Extended family organizer
Northern VAGreat house/location for extended family.
Left on 10/22/2010 for a stay in October 2010
House was a good size; close proximity to route 219 made it easy to come/go without getting lost. Size of home and many baths helped it "work" for extended family. Ability to bring dogs for an additional fee as also very helpful.

Frustrated
Pittsburgh, PASomewhat Disappointing
Left on 09/22/2010 for a stay in September 2010
After spending much time looking time for the right house to accomodate the number of people and amenities we needed, it was frustrating to finally make it and realize that two major items listed as amenties were not there. The house notes that there are wide screen televisions.
First off, the tv in the living room was the size of a computer monitor, 20 inches at most. Secondly, there was no cable. For anyone who is traveling with people that watch college football, you can imagine the anger and frustration that arose when we had no cable. On top of that, they couldn't send anyone to look at it and in return offered us Dvds. Obviously not a sufficient solution to people who wanted to watch football.
The other item listed as having been included was a Stereo/CD/Cassette player. So, not only did the cable not work, there was not even a stereo or CD player in the house!
Beyond these issue above, there was also a wedding at one of the other houses in the area. We were unable to use the boat docs because the wedding was on them. It would have been nice to know this prior to booking the house as this was a significant inconvenience given we had a boat.
Needless to say, for the amount of money the house cost, it was extremely frustrating and disppointing to have this occur. The people in our group felt like they paid money for this trip, and wanted to leave the first morning when there was no cable.Response from Railey Mountain Lake Vacations - 09/22/2010

Manager
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback about your stay. We apologize the cable was not functioning during your stay. A technical problem occurred that could only be repaired by a certified cable technician; unfortunately this was beyond our control. We were more than happy to put a discount on the cost of your reservation for this inconvenience.
In your review you made note of several missing amenities. The amenities listed in the brochure are subject to change, as owners continually update appliances and electronics. The CD/Cassette was replaced in favor of a DVD surround sound system that also plays CDs.
Neither the brochure nor the website lists that Quality Time is equipped with widescreen televisions. Both the brochure and website list this home as having TVs with basic cable only.
Additionally, this home does not have access to a dock slip, as this is not an amenity indicated on the website or the print brochure. When in doubt about the features of a home, please check the amenities list on our website as we update our online listings when we are made aware of changes.
We are sorry that this experience was less than you had hoped for during your vacation, but hope that you would consider staying with us again. Our reservations staff is very familiar with our homes, and can answer any questions you may have during the booking process.

Last minute travellers
Arlington, VaOur family had a peaceful enjoyable stay at DCL
Left on 09/16/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We booked a very last minute Labor Day weekend trip for 4 adults and 3 elementary aged children. There was plenty of space for the kids to play upstairs while the adults could relax downstairs. The dinning room table was great for the whole crew to eat. Kids loved the hot tub. Cable was out durning our entire visit but in the end that was kind of okay. It would be helpful if there were instruction specific to the property instead of the general Railey Homes book. We would surely visit again.
