BaltimoreA great place for a family trip
Left on 09/23/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We spent a long weekend at Lakeside Dreamery with 3 families (6 adults, 6 kids) and we were very pleased with the accommodations. The bunk-bed bedroom slept all 6 kids and they loved that. We enjoyed fishing and kayaking off the pier and making s'mores in the fireplace. The kitchen with the long island was perfect for feeding a crowd. The house was nicely equipped with games, movies, towels, etc. However we did notice a lot of dust...looked like it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in a while.

The house and amenities were wonderfull. The location was great. The only issue we had was parking. There is plenty of room for two vehicles on an upper parking area but with a boat trailer and several cars in our group we needed to park on the narrow, unpaved, steep driveway. If you only need two parking spots there is no issue at all.

PittsburghGreat house, great location, too bad it's for sale
Left on 08/23/2011 for a stay in August 2011
This was the third time we rented this house and it was evident that the house is for sale. The house was in need of a good cleaning, mold in the showers, bugs in the window sills, cobwebs in a number of places, some debris on the carpets. About a fourth of the light bulbs in the house were burnt out. Half of the dock is tilted at enough of an angle as to make it difficul to stand on. The grill was a mess, rusty and the grates were caked with enough grease that it took about 20 minutes to burn off.

Upper Marlboro, MDBest vacation ever!
Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We had a wonderful time in Deep Creek. The house was extremely comfortable and well appointed. The location was good too. We travelled with our four adult children, son-in-law, and grand daughter. My only complaint was the hot water. There was some notes in the binder about it, but that did not work for us. It was either too hot or too cold and very difficult to adjust, in both showers. Other than that, everything was the perfect! I was very impressed with how well the kitched was "stocked" with regards to utensils, pots, pans, etc. We cooked dinner at the house almost every night and it was a pleasure. The house was convenient to all activities. The dock was very convenient, but could have used a ladder to climb in and out of the water. I would, and already have, recommended this house to my friends for future vacations.

West VirginiaRelaxing week at Deep Creek, overall!

Lakeside Dreamery was a nice vacation home. We enjoyed the kitchen/great room area the most--open feel, modern appliances. The bedroom part of the house was a remodel of a 1945 cabin. The master bedroom was nice, but no attached bathroom. The other bedrooms were adequate, but were dark and had an "old cabin" smell. Same way with the lower level rec room. Only 2 bathrooms in the house--not enough when advertised as a 12 person home. Hot/cold water was an issue. Tankless hot water system provided scalding water one minute and icy cold water the next. Outside deck, outside fireplace, and dock were very nice. Outside landscaping, lighting, hot tub and gas grill left something to be desired. Road noise from Garrett Highway at night.

Buckhannon, WVDisappointed from the very beginning!
Left on 06/16/2011 for a stay in June 2011
After vacationing in the area on the mountain the year before, we thought we would change things alittle this year by staying on the lake itself. After looking at the various rental units from the agency we used the year before and couldn't find one that fit our needs, we decided on one from Long & Foster. Right from the beginning of the online rental process we started having issues. Placed the reservation on March 11th and was directed to wait for confirmation from a L&F; agent. After waiting a month to be contacted, I called the agency. At that time they still could not confirm my reservation and told me to call them back in a couple of days to make sure the owner would approve of four night stay (even though the website showed that it would). I called back the next week and finally got a confirmation, but the price had increased by a few hundred dollars from what the online reservation stated. The agent told me they would email me the contracts and related paperwork. A week later, I still did not have this information. I called back and talked to a different person. He sent me some of the paperwork, but not all of it. After another couple of weeks of waiting and frustration, I finally spoke with Sheila who was wonderful. She got everything finally taken care of on the paperwork side. When our vacation finally arrived and we got to the house, I couldn't believe it! Not in a good way either!! The house was covered with spiderwebs and spiders. The countertops were dusty. The sheets/pillows on the beds were very musty smelling. Some of the electronics did not work (DVD players, VCR). The showers didn't stay hot at all. The "game room" didn't have the ball for the game table and the darts were not there for the dart board. The "air conditioning" that was stated in the listing was one window unit. I think the listing for the house totally overstates what this house is. The view is wonderful and the yard is nice, but not for the price!

The house was lovely and the view spectacular. The rooms were clean and accommodating. Parking situation could be better, but still not a major issue. A stereo system of some kind would be nice, but still not a major issue since we had a docking station and iPod.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. -

Place was beautiful with an awesome view. The hotwater went out on Saturday afternoon but they had someone out to fix it in a reasonable time. My only complaint is that I didn't catch any fish!
