If you are just sleeping and eating in this house, and then headed out for a full day of whatever, then read no further, get this house, and don't worry about it. For some things, it's perfectly fine. Nice huge windows, a partially obscured view of the lake, (just a lot of trees in most of the way). Built on the side of a hill, nice and steep.
The bedrooms are all fine, there were not a lot of bugs, no weird smells, etc. The back porch was awesome, nice and wide with a well-used grill. Nice hot tub. At&t; phones didn't work very well, signal-wise. No phone calls, but you can text if you get on the wifi. Verizon phones worked much better.
The road up to it is kind of odd, you turn onto a dirt road (with water running across in our case), and as you are bouncing along for just a couple minutes over some tiny streams and large holes in the dirt/gravel road, you see what they said about a 4x4 is probably necessary for winter weather. Some older local properties appear, including three abandoned motor homes (front doors still wide open). Then just as suddenly, the nice-looking Fir Shore house pops into view.
As I said, if you are just using this as base camp, it's great. However, we were there for just four days, and we had more than a full day of rain. We were indoors for quite a bit, and had to deal with the creature comforts on a more regular basis. Just to address the things I thought were more on the cons side, looking at some of the selling points from the above:
"The overstocked kitchen boasts a large counter & plenty of cabinet space, ideal for the chef in the family."
The chef in the family would be saying "bring our own stuff next time!" The counter was roomy, cabinets were indeed plentiful. The utensils and pots/pans were interesting, they have obviously been heavily used. Not many would actually stay flat on the stove, so it took some balancing. Knives were okay, they eventually cut through items. There were about 4 actual glasses, everything else was a mix of plastic green cups and some coffee mugs. Which is totally fine, but you will be pouring the occasional beer or wine into a cow coffee mug.
"Gather...in the spectacular Great Room, as you marvel at the amazing beauty that nature offers just outside of the open windows."
We had running joke where we tried to make people accidentally sit on one particular couch, and see who had the best reaction as they sank almost all of the way through it. The furniture padding is so worn down that we had to gather all of the pillows to use as back supports. It's all fine, just very, very well-used.
The TV is not centered in the room over the fireplace, instead it's pushed directly up against a wall. The laminated home theater instructions were several pages long, fortunately we just had the Tv-only need for a couple of Caps games. Nice DirecTV signal, noticed that it included Starz and HBO. Three DVD players, for some reason, and the whole system was connected to speakers in most of the bedrooms, controlled via complex switches that we never bothered with.
The picture of the table shows 6 chairs around the table. We had four chairs, one about to completely break, and two benches, which were comfy for about 10 minutes. Some cracks in the tile on the floor, again, just a place showing its internal age, which I'm sure comes with the territory for heavily used places like this.
"Rainy days are the perfect excuse to hang out in the lower level Family Room playing a rousing game of billiards or a foosball game."
The pool table is very nice. The foosball table is simply worn out, surface is uneven, and sometimes you turn on the grip and your guys catch up a few seconds later.
One last note, basement was 10 degrees colder than the mid-level, and top level was ten degrees warmer. I'm sure it goes with the territory, so we just made sure people who liked it one way or the other took the room that would satisfy them.
If I heard we would be here again, no problem. I gave it 4 stars (though would give it 3.5 if possible). It did its job, but I wanted to write this review to let pickier people out there have a bit more info instead of just "great place!" -

The wifi didn't end up working when we arrived, but they offered to send somebody out. Also the amenities on the site were not fully updated to reflect the type of grill etc

We had a very good stay at the property. the management was very helpful in getting connection to the internet and getting the toilet fixed. One issue we had was that the basement area had a peculiar odour.
The kicthen was very well supplied and all the cleaning supplies were available. all in all a very pleasant stay. -
