Pittsburgh, PABreathtaking View!
Left on 06/15/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We had a wonderful week stay at Peregrine's Perch. Our group included an 84-year old, eight 18 year olds, parents, cousins and neighbors.
The pros:
The house accommodated everyone perfectly. The amount of bedrooms and bathrooms were just right. You could have some "alone time" if needed or spend your day with the group.
The pool and the hot tub were wonderful. The boys also enjoyed the pool table and poker table.
The kitchen was a cooks dream. Anything you needed was right there are your fingertips.
The view when you walked into the house was simply amazing. The furnishings were upscale but comfortable. The pool was serviced daily by very friendly employees.
Our first night there a bear got into the overflow garbage left by the previous renters and Railey came right away to clean it up when I called. The employee who had to clean it up was very nice considering the circumstances.
The cons:
Problems with the washer. They ask you not to wash more than 5 towels per load or the washer will overflow. I washed 3 small towels and water started to leak so we had to stop in mid-wash and rarely used it after that.
Many of the screen doors were broken (reported to the rental company) so they either slammed shut each time you went in or out (the kitchen door) or you couldn't use it at all (master bedroom door).
If you have allergies to stinging/biting insects (as I do) I would say be careful if you stay at this house. Understandably you are in the woods, but there were many black spiders in the house so beware. I found two in the bed of the master bedroom on the main floor the first day that I was there, so I slept on the couch in the living room for the remainder of my stay. The spiders were in all rooms of the house and one that we found in the downstairs family room was bigger than any that I had ever seen.
Recommendations to the owner:
A firepit would be a wonderful addition to the house (outside of the pool house would be perfect).
A few more cleaning items would be nice: bucket, dust pan. The floors in the kitchen and living room were sticky upon arrival and I would have mopped them if I had the proper supplies.
There is a large black bear who visits quite a few times per day (the lady next door feeds her) so be careful as she does wander onto the property - even walking across the lower deck one night while we were standing on the upper deck). The fox family visits at night as well; beautiful to admire from afar. -

Weve stayed at this property multiple times and it still amazes us how much of a great time we have with a house full of amenities. You almost never have to leave with all the things to do.

Service:
The service from the rental people was haphazard. They could not find my electronic contract and continued to blame me, and they were often unclear when answering questions about upcoming openings. I asked for a little extra help during my trip up, and I didn't get it. They were friendly, but not effectively helpful.
Service from Maintenance was completely outstanding. They were very attentive and willing to help.
Property:
We love Peregrine's Perch. The amenities are very nice and generally work great. So happy to have a real steam room, and the pool is nice and warm. The house is very comfortable and decorated nicely. Beautiful relaxing pool house. The pool alarm isn't as annoying as some properties (the ones with the voice).
It's a little confusing to find up the hill, but once you do - wow the view is worth it! Truly incredible.
Improvements:
We usually come in a large group of adults, so a 2nd hot tub (indoor or out) would really make this a truly ideal place.
I wish they would add full curtains to the windows in all the bedrooms. There is no reason I should have to wake with the sun on my vacation. They should put up something to block the light for those of us who want to sleep in on our day off! If you're staying here, bring a sleep mask.
A fire pit would rock! Imagine the view next to an outdoor fire. I hope they think of adding one.
There are a few issues:
Beware of the clothes washer. We've had problems on both of our trips (a year apart) and the maintenance team said it has had ongoing problems. If it isn't replaced soon, water damage will cause big problems.
The house sleeps 16 adults comfortably (two per room) but can hold more only if you include fold-out chair and sofa beds. If you have kids, I suggest put them in the suite above the garage - it has two big beds, a chair-bed, and a sofa bed and is quiet and away from the rest of the house. -

I plan a fall trip to the Deep Creek area every year for my extended group of friends, and this was our second time staying at Peregrine's Perch. The house itself is beautiful and very spacious, but on both occasions we ran into maintenance issues that affected our stay. Our first trip found the pool heater to be broken along with one of the couches/sofa beds. This time the heater for the indoor pool broke again, making the pool unuseable, and the under-sink ice maker broke and melted all of the ice in the house (neither standing freezer makes ice). In both cases Railey provided me with a refund for the loss of amenities, but our group is seriously considering not using this property in the future.

Wilmington, DEPhenomenal House with amazing View
Left on 08/27/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We had a wonderful week and shared great family time with three generations of Callaghans in a fantastic house. The sun rise over the lake was a great start to most of the days and watching a young bear down the hill was exciting. The only drawback for the week was the absence of trash pickup except when Railey took away the overflow. The staff was friendly and helpful and our first visit to Deep Creek Lake was overall a memorable experience. As grandparents of the group, we had a wonderful vacation.

Very impressive in all aspects. The house has great views as advertised, All ammenitites as listed, pool, whirlpool, sauna. The house was well stocked with cook ware and appliances. Great kitchen. Rooms are very nice. Perfect house for a large gathering. We enjoyed being able to seat 16 people together at dinner. Lots of spaces to gather.
Bedrooms are spacious with nice bathrooms and most with views. The two bedroom suite over the garage is the perfect place for the teenagers as it is a little remote.
Service was very efficient and responses to any issues were very prompt.
Nothing but good things to say about the house, the area and the service. -

Youngstown, OhioA Little Piece of Heaven at Deep Creek
Left on 07/08/2010 for a stay in June 2010
Our whole family was there to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and we all enjoyed our whole stay. The view is beautiful, the home was all we could ask for and more and of course the Deep Creek area has much to offer all ages. The only problem we had was the bears getting into the trash even though we took precautions to try to see that they did not. We understood that the lady next door feeds them...not a good thing.

We rented the house for the marriage of our daughter. Everyone loved the house! The view of the lake is spectacular, even though we had overcast skies while there! We had 22 people staying there - two separate families and found it to be spacious enough for all of us to be there, yet not so overwhelming that it wasn't comfortable.
We loved it! Highly recommend it. -

My entire family (parents, siblings and their children, totally 20) took a vacation in celebration of our parent's 50th wedding anniversary and Peregrine's Perch was te PERFECT house. These accommodations suited all of our needs. Each family had enough space and privacy in the large-sized suites, yet the HUGE dining table eabled everyone to enjoy dining together at meal times. The pool and hot tub were key along with all of the other numerous forms of entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to another visit soon!

Boulder HeightsKeim Family Review
Left on 10/16/2009 for a stay in July 2009
We had a very rainy week and at times were frustrated with the weather and the house. The main floor TV did not work and we called and went to the office more than one time about it. After pushing the issue they finally brought another TV. Excuses were made and we really considered going to another location next year. We had several young children to entertain and we were disappointed with the service from the office. The kitchen also had a major problem with ants. Since we did spend time with food preparation the ants were very annoying. We know we will not be returning to this house. In order to compromise, the office told us that they will consider this when we schedule for next year, but nothing was ever mentioned again about that promise made to some of our family members.

We had 17 people staying in this house, there were 5 young kids, the pool was a life saver and kept extremely clean, the safety mechanism in place was such a help as 2 of the boys were autistic. We had plenty of space to sleep, watch TV, play games and eat. Loved the 2 dishwashers and we had family meals every night at the terrific table! The kids all want to go back. The kitchen was well stocked with silverware, dishes, pots, anything you could think of. The view was too beautiful for words.
