Left on 08/15/2013 for a stay in June 2013 | Workman
My husband and I rented this house because it was "event friendly". Our daughter was married. Number one: the house had not been cleaned before arrival time of 3pm 6/15/2013. The owner used a private house cleaning service, according to OIa. We had to be showered and dressed for a wedding event by 5pm. This was only the start. Number two: Monday night the fire alarms went off. Had to call 911. By the way, this happened an additional three times that same night. Upon inspection by the fire department, they found out the elevator wasn't usable and told us that the owner should have posted signs on the doors to the elevator and locked the doors. Needless to say, this had not been done and the elevator was used the night of the wedding reception. Firemen found on the top level that when you opened the door to the elevator, the elevator wasn't there! It was down in the garage area. This could have been fatal, as we had young children and elderly at the house. Nontheless, the parents were mad and the elderly were lucky. Number three: The air conditioner didn't work on the first floor. The closet where the return was located was opened and a towel and bucket was on the floor. The floor was wet and had buckled because of the water damage. The carpet into one of the bedrooms had a stain and was wet and moldy. No one could use the room because of this. I forgot to mention that exposed wires were hanging out of the return. This could have caused a fire or injured an individual. We called OIa and made them aware of these issues from the time we got there on 6/15. Repairmen came to look at the a/c units and told us that the owner, which lives in Chicago hoped the units would last through the summer. The owner called the house and I just happened to be there and she told me that she had a showing on the Friday of our week and that we needed to leave to accommodate these individuals. How dare her to interrupt our vacation. This was no vacation!! I have pictures of all of this!
