Description from the owner
With exception of the classical Greek monuments, the iconic village of Oia on the Northern tip of the Santorinian Caldera rim is probably the most frequently photographed location in Greece. With its picturesque cliff-edge houses, imposing captains’ mansions, cobbled marble streets and ubiquitous blue-domed churches, Oia presents the ultimate Cycladic experience. Oia boasts the most hip and refined restaurants, hotels and clubs on Santorini and arguably the most sublime sunset in the Mediterranean.
The diptych luxury villas Oia White and Oia Blue are situated in a quiet and exclusive Caldera setting right in the hear...Read more

Ludlow, United KingdomBeautiful location but changes need to be made
Left on 07/01/2012 for a stay in June 2012
The property is down from the main walk way by 87 steps. You need to know this because you will have to carry your luggage back up very steep and narrow steps. We had four bags for our 10 day stay. This caused a lot of anxiety for the whole stay, my husband is 72 and I was due to go into surgery after our break, we just didn't know what to do. The owners did not get back to us during our stay with any suggestions. We eventually, the day before we left, found a hotel porter and paid him 20 euros to carry our bags back up to the top for us. There was a young couple next to us in Oia Blue who were pleased to pay him 20 euros to do the same for them.
The property is not set up for self catering. It does not have a coffee maker. It has a plug in ring to cook on and a small saucepan. Two wine glasses and two of everything. We met people who visited us from their 'caves' for drinks and they had to bring their own glasses. Their caves were cheaper and better equipped than ours. The seating area is in the sun all day and the umbrella can't be moved as in a cement block so don't imagine sitting out and reading. Shame really because if they had corrected he above it would have been perfect instead of an anxiety ridden disappointing holiday.Response from Villas of Santorini - 07/11/2012
Owner
We as owners were extremely disappointed in reading the unexpected contents of this review.
I checked the guests in myself explaining to them that if they needed anything during their stay, in particular help with their luggage, they should contact me and we would accommodate them. All my contact details are clearly stated in the arrival information pack I distribute some 2 weeks before the arrival of guests.
Furthermore, I sent texts and e-mails to the guests during their stay inquiring if everything was OK and whether they needed anything. Disappointingly I had no reaction from them whatsoever.
Villas rather than hotels are most often chosen because of the privacy they can offer. We respect the privacy of our guests trying to provide service on a discreet level with a minimum amount of disruption and without the constant fuss that you often are exposed to in hotels.
We are however always at the disposal of our guests for any additional services or requirements they may have. This does however necessitate some sort of communication which these guests for some reason refrained from. For instance, I was in regular contact with their neighbours during their stay for whom we also arranged porter assistance.
The villa is among the highest located villas on the Caldera side and only some 30 steps from the sunset path which is the main thoroughfare of Oia.
The villa sleeps two persons and is consequently equipped for two persons. Obviously, we are always more than happy to provide extra utensils as we have more of everything in our storage at the villa. Again, this obviously can only happen if the guests tell us about their needs and wishes. A simple text, e-mail, phone call or even a note (as we service the villa on a regular basis) would have sufficed.
As stated in the description of the villa, its kitchen facilities are suited to preparing breakfast, light meals etc but not to fully-blown cooking. Given the multitude of restaurants, cafes etc in the immediate proximity of the villa this rarely constitutes a problem.
The villa being on the Caldera side it does enjoy lavish sunshine during the day, which tends to be one of the main selling points of this particular location. The umbrella provides however ample shade and is obviously movable with a relatively slight amount of effort. It is NOT fixated to the ground as this review wrongly indicates.
Most of these guests’ anxieties and problems could easily have been resolved if they had communicated with us – shame really that they refrained from this opportunity.

Santorini was our last stop in during what was a magical trip to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. I spent hours researching places to stay. I wanted everything to be perfect. Oia White was every bit of what we hoped for and then some! The villa is beautiful -- modern, elegant, sophisticated and tranquil even amidst the rush of tourists that descend on Oia from the cruise ships during high season. The best part in our opinion is opening the door to be greeted by the beauty of the deep blue aegean Sea every morning. We spent hours on the terrace soaking up the caldera. The owner was most helpful and gracious when we had questions during our stay. The villa was very clean and the bed very comfortable. We would highly recommend Oia White to anyone wanting to stay in a rental instead of hotel. We loved everything about staying in Oia White and would book there again in a heartbeat!

My fiance sprung a last minute trip on me to Greece, with two weeks to plan for the 11 days we would be there... it was a lot of hard work trying to find all the gems in each town we stayed. Greece, had always been a dream of mine to visit and it is here he chose to take me and ask him to marry him! I loved every second of our trip. Oia was our first stop out of athens.. I researched for days and almost booked a couple other places till I found this beauty. I am in the travel business myself and like to spend my holidays staying at privately owned accommodations, b&b;'s etc. From the first inquiring email I sent till the departure the owner of Oia White was there to answer any question. The caretaker was a doll and full of smiles, we really felt at home. The villa was just as imagined in the pictures ~ simple, clean, modern and charming... all with an exceptionable view. Waking up and having coffee and fresh fruit on the terrace was pure bliss. Watching the sun lay to sleep while sipping on some wine and enjoying appetizers we made in the little kitchen too was as good as it gets. We want to go back! Thank you so much for creating such fond memories for us. The place you choose to lay your head at night on travels is the most important factor to make or break a holiday, five stars for Oia White!
