New YorkGorgeous, quiet, spacious, home.
Left on 02/17/2013 for a stay in November 2012
Casa Loma Linda is a beautiful, spacious, and comfortable home with a gorgeous view of Oaxaca City and the Valles Centrales. There are all the amenities and appliances one could need, plus a small food shop just a few steps from the driveway. It's very quiet day and night, up and away from the busy streets of the city center. A taxi to the Zocalo is a few dollars at most. Alternatively, fit travelers can walk up and down the hill and catch the local bus for just a few pesos.
There is also a lovely garden and, if Tamara is around during your stay, a hostess with extensive knowledge of the opportunities in the area. -

Great location away from beautiful, crazy downtown Oaxaca. It was a peaceful oasis when we finished our day trips to surrounding villages and ruins but close enough to downtown to go visit in the evening. Comfortable, had everything we needed. We had a car so transportation was easy, safe parking on street.

Left on 12/19/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We stayed in the bungalow for a month Oct/Nov 2012 with a bedroom (comfortable queen), bathroom with shower, kitchenette/living/dining and sunroom on the main floor. There was another bedroom downstairs which we did not use. Great view looking east over northern Oaxaca and S. Felipe. There is a small grocery store for basics (water, rice, beans, eggs, tortillas, etc.) next door, a somewhat bigger store about a half mile away, a large super market is a little more than a mile one-way. The closest frequent-service bus-stop is about half a mile down a quite steep hill. We did not rent a car while there but got easily around by walking down to take the bus downtown. On the way back we either took a taxi from downtown or the bus and a small three-wheeler "mototaxi" from just past the bus-stop to get up the hill. Overall great stay, helpful owner, no problems.

There is a main house and a smaller casita. We stayed in the casita. It is advertised as 2 bedrooms, but the second bedroom is actually more of a living room, which is open to the outside through a gate (which didn't lock securely). That wasn't a problem for us since we didn't need to sleep there, but I wouldn't recommend this place for more than two people, and only as long as they want to sleep together in the real bedroom. The view is marvelous and apart from the odd dog barking (which you can't get away from in Mexico) it was quiet. We enjoyed being able to cook for ourselves; however, the kitchen lacked sufficient pots and pans. The bedding did not seem to fit the bed well and the pillows were thinner than we were used to. The excellent view comes at a price: it's at the top of a very steep hill. The taxi from downtown Oaxaca is fairly cheap, about 50 pesos, so you can come and go by taxi, but if you take the bus from town you still have a good walk. It's too far to walk to the main part of Oaxaca, so you have to use either a taxi or the bus.

Immediately upon arrival we felt calm and welcomed. The quiet atmosphere at Casa Loma Linda made for a relaxing stay. There are two wonderful porches to sit and enjoy the view of one of Mexico's finest cities. That being said, it is a ways out from the center of town. This is the only reason we chose to give 3 stars for location. It is definitely within walking distance. The kitchen is large and airy and there is a lovely dining table attached. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs and a nice master bedroom, sitting area, and bathroom upstairs. The interior remains cool all day long and we slept very well indeed. I would recommend this more than accommodating house to anyone. We certainly will be back as soon as we can.

I had a wonderful stay at Casa Loma Linda. The house itself is self-contained , in a secure garden full of flowers and organic vegetables and in a very friendly neighbourhood, which is within walking distance of the historic centre. One of the greatest features are the views over the valley and the city below, with the Sierra Madre de Oaxaca Mountains to the north. The owner, Tamara, is friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the city of Oaxaca and surrounding area and greatly added to the enjoyment of my stay. I would definitely recommend this location, especially for those who enjoy relaxing in the morning and evening away from the noise and activity of the city centre.

After a long trip to Oaxaca our hosts greeted us with warm smiles and a welcoming cool drink. We were in Oaxaca to experience Dia de los Muertos as well as to re-visit the city. We began each day with coffee on the gardenside terrace, overlooking the city and surrounding hills. Tamara and Shantaram are interesting people and we enjoyed chats with them on the terrace. They provided us with local information on grocery shopping, restaurants and walks into the heart of the city, and helped us with taxi arrangements. We shared kitchen facilities with them and were able to make our own breakfasts, lunches and some dinners.

A cozy little place with great views of Oaxaca. The owner is incredibly welcoming and knows Oaxaca well. The neighborhood is safe and is about a 15-20 minute bus ride to downtown, making it a nice respite from all of the noise and traffic of the town center.

Columbus, OhioLovely Place With Beautiful View
Left on 06/30/2011 for a stay in February 2008
The traveler, wishing to stay in a relaxing location, away from the noise of traffic and commerce, in a friendly neighborhood, will have difficulty locating an improvement on Casa Loma Linda. The charm of the bungalow is enhanced by the garden, over which can be seen one of the finest views to be found in Oaxaca. The Sierra Madre de Oaxaca Mountains provide an ever-changing, colorful backdrop for both sunrise and sunset, and the view of a thunderstorm moving through the valley below is stunning. Casa Loma Linda is located a fifteen or twenty minute walk to Colonia Reforma, a neighborhood that offers restaurants (in all price ranges), banks, shops, and groceries. Reforma also has the wonderful food market, Mercado Hildalgo, where you can get fresh meat, poultry and seafood, and where fresh fruits and vegetables are in season all year round. The historic El Centro is a 30 minute walk, or a 40 minute stroll. (The walk back up the hill is longer--or you can take a taxi or a motor riksha.) Tamara, the landlady, is a charming, informed, intelligent, long-time resident of Oaxaca and is an invaluable source of information and guidance. We have stayed several months at Casa Loma Linda, which is the source of some of our fondest travel memories.

This place is an oasis! Situated in a nice and quiet area with an amazing view on the oaxacan valley. Even if you dont have a car to get around it is easy to reach it by bus or even by foot (25 minutes of nice walk to the city centre). The rooms are tidy and clean and offer everything you d need for a short or long term stay. I d definately want to come back, next time for more than just 2 days.

The location and view are hard to beat, with a very nice garden, the mangoes were in season! You can walk or take a bus to the historical center of Oaxaca if you like, or connect to transport to other villages in the area.
On top of that Tamara is such a nice person with a wealth of knowledge on the city and its surroundings.
If you can stay here, you will not regret it!

We stayed in the clean cosy house, which has all the necessary amenities. Great overview of the town. Not far from the centre. We rented a car that allowed us to move around flexibly. We received a lot of useful information about things to do in the town (like museums and restaurants) and in the wider area. Many interesting historical sites and interesting villages nearby. Great experience of various local cultures, each with their own specialities, for example in food.

The house is in a quiet, up-market neighbourhood. The place is clean, has large spacious rooms and an excellent view over the city. We stayed there for several weeks, and I would like to visit again with the kids this time! There was plenty of room and we had a relaxing and comfortable stay. I would highly recommend this for a couple or family with two or three kids.

Casa Loma Linda Oaxaca was a beautiful and very safe environment in which to stay. We really enjoyed the wonderful view over the mountains and city at day and nighttime. The house itself was very clean, spacious and very well kept. The garden filed with flowers and fruit trees offers a peaceful space to rest. The house is situated only 10 minutes away from the center of Oaxaca, which made it really easy and enjoyable to go back and forth at anytime of the day.

We stayed at Loma Linda in May of 2011 at the end of the dry season. The guest house is wonderfully equipped with two bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area, and bathroom. From the window of the kitchen you have a view of the valley below beautifully framed by the bougainvillea and fruit trees in the house garden. Tamara was incredibly welcoming and we were charmed by the location and amenities of the house. I highly recommend resting your traveling feet at Loma Linda, we had a wonderful time.

We stayed in Casa Loma Linda april 2011 and we loved it! It is set on a hill close to the center of town, has an incredible view, and a very pleasant garden. The house is equipped with everything one needs, comfortable beds, a well stocked kitchenette, a dining terrace, clean bathroom and wireless internet.
The whole compound has a very nice flair and at times it was hard to leave this beautiful oasis to go to town or visit one of the many sites close by.
Tamara supplied us with lots of information on good restaurants and things to see and do in the area, which was very helpful. I can absolutely recommend this house and we would love to go back. -

Left on 05/14/2011 for a stay in April 2011
I stayed at the apartment for a week and really enjoyed it. There is a a bathroom with a shower and a cozy living room with a fully equiped kitchen in it. The bedroom has a big bed, a closet and plenty of books and magazines to read. All of these rooms are very clean. The dining room with its big table is great for eating and enjoying a cold drink with a great view of the Oaxaca valley an the surrounding mountains. It is just great to watch the sun rise and set over the valley and it is also possible to climb a nearby hill to enjoy the full panorama. The garden has lawn and a vegetable patch and a big palm creating a green atmosphere.
The surrounding area consists of nice upper and middle class residential buildings and can be considered as very safe - I walked around there by myself and never felt uncomfortable. Walking down to the city is not a problem and if you dont like walking uphill too much, catch a taxi or a motor trike in the valley for small money. Or if you want to stay at the apartment for the day, several small grocery and bakery cars selling their stuff come along during the day, each of them playing it s own latin american tune. The hosts live in the house next to the apartment and are very friendly and helpful- and they drive an original red Volkswagen beatle that just fits into the colorful Oaxaca scenery.
To put it in a nutshell: I really enjoyed my time there and I can just recommend staying there!

I stayed in the bungalow for four nights, and each one was fantastic. Located far enough from the town centre to avoid smog and noises, but close enough to walk in and out (and simple by bus if you wish), it's a clean, tidy, all inclusive well furnished home. It's on a shared property with the owner's house, which adds to greater security and provides a garden to relax in also.

I stayed in Casa Loma Linda for one week in april. I have been traveling for 4 months now, so this was a real treat to have a quiet place to rest. The views over the city and to the mountains are incredible when the sun rises. The space was comfortable and clean with a nice place to eat. The windows all open and close easily, allowing a wonderful breeze to pass through on hot days. The walk to the center is 40 minutes through beautiful neighborhoods. The climb back up is steep, but when you look out from the house, your reward is great.

Left on 05/13/2011 for a stay in March 2011
My Stay at Casa Loma was absolutly my style of livin'.
Close enough to the center but far enough for some peace and quiet, except for the chatter of the many birds living in the palm tree outside, might need some getting use to ;)
About 3$ cab ride from the center or 15 min brisk walk.
The view of Oaxaca and the mountain is breathtaking, not to mention Tamara's lush garden. Compost included.
Note: this house is up the hill so if you're walking or biking, you're going to get the buns of steel you've always wanted.
Cute little house with everything you need. Love that pink kitchen! Clean, tidy and safe with wifi internet.
Not only have I refered this house to others, I would love to stay there again, if or when I go back.
enjoy!
