Additional Location Information
To get to Nusa Lembongan you catch a fast boat ferry from Sanur to the island. We suggest using Rocky Fast Boat Ferrys as they offer comfortable cruisers with the fastest crossing time taking approximately 30 minutes.
Nusa Lembongan is one of three neighbouring islands of Bali, approximately 12 miles from south east Bali and 20 miles from Lombok. The other two islands are Nusa Penida being the bigger and Nusa Ceningan being the smaller.
Nusa Lembongan is a pristine tropical island, its highest point is 50 meters above sea level. Little temperature variation from 30 degrees Celsius occurs between the only two seasons this island experiences being the wet and the dry. The wet season is from December to February and the dry is from March to November. As it has only three months of rainfall, this island is dry for the remainder of the year.

What Past Guests Are Saying
Kelley & Justin
Wake me up... I think I'm in heavan!!
Can I start by saying that nothing in this review can do justice to the magnificence, luxury and views that you will experience at Villa Biru. Let me just say this - if you are visiting Lembongan and want a few days in paradise, you must stay at Villa Biru.
Everything you could possibly want in a luxury villa is here - arguably the best view on the island, to be enjoyed from arguably the biggest and best infinity edge pool, surrounded by luxury accommodation where everything has been thought of and no expense has been spared. For example, the Villa's very own water treatment plant!
The staff are also great. We have stayed at private villas before and strongly believe the staff to be critical to your overall enjoyment - at Villa Biru the staff are superb, adapting effortlessly to the nature of the the guests they have. As we were two families, they lent a much needed hand with the kids, especially around meal times and left the adults to themselves (yet always there when needed). We also loved the meals they prepared and can't understand some of the negative comments on here about that. We especially loved the omlettes and fresh fruit every morning! Nothing is ever too much trouble and despite the luxury fit-out they made the kids feel very much welcome and at home.
Leaving was certainly the hardest part. We took solace, however, in knowing that we will be back next year for another stay (this time for a few extra days).
Well done to everyone behind this magnificent villa.
The Villa is also ideally situated, half way along the boardwalk from the main beach to playgrounds and close enough to 'The Deck' at Batu Karang that they'll bring you cocktails to the villa if you be especially nice to them!
a magical home away from home
Villa Biru is a beautiful villa with a stunning view over the harbour and surf breaks of Nusa Lembongan. It's staff are warm, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. They booked our restaurants, helped us hire surf boards, and took us on a motorcycle tour of the island. The menu is simple but delicious. The villa has it's own outrigger with a fabulous captain with great local knowledge. He took us to all the surf spots and also to snorkel with a dozen manta rays.
The best thing about Villa Biru is it feels like a stunning hotel as well as a family home. Our family had a lovely stay and will definitely return.
Outstanding in every way! Highly recommended.
We spent an idyllic week at Villa Biru. Everything about the experience was outstanding, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The villa itself is architecturally designed to the highest standards and has a breathtaking view over the ocean, two world class surf breaks and the volcano in the distance. The villa is perfectly situated near restaurants and bars, but is also quiet and totally private. The 3 staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They cooked good meals when we ate in, but mainly we ate out at the nearby restaurants. The villa was new and kept spotless. The villa has its own high quality water purification plant onsite, so you can drink even the tap and shower water. We will definitely be back.
Instant relaxation, Charming views, Gorgeous staff
We stayed at Villa Biru in mid-June and absolutely fell in love when we stepped foot inside this haven. As soon as we landed on the island a staff member was already waiting there for our arrival. The porters carried our luggage and the villa is only a short walk from the beach.
Once we reached the villa it was instant relaxation it is like being in your own little world. The views from each room is beyond magical, upstairs bathroom all I can say is wow nothing like having a shower and overlooking the ocean at the same time and not only that you don't need to worry about the water as it is all purified and drinkable.
The staff at Villa Biru are more than pleasant and very helpful they are willing to help you with anything that you need from hiring your bikes to making dinner reservations all without hesitation.
The villa had their own boat "MR tony" with a skipper for us to use at any time. He took us to prime locations for snorkelling absolutely amazing & free of charge.
If you are looking for a holiday for peace and relaxation this is where the sunbeds and pool come in once you lay down on one of these its instant lights out(well for me anyway)just lying there watching the surfers, parasailers and overlooking the ocean was absolutely awesome. The pool has its own little charm being able to drink cocktails or bintang in a prime position with the water flowing over the edge giving you a tranquil background noise.
There is nothing bad I can say about this place yes whilst we were there some construction was going on next door but I did not see this as an issue at all, hey where would everyone stay if no one is allowed to work and build these places for you and it won't be forever as they were close to completing when we left.
To sum this up it's an experience you need to have don't pass it up as you will regret it. We have been to Bali numerous times and never had the service & respect that the staff give you here.
Definitely worth the visit!!!
Amazing location, but construction next door
Villa Biru is beautiful. We knew it would be beautiful and we were still in awe about how beautiful it really was. It is located a 2 minute walk from where the fast boat drops you off. In low tide, the area in front of villa is amazing for rock pool life...sea slugs, blue starfish, sea urchins.
We were informed that there was no wifi at the villa but a laptop with an internet connection was available for guest use. Our phones connected to a Villa Biru wifi signal though and when I asked the staff about a password they said that the wifi was for the owners only. So of course knowing there was wifi and we were not allowed to use it made us feel a little upset. It was not a big issue though as there is wifi next door at a hotel that you can connect to if you order a drink :)
There is no curtain on a crucial part of the upstairs master bedroom. It is the first window pane as you come up from the stairs, so if someone wants to come get you, they look through this window. This was awkward when we first came because one of the female staff came up when my husband was changing into his swim trunks. Oops!
It is also the part where the morning sun comes streaming in. Morning sun is lovely, but having the option to sleep in after 6 am is just as lovely, especially on holiday.
Also there is construction going on next door. From around 8 am to early evening. This was a real disappointment since we wanted to get away from city sounds. What is more disappointing is that we were not forewarned. It is one thing to know of construction and still book a villa, and a completely different thing to expect tranquility and splashing waves and get rock-breaking and stone-sawing. It was incessant, but we learned to zone out. I also had ear plugs.
The staff at Villa Biru are lovely, but are not cooks. They make good local food but we were disappointed with everything else. For the price of the villa we expected better-trained staff and a chef.
Lovely lovely villa, but with a few issues.
Response from Villa Mawar - 06/21/2013
Thank you for your positive criticisms and observations regarding your stay at Villa Biru.
I will endeavour to answer each of your views individually.
WIFI - We have paid for and had installed 3 installations, all of which ultimately failed. Our last one which registered on your Iphone settings was a disaster and was still alive due to a forward contract, but unused, hence the appearance of Villa Biru on your IPhone. We told the staff not to release a password to this to avoid disappointment. Their explanation was incorrect and possibly a language difficulty between us. You will be pleased to know that the Government Telco, Telkom have today installed a huge satellite dish to the island and yesterday we were one of the first to connect. All looks good on this front, Villa Biru has WIFI.
The curtain issue whilst not having been bought up by approximately 10 previous guests, we see as an issue and quite an important one, and we thank you for this observation and will have that changed in time for our next guests on Friday. We have asked our builder to replace some glass louvers for timber to enhance privacy for bedroom 4.
Villa construction next door. I can only be honest and say it was an issue we never even thought of and we agree this is remiss and understand how it could be unsettling. We were previously assured that it would be finished, all but the painting, however, that was not the case and we sincerely apologise.
Trained Chef. There are only three on the island and many more who are cooks and call themselves chef’s.
We established a simple local style menu which our local girls are trained to prepare but once they are asked to cook outside that range it is a big problem. We request people to stay within our set menu.
We always felt that being surrounded by restaurants within walking distance, would offer variation that would perhaps complement and suffice. Our staff are not chefs but are capable of preparing tasty simple meals.
Villa Biru does not boast sophisticated dining nor is it likely to get to that stage, but your letter demonstrates that we have achieved our original aim and that is to give Nusa Lembongan its most spectacular and stunning beach house with all that entails.
Did our staff show you the water treatment plant, the Islands best and most expensive which produces continuous high quality drinking water to all points including showers. No other Villa can boast this, and in fact on Bali, we have been told that our other Villa, Villa Mawar which has the same equipment, is probably the only mainland installation of this quality.
On a high note, we hope you enjoyed the Villa boating experiences, we are not aware of any other Villa on the Island that has its own boat, 30m from the villa and on call, with our qualified skipper at no cost. The staff told me that you used it 3 days out of 4 stayed so, we can only assume it was appreciated. We hope the boys are able to save some of their new surfing skills.
Thank you Salam. The lovely and decent manner in which you have presented your views is really appreciated and we will act decisively on all the issues. We look forward to having you stay with us again at Villa Biru.

A dream holiday
My wife and I have been long term Bali lovers, the last 3 years staying at the same Villa in Canggu.
Our two teenage kids talked us into a day trip to the surfing Island of Nusa Lembongan.
We loved everything about the island and noticed what looked like a superb Villa being built right in the middle of the main bay, where all the action is, and right opposite the main surf breaks..
We took a sneak look through and we were stunned.
The builders foreman gave us a contact to the australian owners and we ultimately became one of the first families to stay at Villa Biru
We were slightly hesitant when we booked because we felt it was expensive but having had our sneak preview, we thought, why not.
The beautiful staff met us on the beach as we arrived, and walked us up to the Villa which is right on the waters edge, and has its own jetty.
As we walked through the entrance, we were amazed of the incredibly beautiful
vista over the huge infinity pool which seamlessly joins the ocean in the same colour as the azure tropical waters.
It soon became evident that this was the best Villa on the island and we felt very privileged to be there.
We have looked at many villas during our many stays at Bali, and can't remember seeing one that took your breath away as does Villa Biru.
We had friend's day trip over from Bali and when they came to the villa, their reaction was the same as ours.
When they heard that Biru had its own traditional ( twin Yamaha ) outrigger boat and professional skipper on standby for surf safari's, picnics and swimming, snorkeling trips at no cost, they were totally impressed.
V Biru from sunset cocktails until bedtime, is a fairyland.
The staff, fantastic. They booked our motorbike hire, restaurants and looked after us like royalty!
The island and all its activities( no cars ) its beachfront restaurants and vibrant energy were just what we needed and the location of the villa was at the heart of everything.
Our best Bali holiday yet.

From the moment I set foot into Villa I was completely breathtaken by everything I saw. The friendly faces of the staff who warmly greeted us was a lovely start to our holiday. The panoramic views across the crystal blue ocean immediately instilled a complete feeling of relaxation. The decor is simply stunning, with a fresh, 'beachy' feel throughout the villa. The rooms are inviting & very comfortable & the outdoor bathrooms - in particular the showers are magnificent. There were so many exciting things to do during the day, with one of the highlights being snorkeling amongst the flourescent coral and tropical fish in crystal bay. Nusa Lembongan has a lovely island village
atmosphere, which is most appealing for a relaxing holiday. Lying by the pool watching surfers at some of the many well know breaks during the day seemed a wonderful way to spend some lazy time! Cocktails at sunset in the bale by the infinity pool was utterly devine. Our holiday at Villa Biru was everything we ever dreamt of & much, much more. We can't wait to go back again in the near future.
Staying at Villa Biru made me feel like a celebrity! It is truly amazing!
From the moment we arrived on the ferry I knew we had made the right choice! The two girls who work at the Villa were waiting for us on the beach and arranged for our bags to be carried to the Villa. Just a short walk from the ferry and we had arrived in paradise!
When we walked in we were blown away, the view is breathtaking! The bedrooms and outdoor bathrooms are gorgeous, not a single thing forgotten! We were lucky enough to get to stay in the master bedroom. Every morning we would wake up and from the comfort of our bed we looked onto the pool and the ocean - absolutely stunning!
The best way to start the day was to dive into the beautiful infinity pool where you could look out over the ocean and see the happenings of the island. The two girls working there were just gorgeous! They would make us coffee while we cooled off in the pool and then prepare a fully cooked breakfast to get us going for the day!
We spent our days stand up paddle boarding, hiring scooters to explore the island and taking out Mr Tony to some magical snorkelling spots. The girls even packed us a delicious picnic lunch so we pulled up at Crystal Bay and sat on the beautiful beach by the coconut palms and had a picnic lunch.
Everything was arranged for us which took the stress out of organising anything and meant we could truly relax and enjoy our holiday.
The Villa is also perfect for pure relaxation. I thoroughly enjoyed laying by the pool with my book looking out over the ocean.
We can't wait to return to Villa Biru and would recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious getaway in a one of a kind private villa!
