Description from the manager
Papa Bear is a lovely home that will make you want to stay in the story forever. You will love relaxing in nicely decorated master suites and bedrooms. One room even overlooks the great room and windows are abundant throughout the house. The kitchen and dining room provide plenty of seating for the whole party. Also in the family room you can either join in on a game of foosball or watch the kids play and enjoy the fire and your favorite tv show. Don't forget the hot tub and the view. Papa Bear is very centrally located and only minutes from the Wisp resort, shopping, and restaurants.

Papa Bear was even nicer than the photos displayed. Everything was very clean and the rooms were a very nice size. No complaints and in another two years we all hope to spend another week at Papa Bear.

Great house. Well appointed. Good location. Kitchen/dining area is huge. Only issue overall was temperature regulation. Never found a thermostat on the ground level. With the gas fireplace on it would rise to 80. With it off it would drop eventually to 60.

Left on 02/10/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We come from Baltimore every year in January and spend a week in a rental. Papa Bear has everything we need and more. There is plenty of room and all the amentities we want. Papa Bear is convenient to anything we want to do while vacationing at DCL. The driveway entrance was plowed quickly for our safety. Thanks!

The Gural Family
Ocean City MDPapa Bear was a lovely home in a great location.
Left on 01/16/2011 for a stay in December 2010
Beautifully decorated and spacious. It easily accomodated our family of 14. The view of the lake was spectacular. There were a few issues, though. The hot tub was not in working order which was disappointing. Some of the beds were uncomfortable. One of the bedrooms on the top floor was noisy and very warm when the fireplace was on. The pullout couch in the basement master was broken (fine for kids but certainly not for adults). Despite these issues we enjoyed our stay. We appreciated the good customer service that Railey provided.

Baltimore, MDGreat house , wrong spot
Left on 08/12/2010 for a stay in August 2010
Papa Bear is a beautifully decorated home with plenty of room for a big crowd. We had 6 people (4 adults and 2 teenagers), and actuallty had more than enough room. The house is well equipped and has plenty of bathrooms - even has shower seats in two of the showers (one on main floor and one in lower level master bath) that came in very handy for both myself (with a recent hip replacement) and my elderly mom. One drawback is the fact that you have to walk up several steps on the back of the house to get into the kitchen door - the railing there is very loose, and presented some problems for handicapped access. If you enter on the lower level, after parking outside that door, you also have to climb a lot of stairs to get onto the main floor of the home. We were able to handle it, but it wasn't easy for my 80+ year old mother or for myself (3 months post hip replacement). Another big drawback is the fact that this home is so close to the major highway (Rte 219). All day long the noise of trucks, motorcycles, cars, etc. distracted from the lovely setting otherwise. A large expansive deck overlooks the lake, but the view is broken by the traffic of the highway as well. We had two terrible nights with neighbors renting a private rental home next to us and partying very loudle until after 3:00 a.m. We had to call the police on the second night when they wouldn't quiet down after being asked nicely several times to do so and after listening to their foul language repeatedly. The final straw came when they rang our doorbell at 4:00 a.m. Great house but poor location!

Really nice property. Well appointed. The only thing that could have been better is the weather. Rained the whole weekend.

Takoma Park, MarylandWhat a wonderful experience!
Left on 10/15/2009 for a stay in August 2009
There is only wonderful things I can say about this place. I mean, in every
aspect. First there is the lake, its absolutely gorgeous, full of energy and
fresh clean air and plenty of water to submerge every dream and activity. Its
a heaven from city life, for me, its grown to be kind of a sanctuary. Then
there is the house, clean, spacious, with a great view, comfortable, I can go
on. We make BBQs, laugh, relax, play board games, away from city night
clubs and bars; this is the place to encounter real friendships. Nothing like a
relaxing conversation in the hot tub after a day of water skiing. The pictures
you bring home are frame material, and everyone talks about the weekend
for weeks. Then there is the people at Railey Mtn Lake, wonderful people,
always with a smile. I visit many times during the year and every time I have
felt so welcomed, its like I am a distant relative they are happy to see.
I just love it, what else can I say.

Pittsburgh, PAGreat Reunion House for all ages
Left on 10/14/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We rented the house as a mini Family Vacation because Deep Creek was centrally located between Pittsburgh, DC and Columbus, OH. I had a 10 month old daughter and the house was very baby proofed. The stairs could be closed off, so she was free to roam safely on the main level. We had great views of the lake from the front deck and spent hours playing games in the large flat backyard. I only have two complaints: 1) the master bedroom, while large and comfortable, was dark and musty smelling. We really felt like we were sleeping in a basement. 2) the kitchen was fully equipped except cooking knives. Luckily my sister was coming in a few days after us or we would have had a lot of trouble making dinner every night.
We loved the bright colors and tons of natural light in the home. It felt very clean (except master bedroom) and we were comfortable even with our big group.
