Additional Location Information
The area of Nosara has four distinct beaches that are all part of the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge where no motorized vehicles are permitted.
Playa Guiones is three miles of undeveloped white sand beach. It has consistent waves that are ideal for surfers of all skill levels. The spectacular sunsets on Guiones beach are perfect for vacation photos. Located at the south end of the beach are tidal pools that are excellent for swimming and snorkeling at low tide. Villa Cortes is located directly above the south entrance to Playa Guiones.
Playa Garza is south of the Playa Guiones point. This beach is protected by a barrier reef. Garza is a fishing village with a few beachfront local bars and restaurants. The local fishing fleet have their boats anchored offshore which makes for a very quaint, picturesque setting. World Class deep sea fishing charters are available daily.
Playa Pelada is to the north and is a beautiful small curving beach with rock formations. It is located between Punta Nosara and Punta Pelada. With the right tide and wave conditions Pelada has an amazing “Blow Hole” which shoots water high into the air. Pelada is a beautiful beach walk from Villa Cortes. Be sure to check out La Luna restaurant—a great place for sunset drinks and dinner.
Playa Nosara & Playa Ostional are both black sand beaches that are to the north of Playa Pelada. Ostional has a fast hollow wave that is world class and is best suited for advanced surfers. These two beaches are the nesting grounds for the Olive Ridley turtle. When the turtles come to nest there can be thousands of them on the beach at the same time. This is truly a spectacular sight. For more info on viewing the turtles contact the ADIO office in Ostional 506-2682-0470.

What Past Guests Are Saying
Fabulous Place to Stay-Great for Large Groups and Families
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Villa Cortes with 4 families, 8 adults and 8 teenagers, over spring break. This is a beautiful property that's private yet within walking distance of town and the beach. So much nicer and more private than staying at a hotel. Villa Cortes has its own well and we all drank the water without any issue. I'd highly recommend this private paradise.
Grounds: The property is large, the gardens and pool are gorgeous and the grounds are meticulously maintained every morning. It's a short 5 minute walk to the beach. There's plenty of room to get away on your own for a nap in the hammock, a sunset view up in the yoga pavilion or just floating on an air mattress in the pool.
Meals: Aida makes a fabulous fresh breakfast everyday thats included. Casa Cortes has the largest kitchen where we prepared our meals. Casa Cortes also has a fabulous large wrap around terrace that we used for cocktail hour and dining for our large group of 16.
We went to the fish market one day, located next door to Il Basilica, and bought mahi mahi and made fish tacos. The big white box fruit truck comes Monday/Wed/Friday at 10:30am across from Robin's Ice Cream and has a fantastic selection of fruit and vegetables at great prices.
We had a personal chef that works at La Luna come in one night that made us a fantastic dinner with many local tico dishes. It was our best meal of the trip! He made so much food at $25 per person that we ended up using it two nights. His name is Jiiro and I booked him through Marc at Coconut Harrys. Marc from Coconut Harry's down by the beach became our personal Nosara concierge and he was fantastic! He set us up with great restaurant recommendations, massage, zip lining, fishing trip, directions, personal chef and of course all of our surf lessons. Even us 4 moms surfed every day.
Fabulous private paradise! Would highly recommend.
