Description from the owner

A beautiful House built into the volcanic rock facing the Caldera & the Volcano.

Did you know that "PORI" means limestone in Greek?

Pori House got its' name because of the marvellous red limestone surfaces.

Pori House in Santorini is situated in an extremely quiet area of Oia, 7 minutes walk from the shops, restaurants, market place and galleries and 10 minutes from the taxi depot and bus terminal. Pori House consists of 2 separate apartments which are next to each other. The verandas are furnished with patio furniture and an umbrella for marvellous moments of 'al fresco' wining & dining. Interiors are traditionally Cycladic...Read more

Stunning views, great location, (almost) perfect holiday!

Left on 09/05/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We have just come back from one of Pori House's self-catering apartments which had stunning, dreamlike, breathtaking, near perfect views of the whole of the Santorini coastline.
A wonderfully relaxed location, where it was possible to let breakfast out on the terrace, overlooking the sea and mountains, go on for eternity.. or at least well into the afternoon. It was a dream location and perfect for a honeymoon or retreat from daily life and rat race palava...
The only fairly sizeable problem from our point of view was the fouton main bed set-up which had an uncomfortable mattress (we'd sometimes wake up with a dead arm) and also the small umberella that didn't shield the sun in the afternoon on the terrace. ... although I am the perfect shade of Essex-orange as a result!
Despite this, we had become so relaxed by simply being in wall-to-wall sunshine in Greece that it didn't affect us too badly. However, if you have a Sealy mattress - you are longing for it by the end of the week.
Would love to go back and may well do if for some wild, crazy reason, we find ourselves lottery winners this week! Overall our stay was fabulous and Maria and her colleagues were extremely helpful! We'd also recommend a local restaurant called Petros fish tavern.. ..yummy and fantastic service at a good price.

      Our dream vacation

Left on 07/07/2012 for a stay in August 2011

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Pori House for a week in august after a Greek and Turkish cruise. We wanted a quiet place to stay overlooking the water on Santorini away from the tourists. Oia is the perfect destination. It is still a tourist destination but off the beaten path away from the large tours and cruise stops in Thera.

The accommodations were spotless with cleaners coming in everyday. We had a little kitchen, gorgeous bathroom with giant shower, large dining area and comfortable bed. There was also a large closet area with storage for our clothes and luggage so we didn't feel like we were living out of a suitcase all week. The private patio outside of our front door looked over the ocean and included a patio set with umbrella if we wanted to sit outside out of the sun. We went to the grocery store everyday to get fresh tomatoes, cheese, olives and bread for lunch outside then went to nearby restaurants for dinner. Everything in Oia is close, quaint and exactly what you'd picture on a Greek island.

It is a bit of a trek up and down the equivalent of 3-4 stories of stone stairs down the hillside to the house so you should be in fair physical condition to stay here. We were met when we arrived into town by a porter who carried our luggage for us through the streets of Oia and up and down the steps to the House. He gives you recommendations for restaurants and shops along the way which is very helpful when you are just arriving to town. I would walk the stairs over and over again in the august sun to stay here again. It was heaven. You won't be sorry.

      We will be back.
