  great but not perfect

  Railey was great, all around. The water pressure was poor and made for very long showers, just to rinse off. I realize the owner needs a closet but the master closet? We had to use the smelly foyer closet for our cloths. The owner should not put his convience above the guest. The older, rough blankets should be replaced. No one wanted them to touch their skin. Lastly the upstairs was much warmer. The aC could be better balanced

  Three things detracted from the experience. First, we paid extra for home with upgraded facilities, including kitchen. The dinner ware, glassware, silverware, et al, were Wal-Mart standard. Stove had too few burners that worked for proper cooking for family of seven. Second, the beach area was more like a mudhole than a proper beach. Water along the shore line was muddy all the time. Water adjacent to the dock was overgrown with water grass. Third, the septic tank overflowed and the overflow drained into the beach area, making the area unsanitary, unsafe for swimming. The overflow was reported as soon as we understood from where the odor was coming. Someone came to investigate quickly but it was too late to prevent contaminating the beach area. Should not have happened.

  Almost there!

  My family stayed at Harmony in Sept. 2007 and again in Sept. 2008. After the 1st stay, we let the Realtor know about some issues that needed tending to: place was not vacuumed thoroughly, broken picture in upstairs bedroom closet with glass on floor of closet, broken shades in Pool Room that wouldn't close all the way (preventing privacy and making it awkward to sleep in that room), and dead flies ALL OVER the floor in Pool Room.
  We re-rented Harmony for the same week the following year because, other than those issues, we loved the house and location! And....the realtor told us those issues would not happen again.
  We called ahead of our Sept. 2008 arrival to remind them of the issue we'd had and to ensure they were taken care of. We were assured they were! They were NOT. The broken picture AND shards of glass were still in the bedroom closet! The place had not been throughly vacuumed! The Pool Room shades were broken even further and broken pieces were lying around on the fly covered floor. The previous visitors dirty laundry lay in a mountainous heap on our doorstep until the day before we left. We called numerous times to report these things but no one ever did anything about any of it. Additionally, the place needed some interior paint where walls had been badly scratched and bumped - just had an unclean look.
  We were very sad - becasue, as I said, we loved the house and the location. So, we did not re-rent Harmony this past year. We would consider it for next year if we were compensated for our aggravation and for having paid so much without receiving fairness in return. We would have to be ASSURED in WRITING that the necessary changes, repairs,etc. were correced. We miss Harmony and would love to come back. We have many nice memories of Deep Creek Lake associated with our stay there.

  You need to visit Deep Creek in the Fall!

  Me an a few family and friends rented Harmony wanting to get out on the water one last time before the cold came. The weather was pretty nice and the scenery was great! We put the boats in the water on friday and did not pull them out until late sunday. We had a great time on the water and in the house. Sitting around the fire and sharing a few laughs and beverages! I would recommend this house and location to anyone. The only thing that disappointed was the dock was to shallow to use at the current property so had to dock elsewhere. Also some minor things broken in the home that could easily been replaced or fixed. Overall a great weekend, and will be back down next year!

  Thank you for staying with us and leaving your feedback on your vacation at Harmony. We apologize that you found several minor items in the house broken. Our housekeeping and inspection staff is dedicated to finding and reporting any repairs that may be needed - no matter how small. The water level at the lake is lowered in the fall, resulting in shallow water conditions for some properties. We are glad to hear despite these minor inconveniences that you enjoyed your vacation, and we look forward to seeing you again!
