Ocean City Travel Resources

Ocean City: the name provides for zero misconceptions of what this town is all about. With a 10-mile long beach, this island town is about getting out in the sun and sand and having a whole lot of fun doing it. Paralleling the beach is a nearly three mile long boardwalk lined with food, games and shopping, setting vacationers up for days at the beach and nights on the boardwalk, or vice versa. Ocean City is perfect for a weekend getaway, a family vacation, fun with friends or any group that wants to have fun together in one place.
For families: you will save money and keep your children happy if you go to Ocean City. There are free activities almost every day of the week, starting with “Sundaes on Sunday” featuring music, kid friendly entertainment, and, of course, ice cream. Throughout the summer, Mondays and Fridays are free movie nights on the beach, Tuesdays are Family Beach Olympics and Wednesdays host free concerts for the whole family. There are always the usual beach activities like swimming, surfing, fishing and some of the top parasailing on the East coast.
Parasailing is not the only top quality activity in Ocean City. This town boasts 17 championship golf courses, including the only course in Maryland that is a certified Audubon Sanctuary. Ocean City is also home to the annual White Marlin Open, the world’s largest billfish tournament. Want to get in on the fun? Reserve a spot on a boat, bridge, beach or pier and drop a line, there are plenty of fish for anglers everywhere.
Ocean City also has distinguished neighbors. If you can pull yourself away from the boardwalk and beach, take a short drive to Assateague Island National Seashore where you will find the wild horses made famous in Misty of Chincoteague. Hanging with the horses are 260 species of birds, Sika deer, otters, foxes, and about 40 more species of mammals. Walk the various hiking trails or take a ride on 3.5-mile bike trail to take in the sights.
