Sandpiper Haven is a charming two bedroom, two bath, single story, low bank waterfront house located on world famous Penn Cove, Whidbey Island, with direct beach access , phenomenal views , a great deck, nearby boat launch, and much much more. Conveniently located between Coupeville and Oak Harbor, enjoy fabulous VIEWS south across Penn Cove of the Olympic Mountains and Coupville, and east of the Cascades! With annual rainfall of just over 21 inches, nearly half of the regional rainfall, you can enjoy being in the rainshadow of Whidbey Island.

Sandpiper Haven is really 'Heaven' to us - we love the beauty, peace, and comfort of this beautiful home on tranquil Penn Cove. We enjoy the quick access to the beach where our boys spend hours trolling the beach in search of rare blue beach glass or "treasure". We are actually part of the historic Ebey's National Reserve and our home was built on shell midden so we feel really "embedded" in the history of the area. We never tire of clamming, crabbing, or fishing (during the seasons).
Sometimes we choose to just simply relax and do puzzles, play games, read books, and enjoy eachother's company. Other times, we just sit on the expansive deck viewing wildlife such as the bald eagle that perches on the nearby pier, or the Kingfisher (bird) hovering right out front hunting for fish the other day (and diving for them)! Resident seals and otters swim by and send us curious stares. And then there are all the great parks and beaches to explore nearby. Deception Pass will take your breath away. A short 10 minute drive to Coupeville is always rewarded with ice cream for the kids at their fabulous ice cream parlor, Kapaw's - $3 for 3 scoops on a waffle cone - yum! Where can you find that?

The owners of this property have truly thought about everything to make your stay stress free. We rented this wonderful cottage for 6 days in February instead of staying at a local inn for a wedding. The location was perfect for getting around to everything on the island. In truth, even though the island is beautiful, I could have spent the entire stay curled up on the couch with the gas fireplace keeping me warm, staring at the beautiful views! This is a great place for families, girls weekend away or a romantic retreat! We will definitely be making a return trip (even in the winter).

This was my 1st time to Sandpiper Haven, what a joy it was. I had planned a girls weekend with a few of my highschool friends from 20 yrs ago just to relax, take time away from parenthood, work and just to enjoy eachother again. I couldn't think of a better place to do just that. We sat around the cozy fireplace just chit chatting about old times, cooked some food together in the kitchen which has everything we needed. The owners really thought of everything and it shows. The environment was spectacular and what a gorgeous view. It was cold & windy when we were there but that didn't stop us from going down to the water to get a few pictures (which is roughly 30 steps down from the back area). I would recommend Sandpiper Haven to anyone and we are already talking about making this an annual trip for us!

I attended a girls' getaway weekend here and had the most wonderful experience! The place is truly a haven...it's cozy, comfortable and with a splendid front-row view of the water and beach and mountains. It's got everything we needed to relax... a well-appointed kitchen, laundry room, and cozy and comfortable beds. Whether we wanted to curl up and read all weekend or go out to enjoy the nearby restaurants and other sites, we all found just what we needed at this house. The owners seem to have thought of everything. Will definitely stay here again!

Visited Sandpiper Haven for a girls weekend. The weather in Seattle was terrible: rainy, snowy. When we got the beach house, the weather was sunny! I actually got a sun-burned on my face that afternoon. I learned that Penn Cove is in a "rain shadow" which was great news for our retreat. The house itself is modern, up to date with all the amenities: wi fi and wide screen TV. large kitchen with all the appliances/necessities for cooking - even a blender for margaritas! The beds were very comfortable - excellent for napping and refreshing nights' sleep. Beautiful south-facing view - could see Cascades and olympics from living room and spacious deck. Looking forward to visiting again! thank you, Mattson family!

We had a delightful time at Sandpiper Haven. The view is spectacular and the beach is fascinating with clam digging a highlight. The owners have furnished with the home with everything one could desire and it is sooo comfortable and clean. We loved the outdoor firepit and cooked marshmallows and S'mores almost every evening. It was our first visit but it won't be our last! Thank you.

This is our second time here! Thanks to the great location and accommodations! we enjoyed every day we were here , for a week. Thanks Julie and Pete we will come back for a third time! There's so much to see and do and I was a little worried bringing our 3 teenage sons , they get bored easily, but they loved the kayaking, biking and hiking as much as sitting on the deck and watching wildlife. It was perfect.
