of hot water. This could be the house or just the way it is in Nosara. Not really sure.
We cook a lot, one of the reasons we rent a house instead of staying at a hotel. Note to owner- please replace all Cookware! The pots and pans are old and all the coating is scratched on every piece. For the price of the rental, please spend a little money and upgrade the cookware. Also, there was nothing in the kitchen except a shaker of black pepper. It's nice to rent a home with a few basics like salt, sugar, a few dried spices etc. We also could not get the internet to work. To be honest, after a few attempts we did not call anyone to turn it on. It was nice to un-plug for a week.
All in all - It is an excellent house and we would return.Response from Nosara Property Management - 03/26/2013

Thank you for your review. The owner saw it and told us that he would bring a brand new set of pots and pans when he comes to Nosara in May. Regarding the storing of spices, this is not something that is convenient to do in Nosara, due to the climate and humidity, as these products will go bad in a very short time if not used right away. In the rainy season, salt, for example, will literally liquefy overnight!
Water pressure has an issue in town this year (March), as we did not have a lot a rain when it was supposed to fall (Oct), and the water reserves are low. We hope to see you again at Los Pericos very soon! -

This turned out to be great place to relax. For this, I would highly recommend this property. It has all you need including its own pool and wifi. There are small towns and stores nearby as well. There were Howler Monkeys in the trees near the house! Good photo op and exciting for us. Nice beach within walking distance, and plenty of other beaches via a short drive. If what you're after is seeing a lot of Costa Rica, I wouldn't recommend it as a home base. It is pretty far of the beaten path to get to and from daily. But again, if you want relaxation, this is the place!

san franciscoGreat House for a Group
Left on 01/27/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Stayed at this place with a friend in January. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place for a large group of people.
House
This is a very cute and clean two bedroom house with a large living room and great pool area. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to cook a few great dinners. The beds were comfy and the aC units were quiet and strong. This is an ideal set-up for a family for a large group of friends -- definitely enough space for everyone.
Booking Process
Booking is done through wire-transfer and this stumped me a bit, since I am used to paying for things with credit cards. As I understand, wire-transfers are fairly common in Costa Rica, so after the initial hesitation I sent off the cash. Aside from the bank fees, the proces was easy and agnes is totally reliable. She was very responsive over email and phone and made me feel very comfortable with the whole thing.
Location
The house is up in the hills, so it's really quiet and private. Its a 10 minute walk to the playa pelada beach and a 20/30 minute walk to the main strip of the Guiones town. There is a hostel with a really cool bar that looks out onto the ocean about 5 minutes away on foot -- great place to hang out.
Downsides
You really do need a car or at least an aTV if you are going to stay here. The dirt road to town doesn't have sidewalks and is very dusty. It's just not safe to walk. Though, this comment goes for all of the accommodations in the surrounding area, not just Los Pericos. The water in the shower was always luke warm, but never hot. -

Prescott, ArizonaBeautiful house in jungle location near the beach...fantastic!

We spent a week at Los Pericos and had a truly wonderful time. I thought the location was perfect...close to great restaurants and the beach. Beautiful setting and craftsmanship on the home. Only drawback to the house was poor water pressure for the showers, but suspected mineral build up in the shower heads. We advised agnes, the property manager and feel confident this problem will be addressed. She was great to work with too by the way and responded quickly to any of our needs or questions. We were traveling with two 15 year olds and a 6 month old and it turned out to be a great place for us all. We loved it!

Service is wonderful. Agnes and Joe are delightful, courteous, competent. House is comfortable and located well for the beaches, market, restaurants, and in a quiet enclave.
Caution: take agnes' admonitions about security seriously. Petty theft is more than common. -

Brooklyn, NYCBeautifully amazing
Left on 02/01/2012 for a stay in January 2012
My wife and 4 friends stayed here and it was an absolutely amazing home with a great location to playa Pelada and Guionnes. We surfed twice a day and walked easily to guionnes to do so. Pelada is by far the best area to stay, as it has great food (almost paradise has great breakfast and Panchos great dinner) but it's more relaxing and secluded. The home was super nice and relaxing, the pool was a must after a long day of surfing and was super clean. This is my third time to costa rica and this trip was the best so far. We have friends that live in Nosara and they said this is one of the nicer homes they've seen. Would definitely come back..

We really enjoyed our stay at Los Pericos. It was my husband and I and our friends, another couple(4 adults total). Our ages range from 27-34, the guys walked down to the surf morning and evening. We loved cooking at the home, all the tools we needed were there. We drank the water right out of the faucet and it takes good and doesn't make you sick. There are little grocery stores /markets in walking distance where we could get all the food and beer/alcohol we needed. Plenty of bars and restaurants; everything in a very easy walk. No need for a car. The pool is lovely, clean and warm. Everything is beautiful and close by. We felt very safe and happy and very lucky to get to vacation in such a lovely part of the world and be so comfortable in this house. I would absolutely rent this same place again and recommend it to family/friends.

Los Pericos is in a perfect location for both nearby beaches, We loved the hostel almost Paradise for dining and socializing as well as Olga's and La Luna. It was an enjoyable place to prepare meals and was very private by the pool. We chose to walk everywhere and only had a car for three days in the month and it was very managable...and great exercise walking Guionnes almost everyday. Agnes was totally accomodating for anything we needed or wanted to arrange and the property is clean, quiet, safe and managed very well. WiFi was a bonus!

Los Pericos is a beautiful house. Easy walking distance to Playa Pelada and Playa Guiones, as well as close to several restaurants and a mini-super. I would definitely stay at Los Pericos again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a gorgeous space to relax in. My only recommendation would be for the property owners to provide an outdoor barbecue or grill as there is no oven inside the home.
By the way: It's actually a 2 bedroom with a loft that can sleep 2 more people, for a total of 6, not 4 as this site is suggesting. -

Stowe, VermontVery Nice Home
Left on 05/21/2009 for a stay in June 2008
This is a great rental house. We were in Nosara for a family wedding and really enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful inside and out. We did really enjoy the pool and the location to the beach was excellent. The only negative was that the stove stopped working after an electrical storm- this problem has probably been fixed and was not really major for us. We ate out almost every night anyway. Also as a general consideration, anyone staying in Nosara should know that petty theft is a very common problem. This house was safe with bars on all windows, a safe, and a good alarm system, but three of our family members rental homes were broken into. We did not have any problems.
